Cowboys Craig & Ford

Daniel Craig’s first James Bond movie, I was impressed. His body is screaming I-am-HOT and his piercing blue eyes are oozing with temptation. His second James Bond movie, I was smitten. I’m waiting for his third James Bond movie! In the meanwhile, I always keep an eye for movies that he starred in.

First time when Andrew and I saw the trailer of Cowboys & Aliens, we were laughing away at the movie title and the plot. So lame! Hahahaha…… Saw it second time, we were both thinking, “hmm… Harrison Ford with Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde, not bad”. Third time we saw it, we were saying, “hey… perhaps we should watch it for the sake of the cast and the cowboys, it doesn’t look that bad”. Fourth time saw the trailer in the cinema, I told Andrew, “let’s watch it! I wanna see Daniel Craig, and Harrison Ford!” Hahahahaha……

Like I said it many times before, I don’t usually find a movie bad, if I said it is bad, it is really BAD. Cowboys & Aliens is just one of those movies that I would say, bad. The plot is so lame. The story is unclear, the characters are a mess, the aliens look more like monsters…… If it wasn’t for Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, guess I wouldn’t even bother to watch it. Ya, ya, I knew the story wouldn’t be good, I got attracted by Daniel Craig, that’s all. :P After the movie, I told Andrew, “sigh…… The movie would be a total epic fail if Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig weren’t in it”.

I couldn’t believe that the director was the one who directed Iron Man. I shall say he did a good job in directing, it is the story that sucks.

So folks, I have warned you. If you are a fan of Daniel Craig, you can’t miss this one, for all his charms and blue eyes and hot bod. If you love Harrison Ford, don’t watch the movie as he looks terrible in the movie. If you just want to see how bad it is, wait for the DVD then. :)

Aye Aye Captain!

I have not seen any Captain America comics. The only memory I have for Captain America, was the shield and the mask. :) Oh, and I do know another thing, he doesn’t have any superpower, all he has is the super-regenerating cells, and he can die, just like any one of us. :D That, makes him more human, more us. :)

I marked Captain America as one of my MUST-SEE’s this year! Just because I wanted to know more about it. How he became the hero of America.

Chris Evans, as the Captain America. Honestly, I was smitten, with his Captain America look! Oh dear! We know he is a charming lad in Fantastic Four (as the human torch) and the edgy-rugged fella in Push (didn’t like his role in Push), but I must say he looks so different as the Captain America! I fell in love with Chris Evans, and Captain America. Hahahaha…… I didn’t expect him to “grow” so fit and macho!

Aside from the looks, Evans did pretty well in Captain America. He showed people that he could act too. Oh, and Hayley Atwell looks so lovely in the movie!

Captain America, a very simple and down-to-earth movie I would say, but not boring. Surprisingly, it has my full concentration in the cinema. There were conversations, the quiet scenes, the not-so-adrenaline-pumping fights, but it is not boring. Strange isn’t it?

I was blown away by Captain America. Hero is not born, hero is MADE. How true it is, haven’t we seen it everyday in our life?

Also, hero doesn’t necessarily have an easier life than any of us. Now, I love Captain America. :)

Harry Potter – Goodbye

Can you believe that Harry Potter has been with us for 10 years? I was still an innocent college student back then. Hahaha.

Now saying goodbye to Harry Potter and his friends, feels weird. What is more weird, is that seeing they’ve grown from small kids to adults.

Frankly speaking, I love Hermione and Ron more. Hermione is smart, witty, pretty, down-to-earth and sincere. Ron, is humorous, loyal to friends, equally down-to-earth, always want to prove himself and just an average person like most of us. I bet most of us could relate a lot to Hermione and Ron.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 got me wanting for more. It was great. While Part 2, is so disappointing. The conversations almost put me to sleep. The predictable story-line didn’t surprise me at all. Some of the things that happened and said are lame. I went to the cinema expecting a great end, but I was disappointed.

Oh, there is one part that is really touching. Severus Snape…… A brave and yet complicated man with a love that is so strong than any other in the story. No one would have seen it coming and end in that way. Believe it or not, I shed a tear or two for Severus.

Anyway, Harry Potter has finally come to an end. A decade long of a story, has finally ended. There is a little bit of sadness. No more Harry Potter.

However, I hope there is a new “Harry Potter”. :) Not sure if J. K. Rowling  is up for it. :) Albus Severus Potter…… Hmm…… Interesting. :)

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

Citibank Weekend promo has ended, but since we are always busy (or lazy) during weekdays, so Andrew suggested to go watch Transformers 3 Sunday morning. :D I was happy as a clam ’cause finally I’d be seeing my hero again, Optimus Prime. We were surprised to see that the Citibank privilege counter is still opening during weekend, since we can still use the credit card, so we went to queue at that counter. Another surprise, weekday promo is applicable on weekends too! RM10 for a ticket instead of RM13! Yeah yeah! :D

Seriously, that girl, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, I’m sorry to say that she doesn’t look pretty to me! Gosh…… She doesn’t have the whole package to fit in the movie. Worse, her acting sucks! At least Megan Fox could act better and her tanned skin fits perfectly in Transformers. Too bad Megan Fox is not “into” Transformers now…… Sigh.

Transformers, from its name you already know it is something to do with the Autobots and Decepticons, so you don’t step into the cinema expecting a lot of story-telling and characters. Do expect a lot of actions and robot-fighting scenes. However, there is one person that I like so much in Transformers 3, Agent Simmons! :D He is still that hilarious and fearless Simmons, but one thing keeps me wondering, how did he get so rich??? Gotta re-watch Transformers 2 to refresh my memory.

When I saw Optimus Prime, I couldn’t help but went oh-ing big time! LOL! I was like “WOW… Whoa… Fuyoohhh… OOOHHH……” Not sure if Andrew (or anyone) heard all of those, they may think I was having the BIG O. LOL!

Optimus Prime is just too handsome!!! Aiyoo…… When he swings his sword and axe and gun… When he jumps, flies…… Adoihhh…… If Optimus Prime ever stands before me for real, I think I’m gonna die, he could just take my breath away! Hahahaha. Sorry if I sound exaggerating a lil, I just couldn’t help it! The cartoon that accompanied me during my childhood is now real on the big screen, how could I not get adrenaline-pumped?!

All those robots, they just look so real in the movie. The movie has the Avatar’s magic, at the end of it, you would even think that they’re real.

I feel so sad when Ironhide…… *Cries* Ironhide!!!!! Want to know what happened to him? Go watch it lah. :P

Transformers 3, unleashed all the actions and fights against the Decepticons, super duper awesome! There were a few scenes made me laugh so hard and Andrew just had to cover my mouth with his hand! LOL! Worth every penny and second of our time for a movie like this.

There’s another thing I don’t understand too. When Bumble Bee is in Camaro form, the car looks so sleek and shiny, not even a scratch! However when Bumble Bee transformed into Autobot form, the surface looks so dirty and there are scratches all over. Why? Beats me.

Trump Unauthorized 2005

I watch local cable TV, more than enough for me to kill the time at nights or when I’m at home during weekends. I did not remember the timetable of all the channels, but recently, I made an effort to remember those interesting shows that I like. There’s one Chinese drama I’ve been chasing for few months, All Men Are Brothers. Now, I remember NCIS is on every Monday night, Desperate Housewives is on every Tuesday night, Malaysia Show Down 2011 on Wednesday night, Thursday is the movie night on TV3. There’s WipeOut and Oblivious tonight. :)

Last night, switched to TV3 and saw this movie, Trump Unauthorized. Old movie again oh…… Boring…… With no other shows to watch, I just stayed on it whilst playing game on the iPad half-heartedly.

Geez…… I should have guessed it when I saw the movie title, TRUMP! It’s a movie biography of the famous king of real estate in New York. The actor who portrayed Donald Trump, was Louis Ferreira, and he looked and talked so much like Donald Trump in the movie! Andrew thought so too, “especially his mouth”. Ferreira did very well in portraying Trump, I must say I felt like I was seeing the real but younger Donald Trump. Thumbs up to Ferreira. He must have studied Trump for some time for this movie.

As the movie went, I got more interested in it. I’m not sure if Donald Trump actually acts or behaves that way since he was young, there’s no way to verify that, but it is interesting to take a glimpse at how he did what he did to get to where he’s at today. What he’s been through and how he rose again from all the bad times, you just gotta salute his talent and unusual vision that no one else saw it but he himself. The disappointment was, the movie didn’t really tell us WHY Trump did what he did. There’s no way we could understand how his thinking is different from others and why he chose to do that instead of this. From the movie, I only saw that he was a brave young man who wanted to prove to the world that he could do the unthinkable and impossible. Perhaps the movie was too short and if it were to show us exactly what Trump thought, it would be too much and too boring.

A cool movie with an amazing actor and it was long enough to just let us know a little bit more about Donald Trump. Although it’s not Trump’s official biography (he never has one I think), it is still worth to watch. Also, to admire Ferreira’s portrayal of Donald Trump. :)

Couldn’t find a good trailer/video on YouTube. Sigh. What a “cold” movie.

Oh, by the way, Katheryn Winnick who played Ivana Trump, looked so glamorously gorgeous. Saw her here and there in some show or drama. But her accent in the movie was such a put-off, sometimes couldn’t even understand what she was talking about. :(

Look alike?

Green “Reynolds” Lantern

10.45am. 18th June 2011. Saturday. Cloudy.

It’s weekend again. Third weekend of June, third movie of the month. Got ourselves 2 tickets for the price of one at TGV KLCC.

When Andrew and I first saw Green Lantern‘s trailer in the cinema, we were giggling at the name. Green Lantern! Sounds weird and it immediately reminded me of the Chinese red lanterns. :D Ryan Reynolds is in it! I must watch! MUST! However this Andrew wasn’t very keen. “Childish and weird”, he said! Goodness, that is Ryan Reynolds and how could he say it’s childish! Reynolds you know! *Drools* Okay, I forgot Andrew is a man, and men usually don’t get why we women go so ga-ga over some macho muscle-man. :D Ever since X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I just couldn’t get him out of my head. LOL! He has gotten so matured-looking over the years. I’ve seen a few episodes of Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place, but couldn’t really remember what it was all about, that was history long ago! But I like Reynolds still. :D

I must say he is a fine actor too. Just couple of months ago I watched Buried, one of Reynolds’ latest movie, I must say he did extremely well in it. No other actors, he is the only cast in the movie, lying in a coffin buried underground. A very disturbing and depressing movie I’d say, but also a very well-thought and compelling story. Hats off to Reynolds and the director of Buried.

All right, back to Green Lantern. I’ve never seen its comic books, so I’m not sure about the story. It’s just that the trailer looks good and I believe the movie wouldn’t be bad.

I was bugging Andrew to watch it with me and since there’s no other movie that he could think of, he finally agreed! Geez…… You see, now it is so hard to ask him to go watch a movie that I like with me. Speaking of men change after married! HA! Tell me about it!

Oops, sorry for the little drama there. Ah, yes, Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds. :) Reynolds did well, but this movie doesn’t require lot of acting skill in order to do well. Instead, it required a lot of imaginations for the cast to do well. Acting in an empty space with the people in CGI blue costume is not easy. You just gotta appreciate that part of the production.

There are some other big stars too, like Blake Lively of the famous Gossip Girls! She is just so hot and gorgeous! I’m not sure why, perhaps I’m used to seeing her on TV in Gossip Girls, I find it a teeny bit weird to see her on the big screen. And together with Reynolds, makes me feel even more weird. Hahaha. She was doing ok in Green Lantern, pretty forgettable except that she is Hal Jordan’s girlfriend.

For a moment, I thought I saw Ewan McGregor. Shoot, I’ve always mistaken him as McGregor! He is Peter Sarsgaard, of course not as charming as Ewan McGregor. :) I only remember him in 2 movies that I’ve seen, Flight Plan and Orphan. He played his bad-guy character so bloody well! It’s like he was born to be the “bad guy”. LOL. Oh, not forgetting Mark Strong who looks so cool in red as Sinestro! Too bad he didn’t make much appearances in the movie.

Also, those green suits are so cool!!! It’s just like their second skin on their body. Ooohhh… Reynolds’ body is so hot……

All in all, a very enjoyable superhero movie with some humors and action. I bet we would see more of Green Lantern in the future. Hopefully, they would keep Reynolds in it for as long as possible. :)

Somehow or rather, I find this line (below) from the movie to be, lame! Wuahahaahahahaha.

“Green is the color of WILL.” — Of all colors, it has to be green! LOL! I’m sorry, perhaps the comic writer loves green. :P

Monsters, Inc.

BOO!

Hahahaha…… Monsters, Inc., the one and only movie that I can watch over and over again without feeling bored. :D Few years ago, I went to a video store just to buy its original DVD. I once asked Andrew to convert the DVD into iPhone compatible format so that I could watch it whenever and wherever I want. When it was on the local TV, I’d watch it again. How many times I’ve watched it? I have no idea! 10 times? Maybe. :D

So, why do I love Monsters, Inc. so much? Boo is cute, Sullivan is cute, Mike is hilarious, the story-line is something new, the graphic is so pretty and “alive”, and the underlying message is just so meaningful. Need me to say more?

There’s a particular scene that I would always laugh out loud no matter how many times I’ve seen it. Sully, lost Boo along the way of running away from the evil Randall. When Sully found Boo’s eye in a garbage dump, he thought Boo was in there. He then watched the pile of garbage, which he thought Boo was in it, being sent through a conveyor belt and repeatedly crushed by the machines, his expressions are so freaking funny I tell ya!!! Even right now I am all smiling recalling that scene! Hahaha. Andrew, just couldn’t take it every time I laugh so hard at that scene, “you’ve seen it so many times and you can still laugh???” LOL. He just doesn’t get it. :P

When Mike making funny faces or doing those idiotic actions, it is hilarious too. How can I not laugh? Ya ya, I’ve seen it so many times, but they’re still funny.

The message that the movie gave me is, just like a piece of coin, everything in this world has 2 sides. It depends on which side you choose to see. That makes the world filled with people from both sides. We are lucky enough to have the freedom to choose, there are people out there who do not have that luxury to even choose their own destiny. I am glad that Andrew always sees the other side of the coin for me. Whenever I am seeing things from my side, he will tell me the different view from the other side. I am fortunate enough and grateful to get to see both sides of a story.

When we can obtain better outcome from another way (laughter from children), why are we insisting on doing what we do now (screams from children)? If only someone could point that out to us every time, we could spend lesser time finding/seeing it.

Who said cartoon/animation is just for laughs? There’s so much it can tell you when you really open your eyes and “see”. :)

X-Men: First Class

X-Men, a name that is so familiar since childhood. I watched X-Men cartoons on TV with my younger sister and cousin, every weekend. Three of us were always jumping with joy whenever we got new X-Men toy. :D I still remember, Wolverine was my cousin’s favorite, my younger sister’s favorite was Rogue while my favorite was Storm and Iceman. Back then, we didn’t really understand the story, all we know was X-Men are a bunch of people with cool superpowers. Hahaha. My cousin would always bare his teeth with his hands crossed in front of the chest and chased us. Hahaha. What a childhood. Oops, that kind of give my age away and which era I’m from. Hahaha. I’m not that old, okay. :P

So, yeah, X-Men is my childhood companion too and I love it, even to this day. Andrew and I have never missed the film series. :)

However, when I saw X-Men: First Class, sort of like a prelude to the X-Men film series, I wasn’t keen to watch it. Again, I don’t see big stars in the movie. Hahaha. I was wrong, so very wrong, again.

I read a review last week from WordPress Freshly Pressed page, the blogger of course did not reveal the story of the movie, but the review was good enough to “entice” me to watch the movie! Then, Andrew’s aunt told us she brought her kids to the movie and it was good. Also, Andrew has heard some good comments from his friends and colleagues. So, we decided to watch it and see it for ourselves. :) Again, June is the last month for Citibank’s Weekends buy 1 free 1 promotion that started since January, we must grab the opportunity while it lasts. I’m so gonna miss this promotion after this, been utilising it since February and it is really a good bargain.

Good lord! I am now glad that we watched it on the big screen! No regrets! Two thumbs up!

First, we now understand where the anger of Magneto came from. Then, the painful parting of 2 good friends just because of each having a different view on one common thing. The bond and friendship between Magneto and Xavier was so strong that we could even feel their pain.

Ahhh…… Now I know how the Beast got his present physical look. Oh, and the metal helmet that Magneto is wearing all the time actually came from his “creator”. So, Mystique and Xavier actually know each other for a long time. Ohhh…… That is how Mystique went on to be on Magneto’s side.

I was cracking my head trying to recall who’s that guy that played Charles Xavier and he looks so familiar. I Googled for it, whoa, James McAvoy, the leading actor in Wanted alongside Angelina Jolie! Also, he’s the Faun in The Chronicles of Narnia.

When I saw Kevin Bacon, my jaw dropped. Hahahaha. Didn’t know he was in the movie too!!! Geez, how could I have missed that big name from the movie?! And, Hugh Jackman made a cameo appearance. LOL! Oh, I almost forgot, Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) looks charming at times. :) He played very well in the movie.

X-Men: First Class, a great movie. Though the lengthy conversations at the beginning of the movie, every X-Men film has this same thing, are pretty boring, you just can’t deny those cool actions and visual effects are indeed the plus points. Andrew and I just love those actions and magnificent effects. I was whoa-ing a couple of  times. Furthermore, it has a good story that is very close to the comic version. Definitely worth the money.

If you’re an X-Men fan and having doubts like me on this movie, don’t. It’s definitely worth to watch on the big screen. Go now before it’s too late. Well, don’t bother if you’re not an X-Men fan, you wouldn’t understand the logic of it. However, if you want to start, this is a good one to begin with so that you get a good picture of what X-Men is all about. Then go on and watch the rest of the film series.

On Stranger Tides. Captain Jack Sparrow.

Citibank buy 1 free 1 weekend promotion is ending this June. So, Andrew and I are making the advantages of it to watch movies on weekends. After this, we will either have to watch on a Wednesday or pay more. Luckily the weekday RM10 fixed price is valid till the end of this year.

Can you believe that we watched Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides for just RM9 for 2 persons? Yes, we did, with the buy 1 free 1 promotion. :D I saw Melissa gotten this Kungfu Panda tumbler weeks ago and it was really unique. So, I bought one too. Hahaha. Andrew was giggling at the size, “SO BIG!!!” He felt uneasy walking with the big tumbler after the show and walked all the way back to the carpark to leave it in the car. LOL. The tumbler cost RM14.90, filled with drinks (of your choice) and popcorn. :D I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean with the Kungfu Panda tumbler. Hahahaha.

This is the 4th sequel of Pirates of the Caribbean. I’ve never missed one. :) Captain Jack Sparrow is just too hilarious. Johnny Depp is truly an amazing actor, and charming too even with those long hair wig and beard.

However, On Stranger Tides did not surprise me a lot. A little bit, but not much. It is an OK movie, nothing makes me go “wow”. Only the beautiful mermaids that captured my heart for a while. Most of it are pretty predictable. I did have a good laugh though. Andrew blamed it on the many sequels that I have watched, that sorta made the plots and scenes expectable and the excitement of anticipation has gone. Hmm…… True, I believe.

So, if you are a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, you are just gonna like this one just like I did. If you’re not a fan of Captain Jack Sparrow and seeking only pure entertainment, you’ll get entertained indeed. :) However, don’t expect too much of a good storyline. If you go looking for it, you ain’t gonna get it. :)

ADD: Oops, I forgot to mention the forever beautiful and stunning Penelope Cruz! She is so gorgeous. What a candy to the eyes.

The next big adrenaline-pumping movie in anticipation is, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Can’t wait!!!

The Wool Cap 2004

Last night, as usual, switched on the TV when I got home. It was 10pm and just the right time the movie started. Didn’t see the title but I finished the whole movie.

The Wool Cap, about a middle-aged man, Gigot who lost his vocal cords and his sister in a car accident, lived a solitude live for half of his lifetime. His lonely live was soon disrupted by the arrival of Louella, a 12-year-old girl who got abandoned by her drug addict mother. Gigot and Louella soon developed a bond that makes Gigot wanted to adopt Louella as his daughter and get back in touch with his family that he abandoned long ago.

It is a very touching story and movie, with William H. Macy‘s impeccable performance. He is no doubt a very experienced and excellent actor, whenever he’s in a movie, be sure to get swept off the ground by his charming acts. He could express the emotions of the character so well that not a word that needs to be spoken to feel it, and it goes straight to your heart. That’s the magic of William H. Macy. Not forgetting the movie I watched with Andrew back in 2007, Wild Hogs, by Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and Macy. It is such a hilarious movie! Macy was so funny in Wild Hogs, even up to this day I couldn’t stop laughing whenever Wild Hogs came into my mind, like right now. Whenever I see people with the same dressings on those Harley Davidson bikes, I would point at them and turn to Andrew, “Wild Hogs eh”. Both of us would start giggling. Hahahahaha.

You know, when people said don’t judge a book by its cover, the same goes to don’t judge a movie by its cast. I don’t judge a book by its cover as my reading range is pretty wide. However when it comes to movie, I am pretty picky about the cast in a movie. Hahaha. If I don’t see any big names or familiar faces in a movie, I often choose not to watch it. I could be wrong and I was wrong quite a couple of times. :)

The Wool Cap is a very meaningful and heart-warming movie, even Andrew was watching it and not switching channels in between commercial time. He too was fascinated by the story.

At the end of the movie, when Gigot showed Louella that, “I am your father”, I couldn’t help but tears just streamed down my face! Kanasai…… So touching leh…… *Sobs sobs*

Sorry, this is the only “decent” video of The Wool Cap that I could find on YouTube. What a pity, such a great movie but no one cares to upload a trailer of it. Sigh.

What Do You Believe?

Another creepy movie of Anthony Hopkins.

I am not a big time fan of Hopkins, but undeniably, he is a very talented and remarkable actor. I’ve watched none of his Hannibal series except one, Red Dragon. That was also by chance I watched it, with my dad. A pretty disturbing movie I’d say. Until now I still couldn’t get rid of Ralph Fiennes’ tattooed body from my mind. Hopkins was more of a supporting role in Red Dragon though.

The Rite, all about exorcism in the modern days. The movie is surrounding Michael Kovak (played by Colin O’Donoghue) who did not believe in demon or God and finally found his faith through Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins) by performing exorcism on his own.

From the movie, I ponder, we sometimes see things from our point of view, what if those are the things that the devil shows us just to deceive us? How could one know if we are deceived? Perhaps, just perhaps, this whole world is a deception. Devil or not, demon or god, what if all that we see now, is nothing but an illusion? Ahh…… Just the thought of it is enough to make me feel eerie. Ish……

The Rite, was a teeny bit boring in the middle. There isn’t too much of horror, but the story is enough to keep me going with it. The ending is pretty predictable, the good/bright one always prevails.

Not a bad movie at all. I can see that the director is trying to do this movie in a very delicate way, not to offend anyone on either side of the line. Whether you’re a believer or non-believer, there’s no harm in watching The Rite. It is pretty entertaining in its own way, but be prepared for the boring part in the middle of the movie. :D Hats off to Anthony Hopkins.

Knowing that Andrew would fall asleep in the cinema if we were to watch it in the cinema. So, I was watching the movie alone, on PPS, Andrew went out for supper with his dad. During the last exorcism, towards the end of the movie, I actually paused it and waited for Andrew to come back! Hahahaha…… Too scary to watch alone in the room after midnight! To Andrew, his face was like “what is there to be scared about, it’s all fake.” Hahahahaha.

Love this particular line from Anthony Hopkins in the movie — “Choosing not to believe in devil will not protect you from him”. Scary, but somewhat true. It’s the same like choosing not to believe in death will not protect you from dying. Eventually, we all are going to die.

Furious Fast 5!

If you’re a fan of Fast & Furious, you wouldn’t want to miss Fast Five.

If you’re a fan of Paul Walker, more reason for you to watch Fast Five.

If you’re a fan of Vin Diesel, you should watch Fast Five.

If you’re a fan of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, you have got to watch Fast Five!

If you’re a fan of fast and beautiful cars, Fast Five is your thing.

If you’re a fan of all of the above, Fast Five is definitely, absolutely one that you MUST watch. :D And I am so happened to be a fan of all of the above. Hahaha. So is Andrew. Okay, maybe he isn’t much of a fan of those actors. Hahahaha.

First half of the movie, there isn’t much of fast cars and racing, more of adventure and action packed movie. The remaining half, fuyooohhhh!!! Thumbs up!!! Racing, fast cars, pretty cars, pretty girls, actions, guns, fire, fights…… It was so enjoyable and exciting!

If you wanna see The Rock versus Vin Diesel and who won, you’ve to watch it yourself. It was incredibly jaw-dropping. :D

It is a fun action movie, if it’s action that you’re seeking, you’ll be pleased. To me, no regrets of watching it! Worth every penny for the excitement that it brought me. Oh, not forgetting the humorous conversations too. Surprisingly, Fast 5 is funny too. :)

There are so many familiar faces in Fast 5, Jordana Brewster is getting hotter and hotter, Tyrese Gibson is so freaking funny, Sung Kang who came back to life after Tokyo Drift looked so much better, Gal Cadot is still so charming and don’t forget Ludacris!!! All of them have previously appeared in Fast & Furious. Gosh, couldn’t get enough of Fast 5! I love Fast 5!!! Yeah!!!

Here, enjoy the short trailer. :)

3 Idiots

Ironically, the ones who think they’re so smart are actually the idiots. :)

3 Idiots, a Bollywood movie that Andrew’s cousin recommended. We watched it 2 weeks ago, and we fell in love with it.

Aamir Khan is no stranger to me. I know I’ve seen him in some Bollywood movies, which I’ve watched when I was in secondary school with my neighbour, but I do not know which ones. As you know, Bollywood’s movies name are so difficult to remember. His acting is indeed very impressive.

The movie is about 3 strangers, came together in an engineering college. Farhan, studies engineering for the sake of following his father’s wishes. Raju, studying engineering in hope to become an engineer so that he could change the life of his family. Rancho (Chanchad), studies for the mere reason of gaining knowledge.

3 friends with 3 different background, despite of being called idiots, helping and supporting each other. There are so many laughters in the movie, and there are sadness too. For the whole 2 hours, we just couldn’t stop laughing.

I love this thing that Rancho has been saying so frequent in the movie, something like “you don’t chase success. When you have gained the knowledge, success will naturally come to you”. It is so true. How many of us are chasing success and how many exactly has succeeded? All he is saying is, learn and gain as much knowledge as you can, when the time comes, success will be yours.

I shall not write further, you should watch the movie. Everyone should. Not just for yourselves, perhaps with the realisation, you’ll be bringing up your children differently. Results in school is not everything. :)

They speak in both Indian and English in the movie. It’s best to watch with English subtitles if you do not understand Indian. :)

Rango

Wanted to catch a movie last Saturday, fortunately Rango is still on the big screen!!! Only one time slot, guess it’s coming down soon. Again, utilising the Citibank buy 1 free 1 promotion. :)

Rango, so hilarious! The way Johnny Depp speaks is hilarious!!! Gosh…… The movie is just too good and you gotta watch it to know it. The underlying message, everyone of us has our own journey to travel. You have to walk your own path and not just following others. Also, when there’s a will, there’s a way.

Okay, I must admit one thing, I was too tired and sleepy, at one point, I nearly fell asleep!!! I was so close to just close my eyes and sleep away, but I realised I was in the cinema and sleeping in a cinema is just so not ME. Hahahaha. No, Rango is not boring at all. Don’t get me wrong.

Just go laugh your hearts out.

World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles

Saw the trailer last month, thought it would be a great movie. Then 2 weeks ago saw the making on local TV, geez…… The way the director filmed the movie was so shaky, it was like watching from a video cam by people who doesn’t know how to film. I felt dizzy. Andrew saw the trailer on TV and told me he wanted to go watch it, I disagree, told him that the movie was filmed in such a way similar to Cloverfield and Quarantine. He also dropped the thought to watch it then. Hahaha.

I was surprised that a friend sent me a message asking if I would like to watch World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles. I am glad and grateful that my friend did think of me. I really appreciate them thinking of me. It shows that I’m on their mind, and I’m happy for that. :) With the free tickets, my sweet friend even said I could bring Andrew along. How sweet! :)

With the free tickets, Andrew was quick to say OK! Hahaha. Both of us were hoping it wouldn’t be as bad and dizzy as Cloverfield. True enough, BLA did not fail us. It’s a good movie. Storyline is pretty much similar to War of the Worlds and Cloverfield, but the point of view has switched. Both War of the Worlds and Cloverfield were from the civilians POV, BLA is from the POV of the soldiers fencing against the aliens.

I always believe every movie has an underlying message, here, the movie encourages heroic act, that always comes with a price. Don’t go there if you’re not ready to pay that price, it could be too much for you to handle.

Saw some critic commented that the movie is a junk and whoever watches and likes it, they’re idiots. I find it too harsh though. Well, you just can’t please everybody.

Not a bad action movie at all. (I don’t mean to say that it’s nice just because I got a free ticket, and I wouldn’t say that it’s bad too just because it’s free. :) )

Devil Among Us

Saw the trailer of Devil last year, as usual, I had to give the movie a pass as Andrew never likes horror movies. The mood struck again this afternoon, went on PPS to look for it. Surprisingly, it’s on PPS.

No big and famous cast, there is only one person I know from the movie, that is M. Night Shyamalan. Hahaha. He was the co-producer of the movie and he wrote the story. If you’ve been following my movie posts, you should know I’m a fan of Shyamalan. The previous Airbender sucks, luckily this time, Devil isn’t as bad.

5 persons, 3 men and 2 women, got in the same elevator. 5 of them, with different background and their own secrets, die one by one inside the stalled elevator. It is believed that one of them is the Devil himself, hunting the others down.

The story looked a bit like Final Destination, but still it’s pretty watchable. I’m really impressed with the acting of 2 particular persons in the elevator, the younger woman and the young mechanic. 2 of them are so good!

When the lights went off in the elevator, I was basically holding my breath too! The director definitely knows how to keep the audience suspended.

There is a message even in such low budget horror movie, that we are to take responsibility of what we do or did. We all make mistakes, but WE have to take full responsibility of our mistakes, not others. Funny that, this is exactly what I heard/learned during my training last Friday! Coincidence? I don’t know. And just a moment ago I was watching the trailer of the Devil on YouTube, just to choose a better one to put in this post, obviously the loading was done, but it stopped right at “A Reason”! That is the end of the sentence “Everything Happens For A Reason”. Gosh…… This starts to sound creepy. I shall end here. Good night. Enjoy the trailer (not scary enough I feel).

I Am Number Four

Andrew suggested to watch I Am Number Four, but I remember a friend of mine told me not to watch it and mentioned Sanctum was not bad. However, when we reached the cinema, the urge to watch I Am Number Four was too just too strong. LOL. Or I should say Sanctum wasn’t attractive enough.

There was some drama when we were purchasing the movie tickets over the counter. Andrew asked the attendant if we could purchase the Citibank promotion tickets here at this counter, she answered YES. I even showed her my Citibank Card and laid it on the counter. When she clicked and showed us the price, Andrew confirmed with her if it was the Citibank promotional ticket price. She flipped and scolded us in Malay “ah lah, cakaplah awal-awal tadi”. I was annoyed with her behavior. I came all the way here to enjoy my movie, not to get ill-treated by some irresponsible worker. Not wanting to spoil my Sunday movie mood, I told her, “Excuse me, just now we did ask you if we could use Citibank card here and you said YES. Can you please be more polite to your customer? How could you speak to you customer like that?” She kept quiet. I could have continued to give her a piece of my mind, but I stopped. Don’t sweat over small stuff. Just find it hard to understand the people nowadays, if you want to work, please do your work professionally.

Enough with the drama, let’s get on with the movie.

I actually saw the book before I knew there was a movie. The story didn’t intrigue me to buy it though. However, when I saw the trailer, it definitely looks great.

Alex Pettyfer has grown up so much! He was still a small kid in Stormbreaker! No wonder I couldn’t recognise him immediately from the trailer. Guess what, there is this one person I find him so familiar but I just couldn’t pin him to any of the movie I could have seen him in. It was Andrew who later told me he was that lead actor in Hitman and that baddie in Die Hard 4! Told ya, Andrew is extremely good with faces and people! Henri is Timothy Olyphant.

The movie was good, not great, but it was good. The visual effects are so cool! My friends were saying there are few parts at the beginning of the movie which are unnecessary. To me, I think the opposite. Every scene is necessary to explain the circumstances surrounding the characters. If they were to be cut short or left out, all of us would be in a daze of what is going on.

Actually, there are some questions in my head too. How did the Lorien people get to the earth? Why are they separated? If the protectors of the Lorien could come to the earth, why couldn’t their parents be saved too? Aren’t the protectors supposed to stay and fight so that the Lorien could escape? Why is it the other way around? Why the Mogadorians have to pursue and kill the Lorien one by one following the numbers? How did Number Six find Four? Number Six said her protector was killed in a Mogadorians attack, I thought the Mogs only kill following the number sequence? Why suddenly jumped to Number Six? Ahh…… So many questions. Perhaps the book will say better.

You may not like the movie if you’re looking for a full story from the book. This movie also isn’t for those who seek only actions. It is entertaining enough to kill some time on a weekend, and the special effects are undeniably cool. :)

Anyway, Andrew and I did enjoy the movie. At the end, it left both of us thinking, alien could be real and walking among us. You’ll never know who the person next to you really is. The world is so big, and it’s full of bizarre things. So, why not?

Dreaming Away

Have you ever waken up to a dream of a dream? You were deep in sleep, having a dream, when you woke up, you were still in a dream. You woke up another time to the reality. I had dreams like that before, only a few times. But I couldn’t remember them. Yes, how often do you remember your dreams?

After Shutter Island, learned that Leonardo DiCaprio has another movie coming up soon. It is as mysterious and bizarre as Shutter Island. It is called Inception. I’ve no idea why it was called Inception as the trailer I saw earlier didn’t have any conversations. I knew I just have to watch it because the trailer looked so amazingly strange.

Luckily, the movie didn’t disappoint me. Leonardo’s acting is unbeatable. Everything he does in the movie could only get you more into it. Before you know it, you actually get sucked into the movie so deep by the character he plays. He has this charm or charisma that you just couldn’t take your eyes off of him. That makes you pay attention to the movie.

If you still can’t understand what the movie is all about, perhaps the movie fails to reach you. It’s not your fault, Inception, as well as Shutter Island, is not meant for those who do not like lengthy conversations. I ain’t gonna tell you the story of the movie, if you’re interested, go watch it.

The music in the movie is awesome! Most of the time it is the music that keeps the movie suspended. Salutes to Hans Zimmer. Am gonna grab the movie soundtracks.

Not forgetting Ken Watanabe, who played a supporting role in the movie. He has his own charms too.

An amazing movie indeed. You’ll start wondering, if you are living in a dream or reality. The dream and the reality, is just a sleep away.

This is the trailer I first saw. It’s compelling enough to make you wanting to go to the cinema, without anything being spoken.

The A-Team

Last month, saw the trailer of The A-Team, thought “old man Liam Neeson with some middle-aged guys”. Hahahaha. You can’t blame me. Bradley Cooper is still charming as ever, you just can’t miss his handsome face whenever he’s in a movie. The other 2 characters/actors, I am not familiar with. I told Andrew after watching the trailer, the actions definitely look promising, I ain’t so confidence with the cast though. Hahaha.

We decided to go ahead with the movie for the actions, and we never regret. I must admit I was wrong to judge a movie by its cast! Hahaha.

The movie was great! It has been a long time I did not laugh so much watching a movie. No, those comedies and cartoons are funny, but The A-Team was different. I couldn’t describe it, you will just have to watch it to know it.

Do you know that The A-Team was based on an old television drama series in the 80′s? I did not know! And to think that the television series was actually VERY famous!

You just gotta watch this movie for its humors and funny conversations. Forget about all the logic and rationale, just enjoy yourself. :)

Oh, and I love it when they said “AMF! Alpha, Mike, Foxtrot! Adios Mother F***er!” LOL! :P

Green Zone

Watched this with Andrew, his favorite kind of movie, a must-watch to him. Hahaha. I had no idea what the movie was all about. All I know was Matt Damon is the leading actor. LOL. The moment I sat in the cinema and the movie started, ahh…… A war-time movie.

Did the American government lie? Are there really Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in Iraq? Have they found it? Are the lives that we lost in the Iraq war all in vain? The war is about nothing but the precious resources in Iraq? We do not know. We will never know the answers.

I wonder what the Americans would think after watching the movie. Anti-America?

Putting all the questions and controversies aside, it was a good movie. Great plot! Nice story.

The Underland. The Wonderland.

Before everything else, an official big “Hello again” to my precious Fish Avenue. Things are bad at work, I was pretty sad for the past 3 weeks or so. All my brain cells have been channeled to problem-solving, not much left for literature purposes. LOL! Luckily managed to watch a movie or two.

First time watching movie with colleagues, a Movie Treat the company’s Sports Club (aka myself) organised for all of us. But only 7 of us went.

The last time I watched Alice in Wonderland, the cartoon version, I think I was probably 10-ish. Now to see Alice in Wonderland in real person version, I couldn’t help but feel excited. The only uncomfortable thing was that I was going to watch it without Andrew.

The story was about the grown-up Alice was back in Wonderland to rescue it from the Red Queen. There was a lot of conversations and sometimes they talked in funny phrases or words, you have to really pay attention to understand them well. There was some action scenes too, which made it not so boring. But please don’t expect it to be an action-packed movie, it is not. I’ve heard people saying that the movie was so-so because not much of actions in it. Come on, it’s a fantasy movie, Alice in Wonderland! The name says it all. I wonder if they’ve watched/read Alice in Wonderland before! LOL! By the way, Johnny Depp is still as awesome as ever.

If you love magic, fantasy and all sorts of weirdness, you MUST watch it. Make sure you bring your curiosity along, you need a lot of curiosity to believe what you see in the movie. Alice in Wonderland is not for those who seek for actions.

From Paris With Love

Yeah, so much of love, in Paris. Hahaha. Just one glance at the title, I dare bet almost everybody would think that it is a romance movie, including myself. :) Again, Andrew was the one who wanted to watch it. I was okay to go along since there’s John Travolta in it. :D There is another young man, good-looking chap, Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Hmm…… Looks familiar. Ahhh…… Hugo Boss Element commercial ad, does it ring a bell now? ;)

What a unique movie. Seeing John Travolta punching and killing people, that was awesome! But he looks young in the movie, I couldn’t help but wondering if he has had something done to his wrinkle-free face. Well, you can’t blame him. Of course he has to look at his best acting alongside such a young charming actor like Rhys Meyers. And Rhys Meyers, despite his handsome face, he could definitely act well.

There was not a boring moment in the movie, at least that’s how I felt. The only bad thing is, everything moves too fast. It’s like someone is trying to tell you a story with all the actions and moves until you don’t get the chance to breathe and think about it. Also, John Travolta is trying too hard to impress the audiences (now Ethan Hunt of MI3 would look stupid in front of Charlie Wax). It was Rhys Meyers’ character that pulls everything back to the reality.

From Paris With Love isn’t the hottest movie. In fact I didn’t hear anyone talking about it nor read it before the movie is in the cinema. If you like action-hero movies jam-packed with all the actions you could ever expect in a movie, you’ll definitely love this movie just like Andrew does. Especially if you’re a fan of “Swordfish”. LOL!

Percy Jackson

Before Chinese New Year, I bought my first ever Percy Jackson book, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Saw a lot of its movie posters while I was in Taiwan. I didn’t know what story it was until I got my hands on the book. It’s all about the Olympian gods and the demigods. I’ve always loved Greek and Roman mythology, how could I miss out the Olympus then? :) Thought I could finish the book before I watched the movie.

When I turned on the first page, I got gloomy. The story was written in first person, “I, Percy Jackson……” :( It’s funny that I don’t mind reading blogs that’s written in first person, but I do not choose/buy books that’s written that way. Why? I do not know. I just feel funny and weird to read books written in “I”.

Since I’ve bought the book, I just had to finish it. It took a little getting used to, the next thing I know, I could hardly put that book down. No fancy and big words, it is so simple and easy to understand. Then I realised, ah, it was meant for the children, dumb me. Hahahaha. The story was good enough, love the edgy side of Percy Jackson.

Went to watch the movie then 2 days ago. First, I was a bit surprised to see the “bigger” version of Percy by Logan Lerman. Percy from the book was only 12, this one on the screen looks 16 (Logan is 18 this year). Of course, this is the movie, not wholly based on the book. Then things got worse, most parts of the story have been changed. Grover isn’t the shy and timid Grover, Annabeth isn’t the wise and calm Annabeth, and Percy has become pretty arrogant and self-centered in the movie. How sad……

Half way through the movie, I had to tell myself to stop comparing it with the book, enjoy the movie! Hahahaha. Yup, it was still a good movie despite the distorted story from the book. Andrew was wondering how Luke stole the lightning bolt and why Zeus would suspect Percy, the movie didn’t explain it well. However, we still enjoyed the movie. Andrew even said “it was better than Harry Potter”. LOL! He is never a HP fan. :)

If you want to watch Percy Jackson, better watch it before you read the book. It isn’t good to have a “book” in your mind while watching the movie. If you have read the book, make sure you erase all the Percy Jackson shadows in your mind before you enter the cinema. :D

One thumb up to Percy Jackson the movie, and 2 thumbs up for the book.

I went to Kinokuniya wanted to buy the other 4 books of Percy Jackson series (there are 5 of them in total), which I’ve seen few weeks ago when I bought The Lightning Thief. Good grief, they’re all out of stock! It’s gonna take 2 to 3 months to replenish! Oh my, my, my…… Gotta try my luck in other bookstore. Sob, sob.

Now, let’s see some Percy power! Yay!

P. S. : Waiting impatiently for Clash of the Titans!
