Fresh.New.Air.

First of all, one of the many reasons that keep me on my blogging journey is that I know there are people out there reading my blog and take good interest in it to actually LIKE some of my posts. No words need to be written or spoken, just a LIKE and I know someone is sharing the same thought or interest. Thank you people, for liking my posts. :)

I too, take great interest in the people who LIKE my posts. I’ll often check out their profile and if they have a blog too. Yesterday, someone LIKED my post on “Bryan Adams”. As usual, I clicked on the Gravatar, it shows Moses Melkonian. Looked for his blog, Moses Junkyard, clicked. Surprise, surprise. A new, young, talented artist. I wouldn’t label him as merely a singer since he writes and composes the songs on his own.

I’m impressed with Moses’ new work piece, We Are Mighty, We Are Young. The video (shot by Aaron Leaman) may look simple, but that’s what it’s all about. Great music doesn’t need fantastic video to tell the story, the song itself is great enough. Love the rhythm of the song. I’m impressed that Moses does not go into the main-stream pop music what others seem to be doing. We Are Mighty, We Are Young is pretty groovy. I was swaying my body a little while listening to it. Don’t believe me? Just listen to it and you’ll understand what I mean.

I was googling about this young artist, all I could get is this interview with Steezy Street. Then I went on to YouTube, wanting to see what else he has. Gosh, I found Lunar Lull! So soothing and comfortable. Moses sounds so different in Lunar Lull.

How long since we have someone who dares to be different?

Let’s hope Moses could stay in the industry and be different for as long as he could.

Seriously, you don’t know what you’re missing if you have not heard this brilliant artist.

Ahh…… Bliss of the week to have found this amazing star. :)

Bryan Adams

Have u really ever loved a woman?
You will know this if you and I are from the same era. :)

For quite a while back then, I was pretty crazy in love with Bryan Adams. I would look everywhere I could to buy his albums, even old ones. I would listen to every of his songs and memorize the lyrics. It was pretty much of eat and sleep with Bryan Adams. :) At this point in time, I do love him still.

Why does Ashley who always loves the good-looking hunks love someone like Bryan Adams who isn’t got the looks?

There’s one thing you probably haven’t know. I’ve got a thing for men’s voice. Hahaha. Men with throaty voice or some may call it the manly voice, would get the most attention from me. I could listen to Bruce Willis’ voice and drool over it. I would go dizzy when Liam Neeson speaks. Andy Lau’s voice makes my legs go weak. Andrew’s voice? Makes me feel warm. :)

Bryan Adams has got a very unique husky voice when he sings! It’s like a magnet and I’ll be like a piece of soft metal, hopelessly drawn to him! Hahaha. Don’t believe me? Try listen to some of his songs and you’ll understand what I mean. Try listen to this “Please Forgive Me”, my favorite with his most husky voice.

So, it isn’t the looks that really got me, it’s the whole package. :) He’s not just a singer, he’s also a song writer and a photographer.

By the way, the most loved football star David Beckham, does not have my love. Have you ever heard him talking? You should, and you’ll know why I do not love the most handsome man as they claimed he is. :)

Hmmm…… Writing about Bryan Adams reignites the passions I used to have for him. Listening to “Please Forgive Me”, melts my heart.

Another one to charm your night away……

Ghost Protocol

The installation of kitchen cabinets and wardrobe last Saturday was a nightmare. I felt so sad. All I could do was sighing and sighing. Andrew, on the other hand, was tired. He was so busy with the house even when he was off from work for 2 days. He wanted to take his mind off the house for a while and proposed to go for a movie in the early morning of Sunday.

Mission: Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol is something Andrew has been talking about since early of the year. He is so impressed with Tom Cruise performing all the stunts on his own instead of using a stunt-man. Tom Cruise has been my idol for a long time. Andrew only likes his movies in the recent years. Partly because of me, he has seen more of Tom Cruise’s movies. He has been telling me he MUST watch MI4. Hahahahaha…… 5 years I’ve been waiting for another MI movie. What a long wait.

Ghost Protocol, a great one. Although there are things which may look impossible and man-made, it is still a great movie. Seeing Tom Cruise risking his life climbing the Burj Khalifa is already exciting enough, worth every penny you paid for a movie ticket. Mission Impossible never lacks in action. Everything is well woven that you will never feel bored. There is humours too, which made me laughed out loud quite a number of times.

I noticed, Tom Cruise doesn’t play cool and handsome in the recent MI movies as much as the earlier ones. I still remember he kept showing people how beautiful his hair was in MI2! LOL!

Love the movie so much. Of course, LOVE Tom Cruise too! :D

Now, let’s see how beautiful Tom Cruise’s hair was in MI2. Just watch and you’ll understand what I mean. :P

Jingle Bell. Jingle Bell. Jingle Bell Rock.

‘Tis the season to be jolly!!! YAY! Christmas is almost here!

I’m not a Christian, but I love Christmas. ‘Tis a season to share, give and receive love. I love the Christmas ‘smell’ in the air. Everywhere is so Christmas-sy. You see, the magic of Christmas. Whether you’re of Christianity or not, you celebrate Christmas. It is so contagious. :) You just want to get into that jolly mood. :)

This year, we may be able to get ourselves a Christmas tree in the house. Andrew and I are already hunting for one. We are so excited. Although we are slowly building the home with the limited dime, we would still want to get the home into the festive mood.

The Christmas shopping shall start any time soon. I don’t usually buy gifts for every friend I have, only among a small group of us that we would exchange gifts. Also, we always have gifts exchange and Christmas celebration in the office. This year, guess I could do a gift exchange with Andrew too. :D

I am already feeling like Christmas…… Christmas, Christmas, can you come faster? Hahahahahaha…… I love Christmas!

The Smurfs!

Nope, I’m not a big fan of Smurfs. Used to watch the cartoon Smurfs when I was a child, but I barely remember their names. I only remember the song! Hahahaha. Few months ago when the movie was on, I started humming the tune of the song whenever it came to my mind. Sometimes in the car, out of sudden, until Andrew said, “again?!” LOL. Sometimes in the office… in the shower……

Guess what, there’s this Smurfs’ Village game on the iPad! And, Andrew downloaded it on his Android phone and he too is now so into it!!! I can’t believe that he is “farming”!

Finally, get to watch The Smurfs on DVD. Didn’t go to the cinema as it really didn’t appeal much to me. DVD would do just fine.

Aww…… The Smurfs look so cute in the real world! Ah…… Thanks to the advancement of technology, Smurfs are no longer 2D. :D Love, love, love Smurfette! Okay, seriously, I fell in love with those blue people. :)

Guess everyone now knows about those little blue people living in their own blue community. I do not like the way they run their community though, it’s too monotonous and boring. :P

Oopsie… Time to harvest my crops in the village! Hahahahaha……

Immortals 2011

Andrew wanted to watch Tower Heist, I disagreed. Hahahaha. I love Greek mythology if you have not know, Immortals would be my pick. We could watch Tower Heist on DVD, but Immortals you just have to feel the “power” and see its beauty on the BIG screen.

It’s the same producer of 300, there’s a lot of similarity in the movie. Pretty violent and bloody, just like 300. However, it’s a great enjoyment to the eyes! The graphic and visual are fantastic! Seeing those Greek gods in real persons made me go ooh-ing and ah-ing!

Sadly, the story is bad. The portrayals and images of the Greek gods are distorted too. Zeus appeared to be too gentle and human in Immortals, not the powerful godly side of him. Ares is just too kind and soft, where’s the God of War? Athena looks just an average girl! Sigh…… The story, is not at all the same with the myth. Guess they improvised on the myth to make it more commercial.

Henry Cavill, who played Theseus, has a great body!!! *Drools* Not to forget Mickey Rourke! He still looks charming and he too has a great body! Guess what, he is almost 60! Of course, he is undoubtedly talented and he acts well in almost every role. Been seeing quite a lot of him on the big screen recently. To be honest, Mickey Rourke is the only character in Immortals that impressed me.

Don’t bother going to the cinema for the film if you aren’t into mythology, you will be bored to death. Also, you may not understand a thing about those Greek gods. :) I enjoyed the movie, but I do not like its story.

Real Steel, Real Human

Ahhh….. Hugh Jackman, how could I miss his movies. :P He is the main attraction of Real Steel, but the robots, are what makes me wanting to watch it so much. They’re so much like Transformers, and they live with human!

The robots, they do not interact with human, they’re merely fighting robots, that replaced human in boxing. I wonder if we would get to that stage. It’s possible, human fighting against another is all too violent most of the times. Whereas robots, no blood spilling and injuries, the only thing that spill is money.

There’s no perfect hero saving the days in the movie, no complicated human relationships and no dramatic story, but it is one hell of a great movie. The father and son story is pretty old-fashioned, but it’s still the best story to tell and sell. Love the way how Hugh Jackman isn’t playing hero in the movie, he’s just an average guy with the money problem and a son that he did not want. His son, turned out to be the person who taught him to be confident again and how to “fight”. With that kind of storyline, it’s a surprise that it turns out to be a great movie. A “real” movie.

Totally enjoyed the movie. Those robotic fights, of course not as glamorous as the Transformers, but the raw metal to metal is enough to get all of us adrenaline pumped. We were just like watching a real boxing game, with the cheers of the crowds. Some of the audience in the cinema did clap and shout with excitement! This is the second time Andrew and I seen people clapping and cheering in the cinema, first time was the Ip Man 2 movie.

The faint response of Atom towards Max, leaves us all wonder, if the steel man is able to understand human. It’s all steel, but what makes the steel human, is still us – HUMAN.

*Andrew and I love the scene where Atom mirrored Hugh Jackman’s jump in the fight! That is so cool!

Criss Angel, The GHOST

When I first saw Mindfreak on the local TV channel, I was thrilled. I’ve heard father mentioning about this “ghostly” magician before, father called him a “ghost”. Hahahaha. I wanted to see just how amazing this magician is that could make father thinks so highly of, even better than David Copperfield.

I am pretty sceptical of magic. I know they’re just tricks that play with your illusion, there is nothing really magic about them. However, Criss Angel makes me believe in magic all over again.

Criss Angel, a magician and illusionist. His show, Mindfreak, is getting more and more exciting and mind-blowing. For most of it, I know they’re just magic tricks. However, there are some that really got my jaw dropped open and impressed. I now truly understand why would father call him a “ghost”. He even performed stunts that is pretty gruesome.

Just look at this mass levitation (or perhaps hypnotization) by Criss Angel. I’m not sure if he is still playing with our illusion. You be the judge and decide. :)

I am now a total Criss Angel’s fan! :D Criss Angel ROCKS!!! MINDREAK!!!

Jessica Ellen Cornish aka Jessie J

It’s not about the money, money, money…… She sings.

I love the song “Price Tag”. When I first heard it, I thought it was Pink. She sounds so much like Pink but her voice is more crisp. Then I heard her singing “Who You Are” last week, I fell in love with her voice even more.

According to her, “Who You Are” is a song that she wrote, and to encourage people to be who they are, especially the teenagers. Indeed a very meaningful song. Sometimes we think too much to ourselves, we wanted to please others so much that we lost ourselves and we lie to ourselves so often that we forgot who we really are.

Don’t lose it all in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It’s okay not to be okay
Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart
Tears don’t mean you’re losing
Everybody is bruising
Just to be true to who you are

Listen, to every word that she sings, and feel it. If you have been through something at some point in your life, listening to this song is just going to stir that memory up.

Somehow, I prefer the boombox version.

Nasi Lemak 2.0 & Namewee

Namewee, has become a “household” name that almost every Malaysian knows. No, I would not want to crown him as our “hero”. He is merely a brave Malaysian who dares to follow his dreams and has the guts to speak out, where most of us do not have! He also is one that does not give up nor succumb to failures. He is a man with courage. I am also not saying whatever he did was right (although some I think are necessary), but I salute his courage. He is not a politician, but his actions speak louder than words and better than any politician that did nothing but empty promises.

He is a very talented person too. Have you listened to his songs other than those created controversies or got him arrested? You should listen to his other songs. He is a song writer, a guitarist and a good singer. He too, is patriotic towards his homeland. He could have had a bright career in somewhere else, but he chose to come back and contribute. Knowing all the difficulties that he may face here, he still chose to come back. Now, he is a director and an actor!

Finally, his hard-work has finally paid off, with his movie showing in the cinemas! That is one big step for him and also for the government. For a man as controversial as Namewee, for his movie to be in the cinemas, I must go and support him!!! Yes, actions speak louder than words! Been trying to get a ticket but it is always full! For the past 3 days I’ve been going to KLCC just because it was full all the time! Yesterday we went 1 and a half hours earlier and we were lucky to get 2 tickets, and that was on the fifth row from the screen! Gosh…… Namewee and Nasi Lemak 2.0 is hot!

Indeed, a very entertaining and “real” movie. Something that all of us Malaysians could relate to. I am glad to see that Namewee does not try to speak in perfect Mandarin, instead our very own Malaysian slang, that makes me feel so warmth and close to the heart. A very simple movie with a very BIG storyline and message. If you get it, you get it. If you don’t, you just won’t get it. If you try to see it from another angle, you will just get what you wanted to see. If you try to twist the story to what you wanted to see, you will never understand Namewee’s intentions of making this movie.

For 1Malaysia to work, we need more people like Namewee, think like him and act like him. Not his profanities of course!

A really nice and enjoyable movie. With all the Malay language, English, Mandarin and some other dialects, a very homey movie. I would say that his movie even got a little bit essence of Stephen Chow’s movie.

It is a good movie, and it comes from Namewee, you just gotta go watch it and show him some support so that he has the motivation to continue doing what he is doing. Malaysians, show to the world that we can unite. We are Malaysians, not Chinese nor Malays nor Indians. I am Malaysian, not Chinese.

Hoping that one day, we do not have to fill up the “Race/Bangsa” column. Our race/bangsa is the same, Malaysia.

Johnny English Reborn

It’s been a while since I last went to a cinema for a movie. Blame it on Andrew. He works late most of the time now, by the time he reaches my office, it would be 7pm and by the time we get to KLCC, it would be 7.30pm. Too late for the 7pm movies and too early for the 9pm movies. After a long day at work, to catch a 9pm movie meaning we will reach home late and tired. Argh… Forget it then.

The Smurfs, Cars 2, Nasi Lemak 2.0, Contagion, Johnny English Reborn…… All of the movies that I would want to watch, and I only managed to watch one! T__T So sad!!!

Finally, Andrew managed to make it to my office at 6.30pm! That was 2 weeks ago. Got the tickets at RM9 each, Special Wednesday. Nasi Lemak 2.0 was full! Luckily Johnny English was not.

Laughed my heart and lungs out! Johnny English Reborn is so hilarious. Thumbs up to Rowan Atkinson. He looks pretty charming as a secret agent and when he is serious. Oh boy, those suits make him look even more charming. No questions on his talents.

This time, Johnny English isn’t just about making a fool of himself. He is a hero. In fact, I find that Johnny English is smart. To compare him with James Bond and Ethan Hunt, Johnny English may not have the physical strength but he has got more brains. He does not play cool but he always tries to keep his cool when things go wrong, and things always go wrong for him. Hahahahaha. Do not underestimate Johnny English, he is smarter than you think he is.

Gosh, now I just love Johnny English even more. My favorite secret agent after James Bond and Ethan Hunt. LOL!

“You may be old, but your wisdom grows with you.” :)

Cowboys Craig & Ford

Daniel Craig’s first James Bond movie, I was impressed. His body is screaming I-am-HOT and his piercing blue eyes are oozing with temptation. His second James Bond movie, I was smitten. I’m waiting for his third James Bond movie! In the meanwhile, I always keep an eye for movies that he starred in.

First time when Andrew and I saw the trailer of Cowboys & Aliens, we were laughing away at the movie title and the plot. So lame! Hahahaha…… Saw it second time, we were both thinking, “hmm… Harrison Ford with Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde, not bad”. Third time we saw it, we were saying, “hey… perhaps we should watch it for the sake of the cast and the cowboys, it doesn’t look that bad”. Fourth time saw the trailer in the cinema, I told Andrew, “let’s watch it! I wanna see Daniel Craig, and Harrison Ford!” Hahahahaha……

Like I said it many times before, I don’t usually find a movie bad, if I said it is bad, it is really BAD. Cowboys & Aliens is just one of those movies that I would say, bad. The plot is so lame. The story is unclear, the characters are a mess, the aliens look more like monsters…… If it wasn’t for Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, guess I wouldn’t even bother to watch it. Ya, ya, I knew the story wouldn’t be good, I got attracted by Daniel Craig, that’s all. :P After the movie, I told Andrew, “sigh…… The movie would be a total epic fail if Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig weren’t in it”.

I couldn’t believe that the director was the one who directed Iron Man. I shall say he did a good job in directing, it is the story that sucks.

So folks, I have warned you. If you are a fan of Daniel Craig, you can’t miss this one, for all his charms and blue eyes and hot bod. If you love Harrison Ford, don’t watch the movie as he looks terrible in the movie. If you just want to see how bad it is, wait for the DVD then. :)

Aye Aye Captain!

I have not seen any Captain America comics. The only memory I have for Captain America, was the shield and the mask. :) Oh, and I do know another thing, he doesn’t have any superpower, all he has is the super-regenerating cells, and he can die, just like any one of us. :D That, makes him more human, more us. :)

I marked Captain America as one of my MUST-SEE’s this year! Just because I wanted to know more about it. How he became the hero of America.

Chris Evans, as the Captain America. Honestly, I was smitten, with his Captain America look! Oh dear! We know he is a charming lad in Fantastic Four (as the human torch) and the edgy-rugged fella in Push (didn’t like his role in Push), but I must say he looks so different as the Captain America! I fell in love with Chris Evans, and Captain America. Hahahaha…… I didn’t expect him to “grow” so fit and macho!

Aside from the looks, Evans did pretty well in Captain America. He showed people that he could act too. Oh, and Hayley Atwell looks so lovely in the movie!

Captain America, a very simple and down-to-earth movie I would say, but not boring. Surprisingly, it has my full concentration in the cinema. There were conversations, the quiet scenes, the not-so-adrenaline-pumping fights, but it is not boring. Strange isn’t it?

I was blown away by Captain America. Hero is not born, hero is MADE. How true it is, haven’t we seen it everyday in our life?

Also, hero doesn’t necessarily have an easier life than any of us. Now, I love Captain America. :)

Harry Potter – Goodbye

Can you believe that Harry Potter has been with us for 10 years? I was still an innocent college student back then. Hahaha.

Now saying goodbye to Harry Potter and his friends, feels weird. What is more weird, is that seeing they’ve grown from small kids to adults.

Frankly speaking, I love Hermione and Ron more. Hermione is smart, witty, pretty, down-to-earth and sincere. Ron, is humorous, loyal to friends, equally down-to-earth, always want to prove himself and just an average person like most of us. I bet most of us could relate a lot to Hermione and Ron.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 got me wanting for more. It was great. While Part 2, is so disappointing. The conversations almost put me to sleep. The predictable story-line didn’t surprise me at all. Some of the things that happened and said are lame. I went to the cinema expecting a great end, but I was disappointed.

Oh, there is one part that is really touching. Severus Snape…… A brave and yet complicated man with a love that is so strong than any other in the story. No one would have seen it coming and end in that way. Believe it or not, I shed a tear or two for Severus.

Anyway, Harry Potter has finally come to an end. A decade long of a story, has finally ended. There is a little bit of sadness. No more Harry Potter.

However, I hope there is a new “Harry Potter”. :) Not sure if J. K. Rowling  is up for it. :) Albus Severus Potter…… Hmm…… Interesting. :)

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

Citibank Weekend promo has ended, but since we are always busy (or lazy) during weekdays, so Andrew suggested to go watch Transformers 3 Sunday morning. :D I was happy as a clam ’cause finally I’d be seeing my hero again, Optimus Prime. We were surprised to see that the Citibank privilege counter is still opening during weekend, since we can still use the credit card, so we went to queue at that counter. Another surprise, weekday promo is applicable on weekends too! RM10 for a ticket instead of RM13! Yeah yeah! :D

Seriously, that girl, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, I’m sorry to say that she doesn’t look pretty to me! Gosh…… She doesn’t have the whole package to fit in the movie. Worse, her acting sucks! At least Megan Fox could act better and her tanned skin fits perfectly in Transformers. Too bad Megan Fox is not “into” Transformers now…… Sigh.

Transformers, from its name you already know it is something to do with the Autobots and Decepticons, so you don’t step into the cinema expecting a lot of story-telling and characters. Do expect a lot of actions and robot-fighting scenes. However, there is one person that I like so much in Transformers 3, Agent Simmons! :D He is still that hilarious and fearless Simmons, but one thing keeps me wondering, how did he get so rich??? Gotta re-watch Transformers 2 to refresh my memory.

When I saw Optimus Prime, I couldn’t help but went oh-ing big time! LOL! I was like “WOW… Whoa… Fuyoohhh… OOOHHH……” Not sure if Andrew (or anyone) heard all of those, they may think I was having the BIG O. LOL!

Optimus Prime is just too handsome!!! Aiyoo…… When he swings his sword and axe and gun… When he jumps, flies…… Adoihhh…… If Optimus Prime ever stands before me for real, I think I’m gonna die, he could just take my breath away! Hahahaha. Sorry if I sound exaggerating a lil, I just couldn’t help it! The cartoon that accompanied me during my childhood is now real on the big screen, how could I not get adrenaline-pumped?!

All those robots, they just look so real in the movie. The movie has the Avatar’s magic, at the end of it, you would even think that they’re real.

I feel so sad when Ironhide…… *Cries* Ironhide!!!!! Want to know what happened to him? Go watch it lah. :P

Transformers 3, unleashed all the actions and fights against the Decepticons, super duper awesome! There were a few scenes made me laugh so hard and Andrew just had to cover my mouth with his hand! LOL! Worth every penny and second of our time for a movie like this.

There’s another thing I don’t understand too. When Bumble Bee is in Camaro form, the car looks so sleek and shiny, not even a scratch! However when Bumble Bee transformed into Autobot form, the surface looks so dirty and there are scratches all over. Why? Beats me.

iPad Apps Review. Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret.

Bought this app during Mother’s Day special price, at US$0.99 (approximately RM3). What a steal! :D I am not sure of how much it is now, perhaps US$4.99.

Big Fish is really good at developing hidden object or mystery games, ain’t it? You just gotta salute their creativity and imaginations and having such great brains to come up with such great stories.

Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret, took me 3 nights to finish it. Pretty short I must say, but worth to play. Those brain teasers and puzzles, some of them are really tough and required you to go back and forth searching for objects and clues, which is pretty annoying at times. At one point, I had to go all the way back to the starting point, then returned to where I left off to finish the task. The hint works very well though! Clear cut hints were given whenever you need it.

The interactive part, of course, not as much fun as Drawn: The Painted Tower, but it is good enough. The same goes with the graphic, nothing can really beat Drawn. Story wise, the same old, same old princess/empress woke up from some sleep with no memories of what happened in the past. If it wasn’t because of the puzzles that fascinated me (trial version), and also it was on sale, I wouldn’t have bought it.

A good game if it was on $0.99. $4.99???? Forget about it. Wait till it’s on sale again.

Green “Reynolds” Lantern

10.45am. 18th June 2011. Saturday. Cloudy.

It’s weekend again. Third weekend of June, third movie of the month. Got ourselves 2 tickets for the price of one at TGV KLCC.

When Andrew and I first saw Green Lantern‘s trailer in the cinema, we were giggling at the name. Green Lantern! Sounds weird and it immediately reminded me of the Chinese red lanterns. :D Ryan Reynolds is in it! I must watch! MUST! However this Andrew wasn’t very keen. “Childish and weird”, he said! Goodness, that is Ryan Reynolds and how could he say it’s childish! Reynolds you know! *Drools* Okay, I forgot Andrew is a man, and men usually don’t get why we women go so ga-ga over some macho muscle-man. :D Ever since X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I just couldn’t get him out of my head. LOL! He has gotten so matured-looking over the years. I’ve seen a few episodes of Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place, but couldn’t really remember what it was all about, that was history long ago! But I like Reynolds still. :D

I must say he is a fine actor too. Just couple of months ago I watched Buried, one of Reynolds’ latest movie, I must say he did extremely well in it. No other actors, he is the only cast in the movie, lying in a coffin buried underground. A very disturbing and depressing movie I’d say, but also a very well-thought and compelling story. Hats off to Reynolds and the director of Buried.

All right, back to Green Lantern. I’ve never seen its comic books, so I’m not sure about the story. It’s just that the trailer looks good and I believe the movie wouldn’t be bad.

I was bugging Andrew to watch it with me and since there’s no other movie that he could think of, he finally agreed! Geez…… You see, now it is so hard to ask him to go watch a movie that I like with me. Speaking of men change after married! HA! Tell me about it!

Oops, sorry for the little drama there. Ah, yes, Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds. :) Reynolds did well, but this movie doesn’t require lot of acting skill in order to do well. Instead, it required a lot of imaginations for the cast to do well. Acting in an empty space with the people in CGI blue costume is not easy. You just gotta appreciate that part of the production.

There are some other big stars too, like Blake Lively of the famous Gossip Girls! She is just so hot and gorgeous! I’m not sure why, perhaps I’m used to seeing her on TV in Gossip Girls, I find it a teeny bit weird to see her on the big screen. And together with Reynolds, makes me feel even more weird. Hahaha. She was doing ok in Green Lantern, pretty forgettable except that she is Hal Jordan’s girlfriend.

For a moment, I thought I saw Ewan McGregor. Shoot, I’ve always mistaken him as McGregor! He is Peter Sarsgaard, of course not as charming as Ewan McGregor. :) I only remember him in 2 movies that I’ve seen, Flight Plan and Orphan. He played his bad-guy character so bloody well! It’s like he was born to be the “bad guy”. LOL. Oh, not forgetting Mark Strong who looks so cool in red as Sinestro! Too bad he didn’t make much appearances in the movie.

Also, those green suits are so cool!!! It’s just like their second skin on their body. Ooohhh… Reynolds’ body is so hot……

All in all, a very enjoyable superhero movie with some humors and action. I bet we would see more of Green Lantern in the future. Hopefully, they would keep Reynolds in it for as long as possible. :)

Somehow or rather, I find this line (below) from the movie to be, lame! Wuahahaahahahaha.

“Green is the color of WILL.” — Of all colors, it has to be green! LOL! I’m sorry, perhaps the comic writer loves green. :P

Déjà Vu

Have you ever had the déjà vu? Or feeling like you’ve seen or experienced this situation? Or you’ve dreamed about it before and it became reality months later?

According to Wikipedia, déjà vu is because our brain is playing tricks on us.

The most likely explanation of déjà vu is not that it is an act of “precognition” or “prophecy“, but rather that it is an anomaly of memory, giving the false impression that an experience is “being recalled”.[4][5] This explanation is substantiated by the fact that the sense of “recollection” at the time is strong in most cases, but that the circumstances of the “previous” experience (when, where, and how the earlier experience occurred) are quite uncertain or known to be impossible. Likewise, as time passes, subjects can exhibit a strong recollection of having the “unsettling” experience of déjà vu itself, but little or no recollection of the specifics of the event(s) or circumstance(s) they were “remembering” when they had the déjà vu experience. In particular, this may result from an overlap between the neurological systems responsible for short-term memory and those responsible for long-term memory (events which are perceived as being in the past). The events would be stored into memory before the conscious part of the brain even receives the information and processes it.[citation needed]

However, I don’t quite buy it. Yeah, it’s true to a certain extent, but not in all the déjà vu that occurred. My déjà vu is not something that I feel I have experienced it, it is something I’ve dreamed about and it becomes real at a later date.

I, am a dreamy person. Whenever I sleep, I dream, without fail. Even if it’s just a short nap, I dream. I dream every night. If I had a dreamless night, I would wake up feeling extremely tired like I’ve never slept the night before. Weird right? As people usually told me dreamless night meaning you have a well rested night and your brain never stops working if you dream and you will feel tired when you wake up from a dream. It’s the opposite for me. So, I don’t like dreamless nights.

I have déjà vu. Many times. The frequency increases as I grow with my age. During school times, I often experienced it when I went out with friends. The exact same conversations and the persons, appeared in my dream before and was happening in real. I wasn’t too sure why and I often just shrugged it off.

Déjà vu happens more frequent when I started my working life. As it happens so frequent, I got so familiar with it and sometimes I could change the outcome of it. Few months ago, was having lunch with my colleague and we were talking about some unhappy issues at work, suddenly the feeling of déjà vu hit me. Instead of telling her the exact same thing that I told her in my dream, I changed it and told her something else. The conversation took another turn and it was a happy ending instead of the sour feeling I had in my dream.

However, there are times I just couldn’t change it or avoid the fate I guess. Last year December, my boss told me a decision and I was in shock for 3 seconds then only I responded to what he said. What he told me, I dreamed of it way before that. I still remember when I woke up from that particular dream (yes, I dream of work related stuff too), I told myself it couldn’t possibly happen in real life, what a joke. But there I was, sitting in my boss’ office for real, getting that shocking piece of news. How could it possibly happen, NOW? Gosh…… I was shocked, sitting at my desk thinking about it for a very long time.

When I go out with friends, I too have déjà vu. Instead of saying/doing as what I have dreamed earlier, I often chose to say/do it differently. I don’t usually tell them I’ve dreamed about it. Sometimes watching a movie and it all seemed so familiar…… There were times talking to someone and I stopped abruptly when I realised the conversation took place in my dream before……

The déjà vu happens every now and then, still, I have not learned to accept it calmly when it comes. I still can’t get over the eeriness of it when it happens.

No, I can’t foresee the future. :) It comes as a dream, I wouldn’t know if it would happen for sure. More often than not, the dream would be so real and yet seem too unrealistic to happen in real life. Which is why when it does come true, I am usually shocked. I’ve thought of keeping a journal by the bed so that I could write my dreams down when I wake up. However, I’ve not got a chance to do that.

I like the dreams that come at night, but I do not like nightmares. I’ve had nightmares that came true too, luckily only a few, and that is enough to devastate me. I certainly and especially do not like those nightmares that make me woke up in the middle of the night crying.

Guess what, I’ve dreamed of aliens recently. :) Bizarre and can’t possibly happen, right? We shall see.

Do you know that there’s a movie starring Denzel Washington, is called “Déjà Vu”? It is a nice movie too. Well, most of the movies are nice if Denzel Washington is in it. Hahaha.

Monsters, Inc.

BOO!

Hahahaha…… Monsters, Inc., the one and only movie that I can watch over and over again without feeling bored. :D Few years ago, I went to a video store just to buy its original DVD. I once asked Andrew to convert the DVD into iPhone compatible format so that I could watch it whenever and wherever I want. When it was on the local TV, I’d watch it again. How many times I’ve watched it? I have no idea! 10 times? Maybe. :D

So, why do I love Monsters, Inc. so much? Boo is cute, Sullivan is cute, Mike is hilarious, the story-line is something new, the graphic is so pretty and “alive”, and the underlying message is just so meaningful. Need me to say more?

There’s a particular scene that I would always laugh out loud no matter how many times I’ve seen it. Sully, lost Boo along the way of running away from the evil Randall. When Sully found Boo’s eye in a garbage dump, he thought Boo was in there. He then watched the pile of garbage, which he thought Boo was in it, being sent through a conveyor belt and repeatedly crushed by the machines, his expressions are so freaking funny I tell ya!!! Even right now I am all smiling recalling that scene! Hahaha. Andrew, just couldn’t take it every time I laugh so hard at that scene, “you’ve seen it so many times and you can still laugh???” LOL. He just doesn’t get it. :P

When Mike making funny faces or doing those idiotic actions, it is hilarious too. How can I not laugh? Ya ya, I’ve seen it so many times, but they’re still funny.

The message that the movie gave me is, just like a piece of coin, everything in this world has 2 sides. It depends on which side you choose to see. That makes the world filled with people from both sides. We are lucky enough to have the freedom to choose, there are people out there who do not have that luxury to even choose their own destiny. I am glad that Andrew always sees the other side of the coin for me. Whenever I am seeing things from my side, he will tell me the different view from the other side. I am fortunate enough and grateful to get to see both sides of a story.

When we can obtain better outcome from another way (laughter from children), why are we insisting on doing what we do now (screams from children)? If only someone could point that out to us every time, we could spend lesser time finding/seeing it.

Who said cartoon/animation is just for laughs? There’s so much it can tell you when you really open your eyes and “see”. :)

iPad Apps Review. Infinity Blade.

A lot of people on the iPad Malaysia Labs recommended Infinity Blade, by ChAIR. Claiming that it has the best graphic and it is fun.

A little bit history of my gaming self. I was into RPG games, a lot, when I was in secondary school and college. I’ve played Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X and a few other RPG which I can’t recall. I was so good at them. However, I stopped playing when I stepped into college. Tried picking it up few years back when I gotten my PS2, but I realised that RPG bores me now. The repetitive fighting scenes, walking, looking for something constantly, are just not my thing anymore. My repertoire is now on finding hidden objects and solving puzzles. Hahaha.

So, I wasn’t so keen on this Infinity Blade. However, people were all talking about how great the graphic is and how interesting and exciting it is, that psycho-ed me into purchasing it! Luckily, it was on sale, $2.99 (Appx RM9). This is by far the most expensive app I’ve ever purchased from iTunes! -__- It now is $5.99.

The 3D graphic, no doubt, very fine and high quality! The whooping of sword looks just so cool! Sound effect is good too. Hell lots of weapons and armors and it is fun to slash away at those monsters and enemies. Two nights after I purchased it, I managed to kill the so-called God King (Level 50). That’s where I got confused. After defeating the God King, the game started all over again from the beginning of castle as a new bloodline. WHAT?! When I reached the God King again, it is the same God King but at a higher level of 100! DUH! Don’t tell me the game is just about killing monsters in the same castle over and over again???!!!

SHOOT! Damn! I felt cheated! Argh! Who to blame? No one except myself, for listening to others easily.

It is fun to play but repeating the whole thing again and again is just, too boring for me. Those who have played Infinity Blade told me I have to keep defeating the God King, earn more money to buy more shining weapons and armors and then unlock the dungeon in the castle to defeat yet another 3 KINGS at level 50, 100 and 150 respectively! Then, there’s another one at level 200 and right after you defeat him, there’s another knight! But the knight is easy.

Been playing it for the past 3 weeks, and I got frustrated and bored killing the God King. The endless fingers-swiping on the screen and slashing the same old enemies all the time…… Bummer. :( I stopped playing since last week. LOL!

Updated 18/06/2011: I, finally managed to defeat all of them last night. Wuahahaha. That is the end of the game, you get to choose to start another new bloodline, or to start the game all over again. I was conned by the explanation that “start new game and you’ll be able to keep your level now and excel even further”. I started a new game, but damn! All the weapons and armors I bought were gone! All back to zero except the level! TT__TT If you do not want that to happen, you might just want to start a new bloodline and buy new weapons to level up.

X-Men: First Class

X-Men, a name that is so familiar since childhood. I watched X-Men cartoons on TV with my younger sister and cousin, every weekend. Three of us were always jumping with joy whenever we got new X-Men toy. :D I still remember, Wolverine was my cousin’s favorite, my younger sister’s favorite was Rogue while my favorite was Storm and Iceman. Back then, we didn’t really understand the story, all we know was X-Men are a bunch of people with cool superpowers. Hahaha. My cousin would always bare his teeth with his hands crossed in front of the chest and chased us. Hahaha. What a childhood. Oops, that kind of give my age away and which era I’m from. Hahaha. I’m not that old, okay. :P

So, yeah, X-Men is my childhood companion too and I love it, even to this day. Andrew and I have never missed the film series. :)

However, when I saw X-Men: First Class, sort of like a prelude to the X-Men film series, I wasn’t keen to watch it. Again, I don’t see big stars in the movie. Hahaha. I was wrong, so very wrong, again.

I read a review last week from WordPress Freshly Pressed page, the blogger of course did not reveal the story of the movie, but the review was good enough to “entice” me to watch the movie! Then, Andrew’s aunt told us she brought her kids to the movie and it was good. Also, Andrew has heard some good comments from his friends and colleagues. So, we decided to watch it and see it for ourselves. :) Again, June is the last month for Citibank’s Weekends buy 1 free 1 promotion that started since January, we must grab the opportunity while it lasts. I’m so gonna miss this promotion after this, been utilising it since February and it is really a good bargain.

Good lord! I am now glad that we watched it on the big screen! No regrets! Two thumbs up!

First, we now understand where the anger of Magneto came from. Then, the painful parting of 2 good friends just because of each having a different view on one common thing. The bond and friendship between Magneto and Xavier was so strong that we could even feel their pain.

Ahhh…… Now I know how the Beast got his present physical look. Oh, and the metal helmet that Magneto is wearing all the time actually came from his “creator”. So, Mystique and Xavier actually know each other for a long time. Ohhh…… That is how Mystique went on to be on Magneto’s side.

I was cracking my head trying to recall who’s that guy that played Charles Xavier and he looks so familiar. I Googled for it, whoa, James McAvoy, the leading actor in Wanted alongside Angelina Jolie! Also, he’s the Faun in The Chronicles of Narnia.

When I saw Kevin Bacon, my jaw dropped. Hahahaha. Didn’t know he was in the movie too!!! Geez, how could I have missed that big name from the movie?! And, Hugh Jackman made a cameo appearance. LOL! Oh, I almost forgot, Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) looks charming at times. :) He played very well in the movie.

X-Men: First Class, a great movie. Though the lengthy conversations at the beginning of the movie, every X-Men film has this same thing, are pretty boring, you just can’t deny those cool actions and visual effects are indeed the plus points. Andrew and I just love those actions and magnificent effects. I was whoa-ing a couple of  times. Furthermore, it has a good story that is very close to the comic version. Definitely worth the money.

If you’re an X-Men fan and having doubts like me on this movie, don’t. It’s definitely worth to watch on the big screen. Go now before it’s too late. Well, don’t bother if you’re not an X-Men fan, you wouldn’t understand the logic of it. However, if you want to start, this is a good one to begin with so that you get a good picture of what X-Men is all about. Then go on and watch the rest of the film series.

iPad Apps Review. Awakening: The Dreamless Castle

Awakening: The Dreamless Castle, is another hidden object and puzzle-solving game from Big Fish Games.

I bought this during Mother’s Day too, at US$0.99. What a steal, now it is again on special discount, at $4.99. I wouldn’t buy it, $4.99 is overpriced.

The Dreamless Castle is a beautiful game as well. Although the graphic is not as detailed and vibrant as Drawn: The Painted Tower, it still has beautiful graphics. At some point, the puzzles are a little too tough to solve or sometimes the items are difficult to find. Took me quite a while to accomplish certain tasks and I even got a tad frustrated with the unclear clue or hint. A lot of times when I clicked the Faerie for a hint, she would just go to sleep and I had to wait again and she did not provide any hint. That’s the frustrating part. Also, some of the mini games are of same nature but different scenes, so they sometimes get pretty boring too. Some puzzles are really great and interesting though.

I love the Goblinjong a lot. After you complete the game, you unlock the Goblinjong in the Main Menu that you get to play for unlimited times. :)

The story, is a bit too old-fashioned I’d say. Princess woke up from her 100 years of sleep, on a journey to find her parents and other human, with the help of fairies and all that……

I’ve played Drawn: The Painted Tower, I must say Drawn still has the best graphics and interactive puzzles. The puzzles in Drawn are never repeated. My $0.99 on Drawn is definitely well worth it.

As for Awakening, it is a good game if it is still at $0.99 or maybe $1.99. With $4.99, you could get some other better game than this. Now, you get my hint. :)

On Stranger Tides. Captain Jack Sparrow.

Citibank buy 1 free 1 weekend promotion is ending this June. So, Andrew and I are making the advantages of it to watch movies on weekends. After this, we will either have to watch on a Wednesday or pay more. Luckily the weekday RM10 fixed price is valid till the end of this year.

Can you believe that we watched Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides for just RM9 for 2 persons? Yes, we did, with the buy 1 free 1 promotion. :D I saw Melissa gotten this Kungfu Panda tumbler weeks ago and it was really unique. So, I bought one too. Hahaha. Andrew was giggling at the size, “SO BIG!!!” He felt uneasy walking with the big tumbler after the show and walked all the way back to the carpark to leave it in the car. LOL. The tumbler cost RM14.90, filled with drinks (of your choice) and popcorn. :D I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean with the Kungfu Panda tumbler. Hahahaha.

This is the 4th sequel of Pirates of the Caribbean. I’ve never missed one. :) Captain Jack Sparrow is just too hilarious. Johnny Depp is truly an amazing actor, and charming too even with those long hair wig and beard.

However, On Stranger Tides did not surprise me a lot. A little bit, but not much. It is an OK movie, nothing makes me go “wow”. Only the beautiful mermaids that captured my heart for a while. Most of it are pretty predictable. I did have a good laugh though. Andrew blamed it on the many sequels that I have watched, that sorta made the plots and scenes expectable and the excitement of anticipation has gone. Hmm…… True, I believe.

So, if you are a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, you are just gonna like this one just like I did. If you’re not a fan of Captain Jack Sparrow and seeking only pure entertainment, you’ll get entertained indeed. :) However, don’t expect too much of a good storyline. If you go looking for it, you ain’t gonna get it. :)

ADD: Oops, I forgot to mention the forever beautiful and stunning Penelope Cruz! She is so gorgeous. What a candy to the eyes.

The next big adrenaline-pumping movie in anticipation is, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Can’t wait!!!
