Pacific Rim is also one of the much anticipated movies this year. When Andrew and I saw the trailer, both of us said the same thing, “we must watch this!” We were ooh-ing and ah-ing watching the trailer and he kept saying cool!
Those robots, they called them Jaegers, are even more magnificent than Transformers! Now, who said we need Autobots from the outer space to rescue us, we could build our own. :) Love the way that the pilots would always say the name of the moves out loud before they strike. That sounds very Janapense-Ultraman-style, but it is cool! I’m never a fan of Ultraman, but surprisingly I love Pacific Rim Jaegers.
Whenever I saw the Jaegers fighting, my adrenaline pumped up too. I didn’t feel much of that when I watched Transformers. Yeah, Optimus Prime is cool and “handsome”, but Gipsy Danger is cooler and more magnificent! I kept ooh-ing and woah-ing. The music also plays a major role in the movie. They sound pretty impressive and make the Jaegers “appear” to be very stylish. You MUST listen to the ending song played during the credits. It sounds really fantastic! And it totally matches the grandness of Jaegers. Andrew and I were still watching and listening to the song when the credits played. :D
The moment I first saw Charlie Hunnam, I thought to myself, why this man looks so weird? Somehow, I don’t find him attractive. He seems to be trying too hard to impress in the movie. When I saw the Japanese girl, I thought, why the director picked all the non-attractive people for this movie lah aiyo!!! She sounds like she was reading from the script. Saw her in the trailer of 47 Ronin, she doesn’t sound like that anymore. Luckily there is Idris Elba. Oh gosh, he exudes such overwhelming power in the movie. Whenever he appeared, you could feel the power and authority that he represented. Great actor. I didn’t recognise him in Pacific Rim. However, when I went to watch Thor: The Dark World, Andrew said when Heimdall appeared, “this the man from Pacific Rim”. My lips went “O” for a long time! No wonder they both give me the same feeling.
Apart from the rookie performance of Charlie Hunnam and Mako Mori, I enjoyed the movie a lot. If you love Transformers, you just gotta watch Pacific Rim.
“Today we are cancelling the apocalypse.” – Stacker Pentecost
And here’s the ending song, Googled for it, it’s called Drift.
I used to love horror movies (in fact I still love them) and I wouldn’t have nightmares after watching them. I could still go on with my daily life not worrying if I would see a ghost or some spirit is going to haunt me.
Years ago, when I was still a college student, I watched Ju-On together with my housemates at home. That movie, is my curse. I couldn’t get rid of those images from my head! I was so scared that I called Andrew (who wasn’t home to watch the movie together) and told him to come home IMMEDIATELY (he was my housemate back then). He would now recall that I sounded like I was just being robbed. LOL! Ju-On is really scary s*** I tell ya!
I have this love-hate relationship with horror movies since then, I want to watch them but I am also scared. Andrew doesn’t appreciate that part of me. He doesn’t like horror movies and he doesn’t understand why I still want to watch them when I feel so scared. He refuses to watch horror movies in the cinema, or I should say he doesn’t even want to watch them. I literally have to beg him to watch it with me, but he never budge. :( Luckily he said yes for watching The Conjuring in the cinema! That’s because I told him it’s based on a true story! The last time he watched a horror movie with me in a cinema (before The Conjuring), he fell asleep!!! T__T
I only watch horror movies at home when Andrew is around. Also, I will only watch horror movies after I take my shower. Hahaha. You ask, what has shower got to do with watching horror movies? All because of Ju-On lah! There was a scary scene happened in the bathroom while the girl was taking her shower…… Gosh!!! Don’t remind me of that! Andrew will always remind me to take my shower first if I want to watch horror movies. :P I dare not to go to the bathroom after watching the movies, or, I will leave the bathroom door open. Hahahahahaha.
So, why do I still love watching horror movies? Let’s just say I love the mystery or story behind every horror movie. There is always a reason behind a haunted place, and it is always related to human. Horror movies are, most of the times, telling you a story from a different perspective. Don’t you want to know why that house is haunted? Why the spirits become restless? Why the living ones did what they did? Why……
I have never watched the trailer above to the end…… Whenever I saw this trailer on TV, I would quickly cover my ears and close my eyes! LOL!!! I’ve not watched the movie too, it looks too scary. Hahahaha.
Few years back, Andrew got me this movie, Dead Silence, since I told him I wanted to watch. I put the DVD on, just 5 minutes the movie started, I close and off everything. That scene is the beginning of the trailer above too. The moment I saw it was zooming in on the bed with something covered underneath the blanket, I hit pause! I was so scared and, Andrew wasn’t home!!! I think I deserve a trophy for acting so quick to hit the pause button, it was lightning quick I tell ya! LOL!
There was once I saw this trailer on TV, can’t remember what movie is that. I didn’t know it was a horror movie trailer, I screamed the moment I saw the ghost! Idiot!!! And Andrew was laughing! @__@
Do you like horror movies?
“Come out, come out, wherever you are.” - Hide and Seek
I love Monsters, Inc.! So, I would never miss a “monsters” sequel. Right after Monsters, Inc., I already know that they were making a sequel. Finally!!! I told Andrew that no matter what, I MUST watch! Hahahaha. However, this is not a sequel. It is a prequel to Monsters, Inc. Story about the monsters before they become the employees in Monsters, Inc.
I was so happy and excited that morning, felt like a little kid again. Hahaha. You know, sometimes it is so easy for me to feel happy. :) When I saw Sully and Mike on the big screen again, I had to control myself not to yell like a kid, “Sully!!! Mikey!!!” LOL! Somehow I miss being in Disneyland, you get to do all that yelling and shouting like a kid and no one would look at you with that this-girl-is-so-weird-and-childish look.
Anyway, back to the movie. I still prefer Monsters, Inc. Monsters University somehow does not have that much of “funny factors”. It is funny, but it is also pretty forgettable. You laugh, and that’s it. It doesn’t leave a big impression on the audiences. There isn’t a particular scene that I can really remember and still laugh about. I enjoyed a great laugh, and that’s it.
I guess the movie is trying to tell us that, your performance in academic doesn’t define your future. You fail on papers, you can still well be successful in life later on. And, attitude is all that matters.
Recently, I saw this Volvo Trucks advertisement and my jaw dropped. I literally had to hold my lower jaw and close it! It was so cool!
Jean-Claude Van Damme, the famous action movie star, what is he doing in a Volvo Trucks commercial? That’s what I thought. Watch and you’ll understand.
Van Damme is old but he hasn’t lost it at all! Gosh…… I showed Andrew this, and he too went, “awesome”. You just gotta give your thumbs-up to Van Damme. Oh…… Sorry to say, I’m not a big fan of Volvo. ;) My thumbs-up and jaw-dropping moment were for Van Damme. :D
Speaking of Volvo, my friend showed me this commercial that they had it on American TV. I was laughing so hard and thought Volvo has really got to decide who their customers are.
Hilarious isn’t it? My friend said, Volvo is for vampires and he wonders how many vampires out there are driving a Volvo. LMAO!!! That commercial is so lame. Unlike Audi’s commercial with Iron Man. Vampire versus Iron Man, I’ll choose Iron Man, period. :P
Enough of Volvo jokes. :P Get back to work.
You may have noticed that I don’t write movie reviews much lately. How can a movie-goer suddenly stop watching movies? No way. I still watch movies, but I am too lazy to write about them. I blame my hormones. LOL! Guess now I am back to my normal self to start blogging/writing again. You’ll be seeing a few movie reviews in the next few days, just skip my blog lah for a few days if you don’t want to read them.
Didn’t know about Gravity until it was in the cinema and I constantly heard people raving about it. “It was so amazing that you could actually feel like you’re in the space! It was so real! It was so cool! You gotta watch it in IMAX, unbelievable! Best space movie ever!” Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…… To be honest, it didn’t attract me at all even after watching the trailer. Oh well, Andrew wanted to watch and I don’t mind since there’s George Clooney. :D
Twenty minutes into the movie, when the adventure started, I got restless. I got so impatient with Sandra Bullock’s character being so stupid and stubborn in the movie. LOL! I also got impatient with the atmosphere of the movie. Nothing is moving…… Everything stays still…… Floating and drifting helplessly…… Some said that is the power of the movie, that the experience of the character in the movie felt so real. Apart from feeling “real”, I felt boring too. -__- I got restless and impatient because I wanted the movie to end faster since I already could predict the ending. Okay, that’s how it feels in the space…… I don’t need someone to use 90 minutes to tell me that. I already know in the first 30 minutes…… @__@
Andrew enjoyed the movie, a lot. In fact, a lot of people did. I’m the odd one! What makes me more sad is, George Clooney appeared for like maybe 30 minutes ONLY!!!
Nevertheless, it’s still a good educational movie for all of us.
Not forgetting the excellent performance of Sandra Bullock. She’s such a great actress.
I was laughing hysterically and thought it would be not cool not to share this.
You know, Andrew and I always have this feeling, why all of a sudden one particular actor/actress keep appearing in movies? Last year was Jeremy Renner, this year is Channing Tatum, not forgetting last year movie The Vow. Suddenly they become hot cakes and everyone wants them in their movies huh. :P
Well, I’m happy to see Channing Tatum though. He’s just so charming. :) I wasn’t happy with his brief appearance in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Watched The Vow recently and found that he could act well too if given the right role, not just a handsome guy with great body. So, of course I’m happy to see him in White House Down. :D
When I saw Jamie Foxx, as the POTUS, I turned to Andrew and asked, “is Jamie Foxx THAT old? He certainly doesn’t look THAT old to be the President.” In the movie, he is more like the happy-go-lucky type of Mr. President. I was laughing so hard when he kicked the bada** in the face and said through his gritted teeth, “get.your.hands.off.my.jordans!” It was so hilarious!!!
Both Andrew and I agreed that White House Down is more entertaining that Olympus Has Fallen. White House Down has more humour elements while Olympus Has Fallen is more dry and serious. Also, White House Down’s storyline is more convincing than Olympus Has Fallen. Last but not least, Channing Tatum is more handsome than Gerard Butler. :D Oh, and I prefer Jamie Foxx than Aaron Eckhart.
The movie is full of actions and you will never ever feel bored, not even for one second. The twist at the end of the movie, is pretty unpredictable. Kudos to the director and script writer.
I know it’s a little too late to blog about Man of Steel now when the heat is gone. I just didn’t have the time and mood to blog about movies. As some of you may know that it ain’t easy to blog about movies.
I was attracted to Man of Steel, not because of the handsome and macho Henry Cavill, but more because I wanted to see what kind of “man of steel” they made this time. I love Superman Returns back in 2006, love the way Brandon Routh portrayed Superman and love the story. I was hoping after so long, Man of Steel could (if not better than the previous one) at least remind us the story of Superman again.
When Andrew saw the Superman standee outside the cinema, he shouted, “Look! Superman not wearing underwear!!!” I laughed so loud! Before the movie, I’ve been hearing people saying finally Superman now learns to wear underwear on the inside, or that he has grown up that he doesn’t need diaper anymore. I’ve not heard anyone saying Superman not wearing undies!!! LOL! Andrew’s the first!!! Hahahaha. I was shocked to see the new Superman doesn’t have the red undies on the outside. To me, that is Superman’s trademark, same with the cape. If you remove it, he just looks like yet another superhero. But this is Superman! The superhero of all superheroes. How can he be ordinary like other superheroes?! :(
First half an hour of the movie was about what was happening on Kryton before it exploded. After that, more stories on what happened back then and there. It was a delight to see Russell Crowe, but I don’t appreciate the movie focused so much on what happened on Kryton and the feud between General Zod and Jor-El. The movie seemed to lose its focus on Superman. I felt like they were making a movie to tell what happened to Kryton and General Zod’s story.
Superman’s character was not well defined. Although we know what Superman went through to be who he is today, it would be nice if the director could focus more on his childhood and teenage time. Those periods were mostly briefly described. I didn’t expect to see this in Superman Returns because we all knew it was on Superman’s adulthood, that he went missing and returned. However in Man Of Steel, the director showed us the childhood and yet he didn’t show enough.
The same goes to Lois Lane’s character. With all due respect to Amy Adams, she’s a great actress, but I don’t think she’s suitable for Lois Lane’s character. She looks too sweet to be Lois Lane. In the movie she did appear to be strong and stubborn, but I find it forceful.
It was another surprise to see Kevin Costner. How perfect for him to be Superman’s human father. He totally nailed it.
I find the movie to be a bit long. I got so impatient towards the end. When the Kryton’s craft finally exploded, I thought to myself, “finally! Finished!” When I saw General Zod came out from no where (how the hell he survived the explosion was not even explained), I sank deep into my seat and told Andrew, “my gosh…… when is it going to end?!”
There were times the conversations were boring and unnecessary. The superhuman fighting scenes were boring too. You got two superhuman throwing fists at each other and you don’t even know who’s beating who. I know, I know. Superman is fast and this is expected, but it’s just, boring. The way how Superman finished General Zod, gosh…… What?! Just like that???!!! That was really… lame. :(
I was so disappointed with the movie. I still prefer the Superman portrayed by Brandon Routh. Handsome, with a bit of sorrow in his eyes. Gentle, yet stubborn. Strong, but fragile. I personally feel Henry Cavill’s Superman is too macho, too rogue. Perhaps I shouldn’t compare the two of them. After all, it’s two totally different movies. Well, I just can’t help it. :)
P.S.: About the new costume, it’s a love-hate thing for me. Love that it has texture, the new “S” logo, the flowy velvety cape and the new boots. However, what happened to the underwear??? :| Okay, I must admit Superman looks cooler without the underwear, but it also makes him lesser of a Superman. Don’t you think so?
Every 2 or 3 years, we get one Fast & Furious movie. How cool is that? :)
I must say that this is one hell of a sequel that hardly disappoints. This is one of the rare movies that has 6 sequels and each sequel is still the most anticipated one.
Fast & Furious has always been on our “must-watch” list. This time, after watching the trailer of Furious 6, Andrew told me that this time it may not be good. The trailer showed too much of stunts by CGI, not the real stunts. Andrew was expecting fast cars, races and stunts, not some visual effects that you can get in any other movies. So, we went to the cinema with low (I could even say NO) expectations. I on the other hand, wanted to watch it just because I have been watching it since the first and wouldn’t want to miss the sixth.
The beginning was boring. I’m sorry to say that Vin Diesel just couldn’t do emotions. Hahaha. He has this poker face. :P Lucky that the movie started to pick up the pace after 20 minutes. Then, there was no turning back. Actions after actions, jokes after jokes…… This is one fast & furious movie with the most humorous scenes. Tyrese Gibson (Roman) and Chris Bridges (Tej) are so funny. I think the movie would be a little boring without them, and the jokes would not have the same effect coming out from others. :D
If you want to watch this movie, please throw your logics out of the window. There’s totally no logic in some of the scenes. I was totally enjoying myself and not bothering of the logics part. Furious 6 is still a very entertaining movie. You can still see fast cars, races and stunts. There’s a bit of CGI here and there, but it’s not as bad as we expected.
Finally, in this movie it was revealed how the Tokyo Drift is connected to Fast & Furious. Oh boy, Jason Statham appeared! I can’t wait for the Fast 7!!! The original director Justin Lin would not be directing Fast & Furious anymore. Keep our fingers crossed that the next one would still be good if not better.
P.S.: The scenes on the aircraft and runway were ridiculous and drama though. A military type of cargo plane couldn’t lift 4 cars??? Are you kidding me??? One car managed to pull down a (again) military type of cargo plane??? The runway took forever to end and coincidently it ended before the car crashed??? Are you seriously serious??? Oh, don’t forget that Vin Diesel became the flying superman landing on a car without even a scratch, or an “OUCH”. OUCH! Like I said, throw all your logics out of the window.
Andrew and I don’t like to “squeeze” with the crowds, we often wait until the second or third week after the blockbuster movie starts showing in the cinema. Especially for movies like Iron Man where everybody is “fighting” for a seat, we’d rather wait.
However, last month when Iron Man 3 started showing, we went to visit Andrew’s aunt and she suggested to go for a movie. We went to TGV in 1 Shamelin Shopping Mall, gosh, all Iron Man shows were sold out! Aunt Felicia didn’t give up, when we reached home, she went online and bought tickets for Iron Man 3 in TGV KLCC. LOL! Thanks to her, we get to watch Iron Man 3 while it was still HOT. :)
Tony Stark is what makes Iron Man human. I must say that Robert Downey Jr. really plays it very well and given the iron suit the heart and soul. He’s telling us that even superhero has his weaknesses and fear. It is the fear, that makes them do the impossible, that makes them heroes. Tony Stark’s fear of losing the love of his life, Pepper, he would do anything and everything to protect her. That includes giving up his own life.
I shall not write anymore, it’s all in the movie. :) Iron Man 3 is very easy to understand.
No matter if you’re a fan of Iron Man or not, you should watch this. It’s not just about superhero, invincible shield and actions. There is romance, friendship and trust.
P.S.: I was so freaking surprised when the true identity of Ben Kingsley, Mandarin was revealed in the movie! No one would have thought of that! I couldn’t believe it! Ben Kingsley, a great actor indeed. :)
Finally, managed to catch a movie last night. Was so tired with the work, watching a good movie could offer me the relaxation that I longed for although a short one.
Andrew and I have never heard anything about “Tom Cruise has a new movie this year”. When we saw the trailer in the cinema few weeks ago (when we went to watch GI Joe), we were so surprised. Surprised that Tom Cruise has a new movie, also surprised that we’ve not heard or read anything about “Oblivion“. I couldn’t help but felt “oblivious”. :) How apt.
Of course, anything with Tom Cruise in, is a must-watch for me. :) For Andrew, the director is good enough to lure him in, it was the same director who directed Tron: Legacy. Just the trailer alone already showed quite a number of similarities to Tron.
The simplicity of colors, costumes, weapons and technology in the movie, is truly outstanding. Everything is so simple and clean but amazingly hi-tech. The beautiful hi-tech resident sits amongst the ruined and damaged city creates such a strong contrast. I asked myself, do I want to live in such a beautifully and nicely built house and sacrifice the earth, or live in the nature of the earth without the technology? Well, must we sacrifice the nature for the advancement of technology? Must we also sacrifice the usefulness of technology to protect the nature? Can’t we have both?
Sorry for the side track, back to the movie. :) Same director, same rules. Love the colors of the costumes/uniform, they’re so clean and uniform. In Tron we have those lighted race cars and bikes, in Oblivion there’s drones. :)
Thumbs up to Tom Cruise! Without his good performances, I honestly think that the movie wouldn’t be so great. He could make the boring scenes bearable and needed. Not because of his looks (of course he is handsome), it’s his ability to make you pay attention and listen to him. You just can’t deny his talent.
The movie was progressing pretty slow but not boring. The director, Joseph Kosinski is smart in keeping the audience suspended. Revealing the truth bit by bit, left you doubting what you’re thinking, wondering what the end will be and wanting to stay until the end. It’s pretty much a romance story, but not lacking the action too. I didn’t know sci-fi movie can be so simple and “clean”. The visual effects are so neatly done.
Surprisingly, this is one sci-fi movie that I asked less questions. I didn’t find anything in the movie that I don’t understand. It is so easy to understand and interpret if you pay attention.
Oblivion is a great movie if you’re a sci-fi fans. If you’re a romantic, you’ll love this too. For me, I love it. Cool story, great backgrounds, great actors, exciting action, pretty visuals…… Need I say more? :)
How long since I last went to the cinema and watched a movie? My goodness, that was before Chinese New Year! New record! I don’t know why and what we are busy with, Andrew and I just can’t seem to have the time for movie even during weekends. Two weeks ago, Andrew’s colleague gave him some TGV complimentary tickets, we went to the cinema twice and there wasn’t any good movies on. Until G.I. Joe came.
When we saw the trailer of G.I. Joe: Retaliation last year, we thought “whoa! cool!” However, 30 minutes into the movie and I felt disappointed.
Characters weren’t well introduced, most of them were there in the movie for show. The main actor in The Rise of Cobra, Duke (Channing Tatum) died too soon in this sequel. Storyline is weak. Snake Eyes didn’t get to show off much of his ninja skills. Storm Shadow looked so weak. If Lady Jaye is there to show how pretty she is, I seriously wish the director would get someone who is really pretty and has the character, like Megan Fox. This Lady Jaye just doesn’t have that look. The Rock is again the muscle guy that can’t act. :( G.I. Joe is famous for its high-tech weapons and gadgets, but we don’t see many of that in the movie!
What is wrong with the sequel? :( There were even a few scenes which I honestly think that they are stupid. Also, there were jokes that didn’t even sound funny. When someone pushed the crates and they tumbled on Storm Shadow and he fell, I was like, “what the…… He is a ninja, c’mon! How could a ninja get hit by crates???!!!”
If you’re not a fan of G.I. Joe, you may skip this movie. If you’re looking for action movie, this isn’t your cup of tea either. If you’re a fan of Bruce Willis, please choose his other movies to watch, don’t waste your time.
Honestly, this movie didn’t make a big impression on me. I won’t even watch it for second time. The first movie was so impressive, but the second just failed. Sigh.
Do you believe that the more you deal with idiots, the more likely you will become one too?
What do you do when you’re surrounded by idiots?
I still can’t seem to handle idiots well. I still get agitated by them. Especially when they do idiotic stuff that really push me to the edge. ARGH! Someone said don’t argue with idiots, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with it. It is easier said than done. :(
Recently, I start to feel like I am an idiot too. :(
If I were any smarter, I would have gotten out of this hell hole and stop complaining.
My heart is singing,
Somebody save me
Let your warm hands break right through it
Somebody save me
I don’t care how you do it, just stay, stay
C’mon, I’ve been waiting for you.
When will my superman come to my rescue? T__T
:D I love Daniel Craig for a reason…… His eyes. I think he could just hypnotise me by asking me to look into his eyes for 5 seconds. Hahahahaha. Look at his blue eyes, you’ll understand. He has got this charm too that you just can’t take your eyes off him in a movie.
So, how can I miss Skyfall then? I’ve been bugging Andrew since the day it came to the cinema, busy with work and stuff, I told him I MUST watch this by hook or by crook. Hahaha.
I’ve heard a lot of people saying that they’re very disappointed with the movie. I’m surprised. The movie, to me, turned out to be great. This time, it required more concentration from the audiences than the previous 2 movies. However, I don’t think it’s that bad to the extent that it’s boring or dull.
Action scenes were here and there, not too intense but sufficient for a James Bond movie. It was more like “getting smart” with the villains than the merely physical fighting and battling through. As all of us know it, all the previous James Bond movies relied on a lot of gadgets. However in Skyfall, you wouldn’t see many of those gadgets flying all over the place. Just a few of them are impressive enough to make you go “WOW”. Most importantly, this time you’d get to see a more brainy James Bond. :)
James Bond’s background has always been a mystery, but finally we get to see it in Skyfall. So, James Bond is just another troubled kid like most of us. Hahahahaha……
The movie has a different twist at the end. Never would I expect that Skyfall was actually a place. Before I went to the movie, I thought it could be about some terrorist attack using some kind of airborne weapon, hence the name of “skyfall”. Little did I know I was so wrong. :P I find that it was a bit lame though to use the name of a place for a movie title. It does sound nice and mysterious, but lame.
Another twist is I never expected M to die! Oh dear…… The graceful and yet fierceful M died! T__T That is tragic. However, am glad to see Ralph Fiennes as the new M. :D He looks so old now, I was smitten by his charm too once upon a time. Hahahaha.
Andrew and I love the movie. We love the fact that the James Bond played by Daniel Craig, is more human compared to all those previous James Bond. This James Bond, is scarred. As always, we believe hero is made, rather than born.
If you’re a James Bond’s fan, you shall not miss this. Whether it’s good or not, you’ll not want to miss this. If you’re not, you’ll find this boring. If you’re looking for excitement and action like The Expendables 2 and Bourne Legacy, you shall not waste your money on Skyfall.
P.S.: In the cinema, I was sitting beside this group of young people. When the scene showed MI6 Headquarters with the subtitle “HQ – MI6″, the “boy” (early twenties perhaps) next to me said this loudly to his friend, “M-Sixteen!!!” I nearly lost control and burst out laughing!!!!!!!!!! I was covering my mouth and laughing on Andrew’s shoulder!!! M-16 for goodness sake!!!! Clearly, he isn’t a fan of James Bond. Or perhaps, he doesn’t even know about James Bond. No one would ever think it was referring to M16 although the alphabets do look like it. I still couldn’t get over it, I laugh whenever I think of it. M-Sixteen!!!! Good one BOY!
*Took me 2 weeks to finish this post! My mind is not at its usual state, few things happened lately and work is crazy and messy. It’s very difficult to think and write at this point in time.*
I guess it is only right to say, those who have seen Taken, would have jumped with excitement when they know there would be Taken 2. I am of no exception. :) Furthermore, I’m a fan of Liam Neeson, how can I miss this one? :P When I saw the trailer of Taken 2, I’ve already told Andrew that “I MUST WATCH THIS”! LOL!
Some of you may not know why I have this strong admiration for Liam Neeson (old man), it all thanks to his VOICE. I’ve mentioned in my blog here many times that I have a thing for men with sexy and husky voice (not that kind of old grandpa’s voice OK!). Liam Neeson’s voice, unbeatable! If he ever says to me, “let’s run away with me, Ashley”, trust me, I would. LOL! Just imagining of how my name would sound like from him is already making me weak at my knees! Wuahahahahahahahaha…… Of course, not just his voice, his acting is great too. :P
Ok, back to the movie. If you’ve not seen Taken, you don’t know what you’re missing. I concluded that Taken 2 was great, but Taken was even better! I believe a lot of people would agree with me. Taken was filled with back to back suspense and action, there was never an empty window that would leave you feeling boring. I was holding my breath every minute when I watched Taken. It was so exciting and enjoyable to see Liam Neeson kicking all the bada**. You would want to glue your eyes to the screen until the movie ends and you would want to know so much if he got his daughter back.
Taken 2, nice. When I saw Liam Neeson got taken too, I was like, “those people are idiots to want to mess with him”. Hahahaha. Well, I wonder what the story would be if his daughter was taken too.
In the movie, other characters were pretty forgettable. The movie focused so much on Liam Neeson, almost made him like the new Jason Bourne. I was so impressed with the character he played, Bryan Mills. Just like I was impressed with Jason Bourne, only that Mills is much older. :P
If you’re looking for a lot of explosives, gunfires and blood, you would not get a lot of them in Taken 2. If you do not like the idea of Taken, do not even bother to watch Taken 2. If you do not even know or like Liam Neeson, this is definitely not for you. If you’re watching it hoping to just get entertained, yes you will but don’t expect it to be extremely entertaining like The Expendables 2. If you’re a fan of Liam Neeson, you should watch it no matter how, nuff said. :P
Love this specific conversation between Bryan Mills and his daughter:
Mills: Can you shoot?
Mills: Then drive.
Okay, this is going to be the last of the movies marathon I had last week. :P
When I saw the beginning of the trailer, I thought it was some other movie. Jeremy Renner suddenly got so HOT after his role in The Avengers. When I heard “Jason Bourne was just the tip of the iceberg”, I went “WHAT?!” O__O Jeremy Renner, is another Outcome, not Jason Bourne.
Andrew and I have been the fans of Jason Bourne, we’ve never missed any of the Bourne series. Firstly, Matt Damon played so well as Jason Bourne. Secondly, all the fighting and action scenes were so real-life, it makes you start thinking that all this could well be real and happening. Then, it was the pulling factor – they successfully created a story that makes you always want to know more and what’s going to happen next. The hide and run turned into a kill and pursue, it’s almost like telling us to face our darkest moments before they get to you. Andrew and I also like the song that appeared in every Bourne series.
I was having mixed feelings with Jason Bourne gone. It’s a Bourne movie, how can it be without Jason Bourne? This is like a James Bond movie without James Bond. However, am glad to see Jeremy Renner as the new Outcome. He always has this look that makes him look like a good guy and yet can be bad and vice versa. The same thing that Matt Damon has. Now, here’s why Matt Damon quit playing Jason Bourne.
The Bourne Legacy was one of our many MUST-SEE movies. Guess what, we managed to grab two 2D tickets at RM13 only!!! Thanks to RHB promotions. :) Now we prefer 2D as compared to normal. 2D means high definition, everything is so crisp and clear.
The story of The Bourne Legacy is rather, simple and boring. An Outcome agent went loose, all of a sudden he is on the run and everybody is trying to kill him. If it wasn’t for the action and fights, I would have yawned. Things are pretty predictable. A good show anyway, simply because Jeremy Renner played it well. You gotta give credits to him. Nice try Renner. :)
The character played by Edward Norton, sigh…… What? Who did I just say? Oh, Edward Norton…… He is a great actor, but it’s a shame that his role in the movie is so forgettable. Still remember the lady in The Bourne Ultimatum, Pamela Landy (Joan Allen)? See, I could still remember her! But Ed Norton, he is more like a dog barking orders to others in the movie. I don’t get the point that they were trying to tell me that he is the brain of the operation and he IS smart. I just simply don’t feel it. Sigh…… What a waste.
I must say the previous Bourne movies were better. Honestly, if they changed the movie title to something else, I would have regarded it differently, perhaps higher and better. It’s one of the Bourne series, the expectation is there. I expected a better and interesting plot. From the first to the last minute of the movie, I practically correctly predicted everything. To me, this is the lowest standard of the four.
This is another example of, the movie doesn’t live up to the hype of trailer.
Wish we could see Jason Bourne and Aaron Cross together in the future. Andrew said, “it’s the trend now, reunion of everyone, like The Avengers”. :D
Now, this is the song that appeared in every Bourne movies. Andrew and I love it. :)
I know, I know…… Some of you may already have that question at your lips/fingertips, waiting for the right moment to ask, “since when you become a movie critic, Ashley?”
I’m not a movie critic, or movie reviewer or whatever you may call it. It’s just that, I LOVE watching movies. Going to the cinema and catch a good movie is considered therapeutic to me. Writing about what I have watched is a way for me to remember how I felt there and then about the movies. Sometimes after I read again on how I felt about a certain movie, I end up watching the movie a second time, or third time. Also, this little brain of mine seems to often forget what movies I’ve watched. To have a record of the movies I’ve seen, seems like a better idea than keeping all the ticket stubs. :)
I’ve missed out chances of catching a few good movies in the cinema. Last week, it was the payback time. :D Andrew and I managed to catch a few good ones consecutively! Ahhh…… Do you know that it is a bliss to be able to go to the cinema for a movie? :)
When I saw the trailer of Total Recall, I was stunned. I told Andrew, “seriously?! They did a remake of Arnold’s Total Recall!” I was excited and sceptical at the same time. Excited with the cast, Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale, this is something I don’t want to miss. Sceptical with the story, the backbone of the original story is there, but the environment is different. How could you remake a movie in a different environment? Wouldn’t it change the course of the story?
Colin Farrell looked so young in this movie, is he really that young? Or perhaps those other movies made him looks old. You gotta admit that he’s a good actor despite his personal life. I first know him from Phone Booth, Andrew was the one told me, “you gotta see this poor fella stuck in the phone booth being played around by another man”. Then, he just got more and more famous.
Okay, back to the movie. The story is a little different from the original, set in a new background, but the essence of the story is still there. I must say, impressive. Love the new age and city, and all the technologies…… There were a few scenes that even got me went “WOW”. I can safely say that it is better than Total Recall of 12 years ago. And Colin Farrell is definitely more handsome than Arnold Schwarzenegger. :P
Sci-fi fans, this movie is your thing. For those who don’t like sci-fi story, you are going to have a tough time understanding the story behind. Required lots of imaginations. :) Any lacking in imaginations and interests, will definitely make you go “huh?” Don’t expect interesting dialogues or conversations in the movie, you won’t find it. :P Just enjoy the thrills that a sci-fi movie can bring. :)
2 years ago, I regretted of watching The Expendables. I was so disappointed with it.
2 years later, now, I enjoyed watching The Expendables 2!!! It was great! More kick-a** scenes this time around, and more humours. All of a sudden, it has become such an entertaining movie! I was surprised that I enjoyed it! I went it the cinema with a sceptical mind, I came out with a big smile and was talking non-stop about the movie. :D Well, I must say it is because of the director. The Expendables was directed by Sylvester Stallone, whilst The Expendables 2 was directed by Simon West! The director of Con Air! Now, you know why the different of standard between The Expendables 1 and 2? :P
I must say, Arnold Schwarzenegger stole the lime light whenever he appeared on the screen. How can we all forget Mr. Terminator’s all-time-famous line? “I’ll be back”! Andrew and I were laughing hysterically when he first popped his head out of the truck and said, “I’m BACK!” That was totally classic!
I’m glad to see that finally Jason Statham is kicking some a**es seriously!!! Oh boy, he looks more charming than he did in Expendables 1. Dolph Lundgren on the other hand, didn’t leave much impression. He was more like a muscle-man without a brain in the movie. Sigh…… Can’t believe he’s in his 50′s too. Still remember his best-known character in Universal Soldier, which I’ve watched countless of times because my dad loves that film. He was one of the most sough-after action movie stars back then!
There’s one more hot bod from the Universal Soldier, Jean-Claude Van Damme! How can we ever miss him out from the action heroes list?! (Thanks to my dad, that I get to know all these great action movie stars and movies.) When Van Damme appeared, Andrew was surprised and whispered, “VAN DAMME!” Hahahahaha…… A “loud” whisper. Both of us didn’t expect to see him in this movie! We didn’t catch even a glimpse of the trailer before, so we were surprised. Chuck Norris surprised us even further! Are you kidding me?! CHUCK NORRIS!!!
I still love Bruce Willis the most. :D No doubt he’s old, but he is still looking good and charming! Love his “botak head”! Hehehe…… He is one of the examples of the-older-they-get-the-better-they-look! I was laughing so loud when he replied to Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie, “you’ve been back enough! NOW I’ll be back!” LMAO!!!
The movie, was totally entertaining. With lots of humours and classic lines from all those classic action movies…… Unforgettable. Andrew said, this is like “The Avengers”, only that they’re real human and older. :)
You definitely don’t want to miss this “reunion” if you’re a huge fan of all those action movie stars. However, don’t expect a good story or anything from it. Honestly, the story sucks. I still enjoyed it, simply because of all the great actions and actors! I’ll still give it a 2-thumbs up. :)
There’s a young man in the movie which I find rather familiar, the voice, the face…… He looks like someone…… Or I’ve seen him in some other movie before…… Google-d it when I was home, ahhhhhh…… No wonder I feel the familiarities…… Liam Hemsworth, Chris Hemsworth’s brother!!! But, he also looks a tad bit like Hayden Christensen.
A much anticipated movie, the last Batman from Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, with Anne Hathaway as the cat woman, then the Aurora shooting…… A bad note for the movie……
The Batman in Christopher Nolan’s eyes is a dark one. Of all the batman series, I somehow enjoyed the one created by Nolan and portrayed by Christian Bale. Batman seems to be so human and vulnerable, just like any one of us, and any one of us can be the Batman if we stand up to fight.
The Dark Knight Rises, 4 years after The Dark Knight, such a long wait. It is worth the wait though, an amazing movie. The movie was long, 2 hours and 45 minutes! However, never did Andrew and I feel the time passing. We were so engrossed in the conversations and everything in the movie. It’s rare to see such a lengthy movie without feeling bored at some point of time. It was a really great movie, a great end to the series. I would say the most flesh and blood Batman of thus far. Even though Gotham city is not real, Nolan somehow managed to make it more real life and I can relate to it easier. The previous Batman from other directors, always gave me the feelings that “I’m watching a show”. However, The Dark Knight Rises made me believed that everything in there could happen in our life. Hats off to Nolan.
Anne Hathaway looks so beautiful in the movie! She fits perfectly fine as a Cat woman! I think after Michelle Pfeiffer, she’s the next one that really fits the character so well. Whenever she appeared, my attention would be on her. She’s so attractive.
I nearly dropped my jaw when I know it was Tom Hardy who played Bane in the movie! The not-so-tall, good looking, hot bod Tom Hardy???? My goodness! Bane was so BIG in the movie! He was like double the size of Tom Hardy, how could it possibly be him???? And yes, it is him. No wonder I find the voice so familiar. Seriously, I really wonder how they did it…… One moment they’re so fit and slim, the next they’re so BIG and fat……
Love the twist of the story at the end, who would have thought…… At the end, Bane has my sympathy.
Two thumbs up for The Dark Knight Rises. Hopefully, we will be seeing Robin soon. :)
Didn’t intend to watch Snow White and the Huntsman, but MIB3 and Madagascar 3 were at a later time (we didn’t want to wait that long), Brave only has 3D and Andrew doesn’t like that, and both of us are not really interested in Abraham Lincoln. So, Snow White was the only one left and I would love to see Charlize Theron as the evil queen. :) RM14 for 2 tickets, cincai lah (anything goes).
Again, Charlize Theron is beautiful!!! She was such an evil queen but she looked so beautiful in the movie! So beautiful I think I breathed in a few times when her pretty face appeared up-close. Andrew who hardly compliments also agreed that she is beautiful! Hard to believe that Charlize Theron could look so evil with that pretty face.
As for Kristen Stewart, I’m sorry to say that I have no love for her. Blame it on Twilight. I’ve seen the first movie of Twilight and that’s it, I hate it. Hate the fact that she was like reciting from the script with her lousy acting, Robert Pattinson was no better either. I don’t think that they’re handsome and pretty as what others have been saying. Give me a break. I really wonder why they picked Kristen Stewart to be Snow White. Sigh…… Her acting in Snow White is not getting any better too. I couldn’t feel her “passion” when she was giving a supposedly passionate and encouraging speech, her role as Snow White has not moved me at all. I couldn’t believe that I felt nothing for Snow White! SIGH…… Side track a little: Andrew told me Kristen Stewart is the highest paid Hollywood actress now. I was like, what the…… Just because of Twilight?????!!!!! Ish……
Was surprised when I saw Chris Hemsworth, didn’t know that he was the huntsman! The movie poster definitely doesn’t do him any justice. Anyway, still prefer his look as Thor. :D Don’t forget Sam Claflin! I was having that deja vu thing in the cinema, find him looking familiar. Then, was watching Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides for the second time on TV, and I went “THAT’S HIM!” Sam Claflin, William in Snow White is also the pirate who fell in love with the mermaid in Pirates of the Caribbean! Hmm…… I must admit he looked better in Snow White, what a candy to the eye. :P
If the movie didn’t have Charlize Theron as the queen, I would say it’s a bad movie. Charlize Theron somehow lightened up the whole movie with her evil role. Also, the dwarves were so real! Spotted another Pirates of the Caribbean’s cast in Snow White, Black Beard is Beith the dwarf! The story, Snow White, supposed to have some romance element, but I seriously didn’t feel it. Kristen Stewart just couldn’t get the message across, she looked so “life-less” in her expressions. Sigh……
You gotta watch this movie to admire Charlize Theron’s beauty and her evilness. Hats off to her acting too. If you don’t like Charlize Theron, you can forget about watching this movie. Other than Queen Ravenna, the rest of them are so forgettable.
