Lucky End of 2011

Year 2011 ended great!

Lucky star was shining upon me at the very last minute! I got the present from the MD, and it’s an iPad2!!! :D Although I have one, who wouldn’t be happy to win another one? :) I was so happy! When the MD called my name, I thought he was joking! LOL!

image

Un-boxing my new iPad2 :D From the MD. Now, Andrew is using my 16GB whilst the 32GB new iPad2 is mine. Wuahahahahaha…… :P

My boss was telling me not to stop dreaming yet. Just before I managed to ask him what he meant, he handed me a L’Occitane paper bag with a gift box inside. “Here, for you.” I was so surprised! This is the first time he bought me a Christmas gift! Double happiness! :D Andrew was saying it’s an appreciation gift as well. Hahahaha……

image

It’s a Peony Set! :D Aww… Smell lovely!

image

On the contrary, I feel a teeny bit of uneasy. Yes, he appreciates what I have contributed thus far, that is also sort of reminding me to continue doing the best. Do you see that invisible “pressure” haloing over my head? -_- Ohmmmm…………..

Will the good luck at the end of year 2011 follow me to the year of 2012????? I hope so! Ah…… Everything is so full of hope now.

I am so full of hope even with the house issue I have with Kubiq.

2012, end of the world or not, let’s live like there’s no tomorrow. :) Cheers!

The Smurfs!

Nope, I’m not a big fan of Smurfs. Used to watch the cartoon Smurfs when I was a child, but I barely remember their names. I only remember the song! Hahahaha. Few months ago when the movie was on, I started humming the tune of the song whenever it came to my mind. Sometimes in the car, out of sudden, until Andrew said, “again?!” LOL. Sometimes in the office… in the shower……

Guess what, there’s this Smurfs’ Village game on the iPad! And, Andrew downloaded it on his Android phone and he too is now so into it!!! I can’t believe that he is “farming”!

Finally, get to watch The Smurfs on DVD. Didn’t go to the cinema as it really didn’t appeal much to me. DVD would do just fine.

Aww…… The Smurfs look so cute in the real world! Ah…… Thanks to the advancement of technology, Smurfs are no longer 2D. :D Love, love, love Smurfette! Okay, seriously, I fell in love with those blue people. :)

Guess everyone now knows about those little blue people living in their own blue community. I do not like the way they run their community though, it’s too monotonous and boring. :P

Oopsie… Time to harvest my crops in the village! Hahahahaha……

Laptop Vs. iPad2

What does it imply when I hardly use my lappie? Adoih…… I haven’t been using my lappie for few weeks and I am not missing it at all! Mak oiiiii…… I am now on it just to back-up my iPad! -__-

My laptop has been serving me well, but it starts to give signs of “ageing” recently. Starts slow, the date always stops (CMOS battery is dying), been telling me errors every now and then, respond is damn slow, shutting down also slow, open an application also takes ages…… Sigh. Please, you have been serving me well, don’t die on me just yet! No! At least stay with me for another year. I’ve been taking great care of you, you can’t die, okay?

Speaking of the iPad, I bring it to work occasionally. It’s my best companion when I’m stuck in the traffic jam. I do not need to on my lappie (taking out the cable, mouse, on the switch and put it back into the bag… is troublesome) at night, iPad has the best games that could keep me occupied. I can basically do everything on the iPad, except playing Facebook games, which I don’t play at night.

Now you see, the power of iPad. Again, you wouldn’t understand what I am feeling or going through if you do not have one.

I still love my lappie, but iPad is more convenient now.

I couldn’t thank Steve Jobs enough, for making iPad a reality.

Apple Will Never Be The Same

The world lost another great inventor and visionary, Steven Paul Jobs.

I am sure there is a lot of blog posts about the passing of Steve Jobs. I am not going to blog about his life as you can easily read it up in Wikipedia. Here, it is only how I feel about him and his Apple’s products that I owned or own or will own.

I have always felt amazed with Apple’s products. 12 years ago, when I saw an iMac, I thought the design was amazing and pretty, a breakthrough from all the common computers. However, I also thought that it was a luxury item to have, seeing that it cost so much more than a desktop of other brands. To own an iMac, has become my dream. Over the years, the iMac evolved, the desire of wanting it got stronger and stronger. I know I just gotta have it, someday, later. It is no longer a luxury item that I desire, it has become a need for better quality.

When I saw an iPod 10 years ago, I thought that was cool! The smallest MP3 player I’ve ever seen back then! Again, it was something that I could not afford. Even when I could at the later days, I no longer needed an MP3 Player. But it must have felt nice to have one.

There came the MacBook. OMG! A white laptop! WHITE! I was gasping when I saw the white MacBook. Again, the price was a big hinder and I stopped fantasizing of owning one. Then the MacBook Air!!! I started to salute Steve Jobs for his never-ending creativity and ideas.

The iPhone! It is pure God’s gift to human. A touch screen handphone, from Steve Jobs. When I touched it, I knew I was doomed. I knew I was going to have one or I’d never change my handphone. I was a proud and happy owner of an iPhone 3G, for 1 and a half years, until my carelessness do us part. The pain of losing it, still hit me every now and then, and I still miss it. I have a great Android phone now, but I still miss my iPhone. It’s weird, that when you have something greater and nicer but you still miss the old one.

If it isn’t because of the weight of the iPhone 4, I would have owned one too today. iPhone 4 is just too heavy to me and I do not feel the comfortability that I used to feel with iPhone 3G when I held it in my hand. I was no longer an iDevice user, for 6 months.

I was so tempted to get an iPad but I waited. When iPad 2 launched, on its very first day I went all the way to Klang to queue. With the iPad 2 in my hand, I felt a sense of relieve and ecstatic. Relieved as I am once again owning an iDevice, ecstatic because I was thrilled with the white iPad. Yes, call me silly, that’s how I felt to have an Apple.

Am I an Apple fan? Yes, I definitely am. Am I a Steve Jobs fan? Yes, no question about it. However, now that Steve Jobs is gone, I am not so sure if I would still be fascinated and excited with Apple’s new products. I stand firm on getting an iMac when I am able to in the future, but any new products from now on without Steve Jobs in the picture, I am not so sure. I believe the engineers and Tim Cook will do their best to continue Jobs’ legacy, but it is just NOT him anymore. Apple without Steve Jobs (although he stepped down from CEO quite some time ago, now he is gone forever), is different.

Steve Jobs is gone, and he took a part of the passion I have for Apple with him.

Farewell, Steve Jobs. May you rest in peace. We love(d) you, and thanks for all the wonderful things you’ve created. You will never be forgotten.

iPad Apps Review. Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret.

Bought this app during Mother’s Day special price, at US$0.99 (approximately RM3). What a steal! :D I am not sure of how much it is now, perhaps US$4.99.

Big Fish is really good at developing hidden object or mystery games, ain’t it? You just gotta salute their creativity and imaginations and having such great brains to come up with such great stories.

Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret, took me 3 nights to finish it. Pretty short I must say, but worth to play. Those brain teasers and puzzles, some of them are really tough and required you to go back and forth searching for objects and clues, which is pretty annoying at times. At one point, I had to go all the way back to the starting point, then returned to where I left off to finish the task. The hint works very well though! Clear cut hints were given whenever you need it.

The interactive part, of course, not as much fun as Drawn: The Painted Tower, but it is good enough. The same goes with the graphic, nothing can really beat Drawn. Story wise, the same old, same old princess/empress woke up from some sleep with no memories of what happened in the past. If it wasn’t because of the puzzles that fascinated me (trial version), and also it was on sale, I wouldn’t have bought it.

A good game if it was on $0.99. $4.99???? Forget about it. Wait till it’s on sale again.

iPad Apps Review. Infinity Blade.

A lot of people on the iPad Malaysia Labs recommended Infinity Blade, by ChAIR. Claiming that it has the best graphic and it is fun.

A little bit history of my gaming self. I was into RPG games, a lot, when I was in secondary school and college. I’ve played Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X and a few other RPG which I can’t recall. I was so good at them. However, I stopped playing when I stepped into college. Tried picking it up few years back when I gotten my PS2, but I realised that RPG bores me now. The repetitive fighting scenes, walking, looking for something constantly, are just not my thing anymore. My repertoire is now on finding hidden objects and solving puzzles. Hahaha.

So, I wasn’t so keen on this Infinity Blade. However, people were all talking about how great the graphic is and how interesting and exciting it is, that psycho-ed me into purchasing it! Luckily, it was on sale, $2.99 (Appx RM9). This is by far the most expensive app I’ve ever purchased from iTunes! -__- It now is $5.99.

The 3D graphic, no doubt, very fine and high quality! The whooping of sword looks just so cool! Sound effect is good too. Hell lots of weapons and armors and it is fun to slash away at those monsters and enemies. Two nights after I purchased it, I managed to kill the so-called God King (Level 50). That’s where I got confused. After defeating the God King, the game started all over again from the beginning of castle as a new bloodline. WHAT?! When I reached the God King again, it is the same God King but at a higher level of 100! DUH! Don’t tell me the game is just about killing monsters in the same castle over and over again???!!!

SHOOT! Damn! I felt cheated! Argh! Who to blame? No one except myself, for listening to others easily.

It is fun to play but repeating the whole thing again and again is just, too boring for me. Those who have played Infinity Blade told me I have to keep defeating the God King, earn more money to buy more shining weapons and armors and then unlock the dungeon in the castle to defeat yet another 3 KINGS at level 50, 100 and 150 respectively! Then, there’s another one at level 200 and right after you defeat him, there’s another knight! But the knight is easy.

Been playing it for the past 3 weeks, and I got frustrated and bored killing the God King. The endless fingers-swiping on the screen and slashing the same old enemies all the time…… Bummer. :( I stopped playing since last week. LOL!

Updated 18/06/2011: I, finally managed to defeat all of them last night. Wuahahaha. That is the end of the game, you get to choose to start another new bloodline, or to start the game all over again. I was conned by the explanation that “start new game and you’ll be able to keep your level now and excel even further”. I started a new game, but damn! All the weapons and armors I bought were gone! All back to zero except the level! TT__TT If you do not want that to happen, you might just want to start a new bloodline and buy new weapons to level up.

iPad Apps Review. Awakening: The Dreamless Castle

Awakening: The Dreamless Castle, is another hidden object and puzzle-solving game from Big Fish Games.

I bought this during Mother’s Day too, at US$0.99. What a steal, now it is again on special discount, at $4.99. I wouldn’t buy it, $4.99 is overpriced.

The Dreamless Castle is a beautiful game as well. Although the graphic is not as detailed and vibrant as Drawn: The Painted Tower, it still has beautiful graphics. At some point, the puzzles are a little too tough to solve or sometimes the items are difficult to find. Took me quite a while to accomplish certain tasks and I even got a tad frustrated with the unclear clue or hint. A lot of times when I clicked the Faerie for a hint, she would just go to sleep and I had to wait again and she did not provide any hint. That’s the frustrating part. Also, some of the mini games are of same nature but different scenes, so they sometimes get pretty boring too. Some puzzles are really great and interesting though.

I love the Goblinjong a lot. After you complete the game, you unlock the Goblinjong in the Main Menu that you get to play for unlimited times. :)

The story, is a bit too old-fashioned I’d say. Princess woke up from her 100 years of sleep, on a journey to find her parents and other human, with the help of fairies and all that……

I’ve played Drawn: The Painted Tower, I must say Drawn still has the best graphics and interactive puzzles. The puzzles in Drawn are never repeated. My $0.99 on Drawn is definitely well worth it.

As for Awakening, it is a good game if it is still at $0.99 or maybe $1.99. With $4.99, you could get some other better game than this. Now, you get my hint. :)

Silicone Back Case for iPad 2

We went to the new section in KLCC where all the electronic stores are, and I spotted this iPad2 silicone back case! It is only RM39.90! Of course I grabbed it without any further thoughts. Hahaha. It comes with a few colors, and I chose the most striking of all, orange. :D

Was still worrying if the case would be too small to fit as it looks pretty slim and small. Luckily, it fits nicely and firmly onto the iPad 2.

Love the back case as the front still looks pretty much bare but the back is fully protected. Actually I did not intend to get any protection case for my iPad, just leave it bare as it is. Since this is cheap, why not then. Happy! :)

Don’t ask me what brand it is. No brand. LOL. There is this new electronic store in KLCC, level 3, next to Sony Wing, it’s called Challenger. I only saw it on the way out of the store. Hahaha.

The front. Pretty much bare with only the orange frame visible.

iPad Apps Review. Drawn: The Painted Tower

iPad 2 isn’t the first iDevice that I own or owned, had an iPhone 3G that was lost last year and briefly owned the iPad 1 for a month before I gave it to my nephew. I could have started writing the App reviews when I had an iPhone, but I did not. With the iPhone, gaming wasn’t my main purpose but more of texting, surfing the internet and sharing & obtaining information.

Now with the iPad 2, I do a lot of gaming. I am not a person who fancies listening to music or watching movies on a small device like this. When it comes to music and movie, I prefer the conventional means. :)

Since the Jailbreak for iPad 2 has yet to be released, all we can do is download the FREE apps or BUY. Most of them are at an affordable price, which is US$0.99. Whenever there’s some special holiday or occasion in the US, there will be some special price slash off the regular price. That is the best time to quickly grab the app that you like.

I am into hidden object or mystery games. I am not sure why. Guess I prefer games with a story to tell rather than blindly playing it just to get to the finish line.

Long story short, here’s the first app that I’m going to review, Drawn: The Painted Tower, by Big Fish Games Inc. For the full description of the game, click the link above. Am not going to repeat here in my blog about what you can find there.

I’ve been a fan of Big Fish Games since Yahoo! Games. They developed one of the best graphic games other than EA Games. Most of Big Fish Games on Yahoo! are a hit.

I, as expected, was frantically looking for Big Fish Games when I got my iPad. Hahahaha. Download the trial version of Drawn: The Painted Tower, and I fell in love with it. The regular price for a full game was $6.99!!! That is like RM21. Ridiculous. I wasn’t going to buy it. I remember it was $6.99, but now it is $9.99!!! That is even worse!

Mother’s Day came, Big Fish was having a huge discount for all the games! WEEEEEE!!! The Painted Tower became $0.99! Delighted and within seconds, I was downloading the full app. :D

The graphic of The Painted Tower is simply awesome. The interactive part is so interesting. Every scene and location is so strategically intertwined together. The story is amazing too! The puzzles tease your brain so much that it only makes you want more. Some puzzles are tougher but definitely you will be able to solve them. Some of the puzzles even make me giggled for a while. Haha.

The hiccups (of course there’s some hiccups in every app), after playing it for a long time, it takes a bit longer to load the scenes. My solution to this, when I’m done for the day, I’d off the iPad and on it again. It sorts of like let your iPad rests for a while and everything will be running smoothly again. I do this not just when I’m on this game, I do this now and then when I feel the iPad is in need of a reboot. I’ve seen people complaining about the game crashes very frequent, that doesn’t happen to me though, not a single time. *Touch wood* Other than this, nothing much to complain about. :)

Best graphics top with a well-written storyline, definitely an app that you must not miss, if you are a puzzle lover. :) Also, provided that you are willing to pay $9.99 for it. :P

The Culprit

Sorry for the lack of updates here. Life’s been busy, been travelling between 3 states for the past 2 weeks. Tired.

As you may now know, I have a new toy, my iPad2. Now, you can blame all you want on my iPad2. Hahahaha. The only thing that occupies most of my time now. I hardly on my laptop when I’m at home (poor lappie).

Some people wonder, what is so good with iPad that everyone (almost everyone) wants to have one. Trust me, you will never know its magic until you personally touch one! Play around with it for 5 minutes, and you will know what I mean.

One could live without iPad if one has not experienced it, but one could never live without it when one has it. Go ask any iDevices users, they will tell you the same thing. I’ve heard people being so skeptical about iDevices, yet they couldn’t resist the temptation of the “i” and ended up owner of an iDevice too. :)

Yes, yes, I could blog from my iPad too, but I was just not in the mood for blogging. :p Perhaps my life is getting boring with the iPad now back in my life? Hahahahaha. Perhaps, just perhaps.

iPad is just like a little library on the go, you can store so much of information inside and easily access to it wherever you go. Speaking of gaming, nothing beats the App Store. The gaming experience on iPad is so overwhelming. There is still so much more that you can do with the iPad.

Other than that, recently I’ve been keeping my eyes on this Facebook page and blog, iPad Malaysia Labs. They are providing information on the iPad which is pretty accurate and reliable. No nonsense and untrue rumors. They are so helpful in answering any dummy questions about the iPad. There are some fun activities to keep the readers/fans entertained too. :)

I usually bring my iPad everywhere I go, except if I know it’s gonna be a day out with no time to sit and relax. I even bring it to work everyday, not that I can use it when I’m at work, but the feeling of it is there when I need it somehow makes me feel comfortable. :) Yeah, I’ve come to a point that I can’t live without my iPad. My best companion of all time.

The main culprit that takes up most of my time –> my lovely sweet iPad2. :) I shall officially name it Sooshi. :D

Sooshi with my favorite Bleach wallpaper :D

Hidden Objects Mania

I’m not sure why, but I love hidden objects games. I used to download Yahoo! Games, or bought from the PC shop on all those PC games. Andrew too is wondering why I love them so much. Hahaha. Then, I stopped playing for a while.

When I had my iPhone, I didn’t download many of them, ’cause the screen is too small and too painful for me to look for those hidden objects. Now I have my iPad, with its retina display screen, how could I miss out all those fun anymore? :)

I’ve been downloading a lot of them!!! Most of them are from Big Fish games. Bought a few of them when there was a sale for Mother’s Day, $0.99 each. Drawn: The Painted Tower, Awakening: The Dreamless Castle, Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret and Hidden Expedition: Amazon. Drawn remains to be my favorite. It has the best graphic and interactions. Hidden Expedition is not too bad as well.

Here’s the hidden objects games that I downloaded. Most of them are free trial version, to purchase the full version usually costs $2.99 and above. :( A bit too costly for me. I’d rather wait for the iPad jailbreak.

Incase For iPad

Having such a high-tech gadget in your hands, spent so much of money and the urge to protect it from scratches and cracks, especially for a fussy pot like me who likes everything in its original sleekly state, I was hunting for a case/cover for my new toy.

Bought a leather book jacket for the first iPad and it cost RM229! My parents were saying that I am crazy, but hey, will you want to spend that RM229 or will you want to get your two-thousand-ringgit iPad scratched? Plus, iPad is so sleek and there isn’t anything to grip on or to make it stand, having a cover/jacket was the most sensible thing to do. Okay, sorry, I guess my parents aren’t going to understand the sensible-thing-to-do-with-that-ipad. Hahaha.

Not much choices for iPad2. Either you get the smart cover which leaves the back of your iPad2 bare! Or go for the leather jacket which cost a bomb!!! The price has increased! The leather jacket for iPad2 similar to the one I bought earlier for my nephew, is now without the Velcro strip and there is only 3 standing angles, needs RM259!!! DUH! RM30 more but lesser stuff and thinner leather?????? What the heck…… Was wandering in Machines outlet for half an hour and still couldn’t decide which cover to buy! Okay, forget it. I ain’t gonna get any cover for the time being.

Surprisingly, just when you aren’t looking so hard, something came out of nowhere and saved your day!

Saw this Incase Nylon Sleeve with Handles in Isetan!!! Hmm…… Why is everything having that “I” thingy? “I”setan is selling “I”ncase bags for “i”Pad. See, you get what I mean?

I told Andrew, this is it, I gotta have this bag!!! RM249, was lucky that there was this 20% discount thingy on Labour Day. After discount, RM199.20. To me, it is so much better than those leather jackets. The bag with the handles which means I can carry it instead of squeezing it into my handbag (which means I have to carry bigger handbag), the faux-fur lining protects the screen of my iPad and the weather resistant nylon is thick enough to provide better protection. I love the handles, you can also tuck them back into the pocket. Also, there is a pocket at the back where you can keep your accessories! And, it comes with a simple stand for the iPad! It is so cool!

However, when I take my iPad out from the bag, it is still bare and no grip. :( Sigh. Anyway, right now I am still happy that I got this Incase bag. At the very least, it is now not so troublesome for me to bring my iPad out. :)

Incase has so many products for the Apple stuff! Good news is, they ship international! Guess I’ll be an Incase customer from now on.

The stand that comes with the bag.

It’s The i In Small Caps

This, isn’t my first iPad. It’s my second, in ONE year!!! Hahaha. Bought an iPad for nephew for his excellent results in PMR and UPSR. I promised him a gift since he was 12. Now he’s 16 and got straight A’s in his PMR, how could I delay again. Glad that he likes it and hope he could put it to good use.

I was having the iPad for myself for a month before I brought it home to my nephew. Having tasted the sweetness of iPad, it was so tough to let go! Seriously, you would not miss it if you don’t have it. Once you have it, you can’t live without it, and you’ll be wanting more. Go ask any Apple users, they will tell you the same thing!

After handing the sweet iPad to my nephew, my life suddenly became so dull and boring. I didn’t find the need to on my laptop whenever I got home from work. It was never boring again when I stuck in the traffic jam (Andrew was driving of course). When it is gone, gosh…… I never thought iPad could change so much of my life. I’m hooked! Ever since then, I have been keeping track of iPad2 news! When was it going to be released in Malaysia, or perhaps HK and Singapore. I was counting down everyday!!! With another iPad2 enthusiast! Hahahaha. We constantly update each other on the iPad2 news!

When the rumors came, I had my doubts. The day after, it was 70% affirmative that iPad2 was going to launch on that Friday. 3rd day, another friend confirmed that it was true. All of a sudden, we were so excited and thrilled!!! With some help from “some” friend, I managed to get one without going through much agony!!!

Gosh, I was so happy when I paid for it. Hahaha. Finally, I could bring it home with me!!! After I’ve lost my iPhone, I’ve been missing those Apple “juice” madly! Geez…… Finally!!! YAY! Hahahaha……

It was fun too, to have gone through the experience of getting something with a big crowd. It was even more excited to see everyone having the same purpose and interest and passion!

All the iPad fanatics, I salute you! Apple rulez!!!!!! :D

An Apple a day, keeps the doctor away. :D

It’s the Pad with an I. :)

P.S.: A big thank you to my friends, who helped me in getting the much sought-after toy in today’s world. :)

Wish For A Wish – Birthday

What? It’s that time of the year, again? Geez…… Time is really flying pass!

Guess what, this year I’ll be having my birthday in Melbourne!!! Hahaha. Did I choose the dates on purpose? Of course I did! LOL! Well, with a little bit of coincidence. I can’t wait, you know, celebrating birthday in another country! How’s it going to be? I don’t know. Perhaps there won’t be any celebration, but it is still going to be a special one. :D Go on laughing, but silly Ashley is all smiling at just the thought of it.

New iPad 2 is out! Gosh, with front and rear camera! 30% thinner than iPad 1! And the iPad 2 smart cover! Have you seen it? Gosh…… Though it still looks pretty the same with iPad 1, iPad 2 is simply gorgeous (although the rumors about the UBS port stay as a rumors, bah)! It has white! Furthermore, the price is going to be the same as iPad 1!!! AHHHH!!! I want one!

Emailed Andrew yesterday about my birthday wish, he in return, emailed a link to me, about iPad 2 is just a teaser for iPad 3, which is coming real soon. Nah, that was bulls***. Even if it was real, it won’t be so soon. Do you think Apple is stupid enough to mass produce the iPad 2 now only to launch iPad 3 soon enough to replace iPad 2? They sure are going to make a big fortune first!

iPad 2, when are you going to be mine???

Watch this video and you’ll get “poisoned”. LOL.

True Revelation

My precious is gone. I’ve been cherishing my precious for so long, not a scratch on it, and now it’s gone. I still feel sad. After all, it has gone through all the good and bad times with me for the past 1 and a half year. All my precious memories are in it! Sigh…… My carelessness……

You are right, I lost my precious baby iPhone. T__T I’m not sure if I was so blur to put it on a pile of clothes or someone has stolen it from (inside) my bag when I was crazy shopping. Just right after talking to Andrew on the phone, and it was gone the next few minutes. I was pretty calm back then, with 2 ladies accompanying me, their faces definitely looked more stunned and shocked than I was! Hahahahaha……

Sadness aside, I’ve gotta go through the stage where I had to decide which phone I should get! Ever since iPhone, I’ve not laid eyes on other handphones, nor kept abreast with the trend. I was clueless. I know Android, Andrew’s having one, which I do not fancy. Thought of BlackBerry, but gosh, hate those qwerty keypad. Then I saw this HTC Aria, looks cool and cute, good for ladies. Well, the salesman then recommended HTC Wildfire. Android still, but easier to use than Andrew’s HTC Desire.

Chit-chatting with the salesman for quite a while, I couldn’t really decide if I should go for iPhone 4. I do not like iPhone 4, the feel of it in the hand, the weight, the design…… The interface is not much different from iPhone 3G/S. Plus, iPhone 3G S still needs a good RM1750, and iPhone 4 costs RM2600!!! Sigh…… Tough decision, but I knew iPhone 4 is a no-no.

The salesman then took out the killer weapon, he said “just to let you see”. Geez…… See…… Gosh…… When he switched the phone on, I knew, “this is it, I’m doomed”. Everything is pretty similar to iPhone, some even better, but iPhone still has the best applications. It’s ok, I can live with it. Pity the Wildfire, was put aside by me and never gets to follow me home.

Here it is, my new baby, not to replace my precious iPhone, but am loving it too. :)

The Hello Kitty Live wallpaper. :D “Someone” is going to LIKE this a lot. You know who you are, my friend! This is for you. Hahahaha.

The interface and the apps. :D Now getting the hang of it, not as complicated as I thought it would be.

Phobia, now I keep checking my bag to see if my phone is still there, I keep zipping and unzipping to make sure no one can put their hands in, I hold my bag so tight under my arm and I am paranoid towards the crowds around me. No offense, but anyone could be a thief even though they look prim and proper. A lesson learnt, shall be more careful and vigilant. The price is just too much. :(

My preciousssss…… T__T

Flash An Apple

I didn’t know the fact that Adobe Flash is not working on iPhones until I have one of my own. For the past one year, I have been telling people who have asked me “how is your iPhone”, that “it is good but it doesn’t support Flash”. It isn’t a major issue to me as I have thousands of games I could download from the Apple App Store that do not require Flash. They are amazingly fun. But still, I couldn’t play the Flash games in Facebook. Yes, I play Facebook games.

Today, a friend shared an interesting and informative article written by Steve Jobs (just in case you do not know, Steve Jobs is the co-founder and CEO of Apple), it gave me a whole new insight on Flash. I have to admit unashamedly that I was wrong to assume “Apple doesn’t support Flash”.

Thoughts on Flash ~ Steve Jobs, April 2010

If you’re wondering why Flash isn’t on iPhone, iPod and iPad, like me, you should read it. Don’t even bother to click the link if you’re not into all these, because it is a pretty long article. LOL!

Without Flash on my iPhone, I could still play games, surf net, watch videos on YouTube, make payment, book a movie ticket…… Well, almost everything, without Flash. Now, now, why on earth was I so grumpy about “Apple doesn’t support Flash” in the first place? It isn’t a big deal after all!

Hmm…… This is bad. Bad, bad, bad. No, no…… Ashley, put that thought away! “You aren’t seriously thinking about GETTING that iPad, are you?!” Erm, why not? Since now I don’t see Flash as important as I did, iPad without Flash is just as interesting as iPhone, probably more. :D Let’s wait for the iPad in Malaysia then. Hyak hyak hyak…… *Grins evilly*

P. S.: It totally blown my mind away when I know the facts that Adobe Flash is so slow in adapting to the world changes and yet everyone (almost) is thinking it is Apple’s fault not to have Flash in its products. We, sometimes look at the surface of things and do not bother what’s underneath or behind them. Everything has 2 faces/sides. Undeniably and unfortunately, I am just as ignorant as everybody else. What a tight slap on my face. BAH!

A Year With YOU

Still remember last year when I first saw you, I thought you were something that I could only salivate for from far. First time I held you, the feeling was overwhelming. I would never want to caress or hold others anymore. I recalled I kept turning back to look at you when I was leaving. From that very day onwards, all I could talk and dream about was you. Even Andrew could feel my feelings for you. Yes, it was that strong.

Andrew couldn’t bear with the sight of me missing you terribly and miserably, he offered to take you in so that you and I could be together! Aw, that was so sweet of him. I was in cloud nine meeting you again. Gosh, finally, YOU ARE MINE!!! To hold you once more and knowing that we would not part anymore, that was one of the many sweetest moments in my life.

There are times you would give me troubles and problems, but I could live with that. Off late you have been acting kind of slow, I am fine with that too. I am still happy to be with you. The fact that I do not look for others like you, that shows that you have been a great companion to me. I wish for no replacement and I do not want to think of how life would be without you.

I feel guilty though, that I am secretly hoping to see another newer, trendier and faster YOU. How unfaithful I am. But… But……

Okay! Enough of killing my brain cells over that little iPhone of mine! LOL!!! Sorry that you have to read through all those craps only to know that I am talking about my phone. :D I am feeling so bored with work. So, came in here to get a little creative. Hahaha.

Time can really travel so fast…… I felt like it was only yesterday when I first gotten it. Never had I imagined I would be an iPhone user, but look, it’s been a year!

I have written a few reviews on my iPhone too. All in all, I am still loving it. If you don’t compare it with the 3GS, you wouldn’t feel annoyed. Recently my iPhone 3G is kind of slow in responding and loading. Too many applications I guess. But that shouldn’t slow it down since iPhone is made to fit in all those applications.

Am now eyeing for iPhone 4G, been waiting for it to show its face. Apple has really got its way to hide things from the public!

Eventhough iPhone has its limitations, I am still one satisfied iPhone user and owner. I do not keep abreast with the handphone trends now, ’cause I know there won’t be any other handphone I’ll be interested in. It is always going to be Apple iPhone for me now. Call me vain or plain showing off, there are people out there who would tell you the same thing about their handphones too. :) So, I am not alone.

Now revealing what I have in my iPhone 3G. Total of 8 pages, not a lot I think. But gotta slim it down, it’s been a while since I last organized them.

iPhone Review #3

3 months into using iPhone. Ashley, Ashley, are you getting bored with it already? LOL. No, hell no. I still love every bit of it. The applications, the games, the videos, the map, the internet…… All working so well. No regrets. About the myth that some people told me I’d ditch it after 2 months of using it, to me, that is just a myth.

I use iPhone for a lot of internet browsing. Checking the news, Youtube, blogging, Facebook-ing…… And with the new OS3.0, I can now do internet tethering!!! Did that when I was in Terengganu. The speed was ok since it’s on 3G.

The copy and paste function is awesome. Also I can forward SMS now. I have yet to try the MMS.

There is a new applications now, voice recording. The voice recorded is so crisp and clear!

Sad that I still can’t do video-recording. Sigh.

Someone told me, iPhone is very childish because she has seen some 16 year-old boy using it. LOL! And she has not seen teenagers using any BlackBerry. Hahaha. If the equation works that way, BlackBerry equals to an old-man’s phone? For Matured Adults Only. LOL. Also, someone told me iPhone is hell complicated to use and the settings are all so troublesome. Well… One man’s food could be another man’s poison, as the saying goes.

No doubt, iPhone looks cheeky, sleek and more fun. Picture this, a very successful business man with all the macho hunky features, holding a sleek black iPhone, touching it with his index finger. Hahahaha. Instead, he’s holding a black macho-like BlackBerry, pressing the buttons with his thumb. That looks way better.

Well, it all boils down to personal preferences again. If you hell love iPhone/BlackBerry, you’ll love it doesn’t matter if it goes well with your look. Am I right?

So, stop finding excuses for loving/hating that phone. You love it because you love it, and you hate it because you hate it. No excuse needed. ;)

Hey, when did my iPhone review became iPhone Vs. BlackBerry. Geez… I’m so off-topic!!!

Okay…… Back to iPhone. Now there’s a new iPhone 3GS. I have not seen one here. The look isn’t any different from the iPhone 3G, but 3GS can do video-recording, with 3MP camera. The speed is also supposed to be faster. If at all Maxis is going to get the 3GS, I bet Andrew is the next one owning iPhone. LOL!

That’s all for now.

iPhone Review #2

My first review on iPhone was about a month ago. Now, one month after using my iPhone, what I would say is, it is still a great phone in all aspect. I bet a lot of people out there may not agree with me. But there are also people out there who would be nodding their heads when they read this. :)

Now, let’s look at the flaws of iPhone 3G. Yep, I would say it does have flaws too. And I chose to use the word “flaws”, because I believe that the Apple people must be working hard to improve this gadget. Therefore, all the flaws will be improved and fixed.

I can’t receive nor send MMS via my iPhone 3G. Whenever I received a MMS, I have to log in to the Maxis website to view the MMS. Hassle huh? Well, the iPhone 3G now is of version 2.1. There’s a new version (OS 3.0) coming up soon, hopefully by June. It will solve the MMS flaw then.

I can’t make video calls. Wait a minute, I can make a video call, but the other party wouldn’t be able to see me as there is no camera on the front of the phone! That is something that could not be fixed by simply downloading a software. Unless they have a new iPhone with frontage camera.

Someone asked me if I could delete my SMS one by one. No, I can’t. The SMSes sent to/from the same person, are stored in way of conversation dialogue. It’s either you clear the whole conversation or delete all the SMSes. If there is only one particular SMS that you would like to keep, sorry, you still have to keep the whole conversation. I wonder if the OS 3.0 could improve that.

Also, copy and paste function is currently not available in iPhone. That is particularly irritating when it comes to chatting in MSN with your friends, blogging, or trying to copy a website address to some other place. Good news is, OS 3.0 is going to fix that! :)

Everytime I plug in the USB to my computer, the damn syncing process starts automatically! And it takes bloody long time to sync and backup. When the syncing is in progress, I couldn’t do anything to the iPhone! Unless I cancel the syncing.

Okay, one major flaw is that, I can’t record video with iPhone!!! That is a bit disappointing. Unless you do a jailbreak on it, else you can’t record any video! Heard that there’s going to be a new iPhone come this June and Apple may improve on iPhone’s camera and possibility of video recording. Read it here.

Recently I noticed my iPhone is slower in responding time. Getting into the SMS screen is like 2 seconds slower, getting out of a game screen also took about 2 seconds now. Perhaps I’ve downloaded and installed too many applications. But that shouldn’t be the cause of it since iPhone is famous for its applications. Probably it’s the bugs of respective applications.

The good thing about iPhone 3G guess I’ve said enough in the previous review. There’s one more interesting thing about this phone, it’s the accelerometer. Nowadays most of the smartphones are having this accelerometer, such as HTC. I can now play bowling like real, swing and release. :)

Another good thing is the battery recharging. I can plug in to any PC for recharging without installing any complicated software. I know Nokia can’t do that, wondering if Blackberry Storm can do that. :p The USB cable is much lighter than bringing the whole plug out and having the troubles to find an electrical output. And if you happened to plug in your laptop for that one and only electrical output you could find, the USB way of recharging is definitely what you’d wish for.

The camera of the current iPhone 3G is only 2mp. But I would say that it is performing well. I’ve seen people showing me their 3.2mp camera phones, the quality? Oopsie, worse than my iPhone 2mp camera! LOL! I ain’t gonna tell you what 3.2mp camera phone they are. You go compare and find out. I guess sometimes you can’t just judge the quality of the photo by looking at the megapixels of the camera phone. You have to look at other aspects too, such as the manufacturer, the technology……

I wonder why Apple is not giving the best to the iPhone. I mean, the camera could have been 3.2mp or maybe even 5mp. All those flaws that I’ve mentioned above could have been easily detected and improved on when they developed it, instead of launching a lower spec model and provides upgrade later. And now with the rumours everywhere saying that there’s going to be a new model of iPhone 3G coming this June. The public might just stop buying the current model then, like what Andrew is doing now. Hmm…… Guess that’s what people always said, you can’t have the best of both worlds without paying the price.

Anyway, iPhone still rocks. I love it, still.

iPhone Review #1

After 2 weeks of using iPhone, I am now so in love with it. It’s worth every penny I spent.

Previously, some people told me iPhone isn’t all that nice and there’s no great value for the amount of money spent on it. Well, I paid RM2290 for a 16GB iPhone, compared to the Nokia N96 which costs RM2999 (retail price for an original phone, not AP phone), I’d say RM2290 is money well spent.

I love its big screen. Love the display of the applications that I do not have to scroll through each of them. I can download any application directly to my iPhone without having the hassle to connect it to the PC. With the USB connection, I can connect to any PC without installing any software like what I’ve seen with other handphones. I can recharge my iPhone whenever it’s connected to the PC. I can delete the applications with just one touch, I do not need to connect it to the PC to remove them. And I could reinstall them from the App Store without any hassle. It automatically checks update for the application. There are so many free games and applications. I can keep track of all the SMS-es from the same contact in one page. Accessing emails from handphone has never been so user-friendly. Web-surfing on iPhone is so easy. iPhone isn’t a camera phone, but surprisingly the photos quality are quite good. Video qualtiy on iPhone is of course stunning. I’ve synced some of the photos taken by my DSLR to the iPhone, gosh… They look better than how they look on PC!!!

Ok ok… Enough of praising the iPhone. Of course, every handphone has its good and bad. The first “bad” of iPhone is, the battery doesn’t last long if the 3G is on. Last week I had to recharge the phone almost every day as I was on 3G pretty often then.

Then, it’s the trouble of pressing the home button after I’m done with the games. There’s no such option saying “Exit Game”. There were a few times it hanged for a few seconds before the home screen appeared.

iPhone uses iTunes to sync. You have to download the iTunes application to your PC. Everytime syncing the iPhone with the iTunes on the PC, I have to to make sure I checkmark all the applications and photos I had previously synced. If I didn’t check them, the applications will be deleted from the iPhone!!! Gosh.

Last Saturday, I experienced my first “iPhone crisis”!!! Alright, I know I exaggerated a little bit. Okay, I did exaggerate. Hahaha. What happened was, all of the sudden I couldn’t access to all the applications I installed! After I “touched” them, it kicked me back to the home screen again. Lucky thing is, all other applications came with the phone still work. Only those I downloaded and installed later couldn’t function well. Had to sync them to the PC to remove them from the phone and sync them back again. Geez……

Now it is the converting part that irritates me. God knows why my lappie couldn’t convert the song to a ringtone for iPhone! It only works on Andrew’s lappie. Also, couldn’t convert the format of the videos on my lappie too!!! ARGH! iPhone bullies my lappie. :( Probably it’s because my lappie runs on Windows Vista.

Despite those few bugs, iPhone still serves me well. I still love it. Especially the Facebook application!!! I can upload photo to Facebook anytime anywhere. Hahaha.

Now Andrew and I are all crazy about this tap tap game called Tap Tap Revenge 2. Hahaha. The wonder of it is, 2 players can play at the same time!!! When 2 of us were on the game, both my sister and father were laughing at us. 2 of us looked indeed silly tapping on a phone like some maniac! Wuahahahaha.

iPhone rocks!!!

iPhone MY Life

Got my iPhone!!! Yeah!

It works fine, only the typing part is a bit troublesome, need some time to get used to.

Ish!!! Used iPhone to type the first 2 paragraphs, failed to publish!!! Now back to using my lappie.

There was some small drama when I collected the phone just now. When I was right in front of KLCC, someone from Machines called me and told me I couldn’t get the phone tonight! WHAT?! I still remember when I asked her if I could collect it tonight and she replied “why not?” She said due to the server problem, they couldn’t see the update eventhough Maxis has approved and activated my line. WTH!!! I told her to at least release the SIM card to me as I didn’t on my phone for one whole day and who knows someone could have SMS me and I couldn’t reply. Finally, she called again and told me I could collect it. *Phew*

There I was in the Machines store, collecting my iPhone. We were there choosing the casing for the phone. That 2 sales assistant were with us for an hour!!! Yep, getting an iPhone casing is bloody more difficult than getting a dress for myself!

Time’s up. Gotta play with my new toy now…… Hahahaha……

iPhone Tomorrow

Bad news, my DiGi line has been terminated!!! I can’t make or receive any calls now, and I haven’t got my Maxis SIM card. ARGH!

Good news, that means I shall be getting my iPhone tomorrow!!! YEEHAH!!! Tomorrow after work, gotta make a trip to KLCC then. Still, wonder if I could use the phone tomorrow. Who knows what else they need to do with the port-in. Better don’t expect too much now.

This is something hilarious yet painful to watch. For those who do not like iPhone, enjoy. For those who own and love their iPhone, sorry that you have to watch this. T_T

Dreams Come True

I am happy now. Happy, extremely happy.

iPhone or Nokia N96, I no longer need to dream of having them. I am owning one of them, soon!!! Hahahahahaha…… Sorry, I just couldn’t get rid of that smile on my face.

Yesterday went to Pavilion with Mel and Wan Yi. We chat and ate a lot!!! 1pm had our lunch at TGIF and 4pm we had our afternoon tea at Old Town Signature cafe. Wan Yi definitely has a bigger stomach than us. LOL. Both of them went back at 5pm and I went to KLCC with Andrew.

In fact, on Thursday night we already went to check on the phone. It all started with Andrew showing me the walkthrough video on Wednesday. He is so evil! After seeing the real thing, gosh…… I wouldn’t want anything else! I was thinking, either I was going to save money and get that or I was never going to change my handphone.

We saw this advertisement board in KLCC, in support of the Earth Hour on 28th March, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, purchase RM1000 and above in the mall, stand a chance to get a pair of free Grandstand tickets to Sepang F1!!! That’s it. Everything was destined. If we get the phone and be the first 15 to go to the concierge counter, we get 2 F1 tickets!!! Andrew so wanted to go to the F1 and now we had the chance to get a Grandstand ticket!

So, Andrew got me this iPhone! In order to get the F1 tickets, we had to make the purchase from 8.30pm onwards. 8pm we were already in the Machines store, the Maxis guy there told us we couldn’t purchase the iPhone as the system was slow and they needed time to check my record and all other things. I was a bit pissed, Andrew kept telling him to check now. Finally, he managed to call Maxis and checked for us. Yes, we could make the payment on 8.30pm, luckily. After everything, we only got the receipt at 8.40pm!!! Andrew ran all the way down to concourse level to get the F1 tickets.

When I saw him with an umbrella 15 minutes later. I thought “damn, we couldn’t get the tickets”. Almost! He got it! He was the last one, the 15th customer! He was so pissed with the exchanging tickets part. Obviously, some guy cut the queue just because he was there earlier and his receipt was faulty and went back to the shop to get a better one, now he came back and cut right in front of Andrew. The concierge told Andrew no more tickets left, asked him to queue at the other side for the umbrella. He showed his pissed face to that concierge, that’s what Andrew told me! Andrew would never show faces to people unless he is really really angry or pissed. Hahaha. Then, miracle happened. The concierge told him there was a pair left and he was the last customer! Gosh, were we lucky or were we not?!

Got the iPhone plus the F1 Grandstand tickets, we’re so happy. But I do not have the iPhone with me now, gotta wait for the port-in and approval from DiGi, going to take 2 or 3 working days. It is so funny that at that point of time, iPhone wasn’t our main concern. We were more interested in getting that F1 tickets! Luckily we got the tickets, or else that Maxis guy in Machines is going to laugh at us.

Andrew said if we were to calculate the monetary gain, we actually bought the iPhone at RM1290 only, because that pair of F1 tickets cost RM1000. Which is true, if I were to sell that tickets to someone else, I’d get RM1000. Andrew told me he is fine if I wanted to sell the tickets to someone, even at a discounted price. NO NO NO!!! It was so difficult to get them for free and I am so NOT going to sell them! This would be my first time to Sepang F1 circuit to watch F1 live, and it’s a Grandstand ticket! I wouldn’t trade that experience for RM1000 cash. Well, unless someone wants to buy them at a much higher price. Hahahahahaha……

There’s another reason we wanted to buy the iPhone from Machines instead of from Maxis. We get to become the member of Machines, get rebate vouchers everytime we purchase from them and it’s easier for us if we have any problem in the future. Next thing to buy from Machines would be the iPhone casing.

Lots of people told me that iPhone isn’t exactly as good as it seems. A lot have told me that their friends and themselves who own an iPhone now would like to throw that phone away after 2 months of using it. Well, guess it is our own personal experience. When we like something or someone, we will still go ahead despite of what others told us. The same happened to Phoebe when I told her HTC Diamond is not stable and yet she went ahead with her decision ’cause she likes that phone. Now, I truly love iPhone. Looking at the price of RM2000 plus, between iPhone and Nokia N96, which one will you choose? Of course I’d choose iPhone since now it’s available in Malaysia now with unlock version.

Well, I’ve been a DiGi user since year 1999. People has also been telling me that DiGi isn’t the best network, but I chose to be loyal to it. Can’t believe that I have to say bye-bye to DiGi soon. Now, can you see how “powerful” iPhone is? Hahaha.

The free F1 tickets and the Machines membership card.

iPhone – My Dream Phone

Now, finally! iPhone is officially launched in Malaysia with Maxis as its official service carrier. Maxis is so blessed!!!

Being a loyal DiGi user for 10 years, I’m not sure if I would want to switch to Maxis just to get my dream phone. I was looking at the plan, gosh, the reasonable one for me would still cost RM1900, 8GB, with RM100 monthly commitment for 12 months.

I can’t. Can’t do this now. If at all I want to splurge, it has to be on my camera, not this! Good thing that Ashley can now think straight, not impulsive.

Well, my dream phone will always stay as my dream phone. Sigh……

Off topic: Went to Pantai Medical Centre to see my colleague and visit her boyfriend in ICU. His condition now is stable, going for another scan tomorrow to ascertain the condition again. If all goes well, doctor will then stop putting him under anaesthetic and he shall wake up in a few days. It’s a relieved to know that he is stable now. My colleague told me that it’s going to be a long way to full recovery, the brain injury on the left may cause problem to his right side of body. Therefore, he has to undergo some physio-therapy after this. Well, as long as he is ok, everything is going to be fine. Pray hard that he has a full and speedy recovery.
