Music

Fresh.New.Air.

First of all, one of the many reasons that keep me on my blogging journey is that I know there are people out there reading my blog and take good interest in it to actually LIKE some of my posts. No words need to be written or spoken, just a LIKE and I know someone is sharing the same thought or interest. Thank you people, for liking my posts. :)

I too, take great interest in the people who LIKE my posts. I’ll often check out their profile and if they have a blog too. Yesterday, someone LIKED my post on “Bryan Adams”. As usual, I clicked on the Gravatar, it shows Moses Melkonian. Looked for his blog, Moses Junkyard, clicked. Surprise, surprise. A new, young, talented artist. I wouldn’t label him as merely a singer since he writes and composes the songs on his own.

I’m impressed with Moses’ new work piece, We Are Mighty, We Are Young. The video (shot by Aaron Leaman) may look simple, but that’s what it’s all about. Great music doesn’t need fantastic video to tell the story, the song itself is great enough. Love the rhythm of the song. I’m impressed that Moses does not go into the main-stream pop music what others seem to be doing. We Are Mighty, We Are Young is pretty groovy. I was swaying my body a little while listening to it. Don’t believe me? Just listen to it and you’ll understand what I mean.

I was googling about this young artist, all I could get is this interview with Steezy Street. Then I went on to YouTube, wanting to see what else he has. Gosh, I found Lunar Lull! So soothing and comfortable. Moses sounds so different in Lunar Lull.

How long since we have someone who dares to be different?

Let’s hope Moses could stay in the industry and be different for as long as he could.

Seriously, you don’t know what you’re missing if you have not heard this brilliant artist.

Ahh…… Bliss of the week to have found this amazing star. :)

Bryan Adams

Have u really ever loved a woman?
You will know this if you and I are from the same era. :)

For quite a while back then, I was pretty crazy in love with Bryan Adams. I would look everywhere I could to buy his albums, even old ones. I would listen to every of his songs and memorize the lyrics. It was pretty much of eat and sleep with Bryan Adams. :) At this point in time, I do love him still.

Why does Ashley who always loves the good-looking hunks love someone like Bryan Adams who isn’t got the looks?

There’s one thing you probably haven’t know. I’ve got a thing for men’s voice. Hahaha. Men with throaty voice or some may call it the manly voice, would get the most attention from me. I could listen to Bruce Willis’ voice and drool over it. I would go dizzy when Liam Neeson speaks. Andy Lau’s voice makes my legs go weak. Andrew’s voice? Makes me feel warm. :)

Bryan Adams has got a very unique husky voice when he sings! It’s like a magnet and I’ll be like a piece of soft metal, hopelessly drawn to him! Hahaha. Don’t believe me? Try listen to some of his songs and you’ll understand what I mean. Try listen to this “Please Forgive Me”, my favorite with his most husky voice.

So, it isn’t the looks that really got me, it’s the whole package. :) He’s not just a singer, he’s also a song writer and a photographer.

By the way, the most loved football star David Beckham, does not have my love. Have you ever heard him talking? You should, and you’ll know why I do not love the most handsome man as they claimed he is. :)

Hmmm…… Writing about Bryan Adams reignites the passions I used to have for him. Listening to “Please Forgive Me”, melts my heart.

Another one to charm your night away……

Jingle Bell. Jingle Bell. Jingle Bell Rock.

‘Tis the season to be jolly!!! YAY! Christmas is almost here!

I’m not a Christian, but I love Christmas. ‘Tis a season to share, give and receive love. I love the Christmas ‘smell’ in the air. Everywhere is so Christmas-sy. You see, the magic of Christmas. Whether you’re of Christianity or not, you celebrate Christmas. It is so contagious. :) You just want to get into that jolly mood. :)

This year, we may be able to get ourselves a Christmas tree in the house. Andrew and I are already hunting for one. We are so excited. Although we are slowly building the home with the limited dime, we would still want to get the home into the festive mood.

The Christmas shopping shall start any time soon. I don’t usually buy gifts for every friend I have, only among a small group of us that we would exchange gifts. Also, we always have gifts exchange and Christmas celebration in the office. This year, guess I could do a gift exchange with Andrew too. :D

I am already feeling like Christmas…… Christmas, Christmas, can you come faster? Hahahahahaha…… I love Christmas!

Jessica Ellen Cornish aka Jessie J

It’s not about the money, money, money…… She sings.

I love the song “Price Tag”. When I first heard it, I thought it was Pink. She sounds so much like Pink but her voice is more crisp. Then I heard her singing “Who You Are” last week, I fell in love with her voice even more.

According to her, “Who You Are” is a song that she wrote, and to encourage people to be who they are, especially the teenagers. Indeed a very meaningful song. Sometimes we think too much to ourselves, we wanted to please others so much that we lost ourselves and we lie to ourselves so often that we forgot who we really are.

Don’t lose it all in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It’s okay not to be okay
Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart
Tears don’t mean you’re losing
Everybody is bruising
Just to be true to who you are

Listen, to every word that she sings, and feel it. If you have been through something at some point in your life, listening to this song is just going to stir that memory up.

Somehow, I prefer the boombox version.

Get It Right

Recently I am so in love with Glee. Couldn’t watch it on TV here, and couldn’t find it on PPS. All I could do is watching and listening to the songs on YouTube.

When I saw and listened to “Get It Right”, somehow something was stirring inside and I could relate myself to it, so much. Tried so hard to hold my tears in.

What can you do when your good isn’t good enough
When all that you touch tumbles down
‘Cause my best intentions keep making a mess of things
I just want to fix it somehow
But how many times will it take
How many times will it take for me
To get it right

In Loving Memory

You never said goodbye.
Someone tell me why.
Did you have to go?
And leave my world so cold.

Is he really gone?
To the fans, he is never gone. His voice is still surrounding us everyday if we let it.
To his family, they may have felt his absence more than anyone else in the world.

It’s been a year, without realising it. It feels like it is only yesterday.

I couldn’t help but got teary this morning when I heard his voice coming through the radio. (Shh…… Andrew didn’t know, he would have laughed at my silliness if he knew. He is pretty skeptical about people tearing for an idol that they have not met or touched. :) ) I wonder if it was me who get almost emotional at everything recently, or it was the song that made me teary. But I know that I do miss him and feel sad for what he had to go through. All he wanted was to relive the childhood that he had never had the chance to live. The circumstances just did not allow him the luxury to do that. Was he guilty? It no longer matters anymore. He is now free from it all.

His faces are all over the TV channels again. How could one believe that he is gone when basically he still lives in our memory and our life? You can’t deny the impact that he had made and in fact, he is still making an impact on our life.

Try listening to “You Are Not Alone”, and tell me that you are not moved by it and tell me you do not miss him. It is a very emotional song. Soak yourself in it and you’ll understand why.

It is one year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death. Whether you love or hate him, he remains the King of Pop, that no one could ever replace.

Another Fallen Star

Stephen Gately, most of us would have known him by the name “Stephen from Boyzone”, or “that cute guy from Boyzone”, or at a later stage “that cute gay from Boyzone”.

Boyzone is one of my favorite boy bands since school. My younger sister and I actually like Stephen more than Ronan Keating who seems to be the most popular in the group. We noticed that Stephen was the only one that would always look straight into the camera whenever it came to his face. When he sang, the song was written all over his face, he never failed to express. When he went solo, it was then everybody realised he got a beautiful voice too.

It’s just so sad that we’ve lost another great talented artist. He was only 33, at the top of his career. So sad…… A heart wrenching tragedy indeed.

Perhaps it’s not the end. It’s a New Beginning for him.

Goodbye Stephen. You will be missed, forever.

Michael Is Now Gone, For Real.

Ever since after his death, I felt that everyone was living in denial of his death. All the events that followed, were more like dramas for the whole world to see. His autopsy, his toxicology report, his will, his children’s custodian, his burial service, his grave…… Everyone is so looking forward to see/read all that. Until his memorial service, we all just had to face the cold hard fact, that he is really gone. He is now only living in our memories, in our hearts.

Yesterday Andrew forwarded an email to me, inside it was full of photos from MJ’s memorial service. When I saw the photo where MJ’s daughter, Paris was being comforted by Janet Jackson, the emotions and the tears just hit me out of nowhere. Called me emotional or whatever. I am still feeling sad over his death. Why am I being so sad for some singer that I’ve never met before? I don’t know, don’t ask me. I’m not always like this, Heath Ledger died I didn’t feel this way. Princess Diana died I didn’t feel anything like this too.

We took MJ for granted. For all the years when he was still alive, all the news about him were of negativity. For most of the younger generations, those who are below 20 year-old or in their early twenties, would never bother to get to know more about Michael Jackson, about his songs, his materpieces…… My housemates for instance, they are all either 20 or 21. It is only after MJ’s death that they started talking about him, browsing all his videos through Youtube, listening to his songs…… There was once I caught one of them watching MJ’s concert on Youtube and his face was showing that he is in awed of MJ’s moves! I couldn’t help but laughed, thinking to myself, perhaps that was his first time seeing MJ’s moon walk. LOL! I wonder if my children in the future would appreciate how great MJ was.

Of all his greatest songs, I love this one the most. It has always been in my head and sometimes, it would just come to my mind with no reason. Especially for the past 2 weeks, it’s on my mind like almost every single day. Hahaha. Soak yourselves deep in the lyrics, you’ll sure understand what they all mean and appreciate the way MJ sang it, right from his heart.

Man In The Mirror ~ Michael Jackson

Don’t expect to see MJ in this music video, you’ll be disappointed. Click and you’ll know why.

The King of Pop is gone. But his name will always be remembered by all of us.

Hmm…… I wonder… If there are life in other planets, would they be listening to MJ and mourning his death too? LOL! I think too much.

King Of Pop: Always Will Be

I guess some of you may wonder where has Ashley gone to? I normally blog pretty often, but it’s been 4 days I didn’t update anything. Friday was a tiring day for me, went to a seminar in Subang, after dinner and all that, I got home around 10pm. Saturday I had an appointment with Christine in Damansara. Sunday I was at home but later in the evening went to Seremban for seafood dinner. And here I am today. (More photos in the next post.)

Early morning of 26th June 2009 (local), a news shocked the whole world, from young to old. Our beloved King of Pop died, of cardiac arrest (heart attack), at the age of 50. It was only few weeks away from his London concerts. How sad……

I am not exaggerating to say myself have been living in the era of MJ. 80′s was the prime time for MJ, I’ve been listening to his songs when I was just a small child. My eldest sister used to listen to him a lot, having to live in such a small room, how could I have missed the songs? :) I still remember 10 years ago, second elder sister bought the HIStory double-cassette album, for fear that the prophecy of MJ was going to die at age of 40 would come true. LOL!

I’m not sure if you guys have heard of his ABC song when he was still in Jackson 5. That was a cute song! “ABC… … 123… … you and me… …” I think I know that song from the Sesame Street. Hahaha.

Earth Song, They Don’t Care About Us, You’re Not Alone…… All the great songs…… Can you deny his talent? Well, lots of talented artists out there now. But, none of them have ever written such impactful songs. When MJ was singing the Earth Song, I bet the human race would never have imagined our world indeed needed to be saved. Look now, the HOME movie. Why didn’t we listen to MJ years ago?

It was sad that at the later years of his life, all the negativities surrounding him. Allegations of child sexual abuse, illnesses, business, bankruptcy…… How much can a man take?

Hitz FM was playing MJ songs for 2 days, 8TV replayed his concerts on Saturday…… For the past 3 days, I was basically surrounding by MJ’s voices and faces. Andrew and I were both amazed by his voice and dance moves.

I love the tribute that the 8TV did, the name of Michael Jackson appeared on the screen, followed by his song “You Are Not Alone” with the lyrics.

Michael Jackson,
You are not alone,
For I am here with you,
Though you’re far away,
I am here to stay.
You are not alone,
For I am here with you,
Though we’re far apart,
You’re always in my heart,
For you are not alone……

Next Plane Home

Another brilliant song from Daniel Powter, Next Plane Home. I just love this song the moment I heard it. Who the hell is Daniel Powter? Well…… Remember the song? ‘Cos you had a bad day… you’re taking one down…’

The video is great too. Not some typical music video about the love between man and woman. Love the last scene of the video. The sound of this video is not that good. All music videos in Youtube related to this song have been taken down due to the copyright issue. I wonder why this video is still available on Yahoo! We’ll see then. (27 Feb 2009: Edited the video as Yahoo! Video does not have the video url.)

Have You Ever – Brandy

I just find that this song is so meaningful.

Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can’t sleep at night
Have you ever tried to find the words
But they don’t come out right
Have you ever, have you ever

Have you ever been in love
Been in love so bad
You’d do anything to make them understand
Have you ever had someone steal your heart away
You’d give anything to make them feel the same
Have you ever searched for the words to get you in their heart
But you don’t know what to say
And you don’t konw where to start

Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can’t sleep at night
Have you ever tried to find the words
But they don’t come out right
Have you ever, have you ever

Have you ever found the one
You’ve dreamed of all your life
You’d do anything to look into their eyes
Have you finally found the one you’ve given your heart to
Only to find that one won’t give their heart to you
Have you ever closed your eyes and
Dreamed that they were there
And all you can do is wait for that day when they will care

What do I gotta do to get you in my arms baby
What do I gotta do to get to your heart
To make you understand how I need you next to me
Gotta get you in my world
‘Cuz baby I can’t sleep

The Click Five

Been seeing this band in the music store long time ago, listening their songs on the FM too… But I was never really interested in checking them out. Their song “Empty” is kind of a hit on the FM radio, and I kind of like it. Still, to me they’re too boyish like… Hahaha… Not suitable for mature girls like me. :p

Woke up this morning, after shower and everything, I on the TV. Saw this movie, wasn’t sure what movie it is. Well, since I got nothing better to do, might just continue watching. Towards the end of the show, only I know the movie is called “Taking 5″. It was about a band named 5 Leo Rise being kidnapped by 2 girls just to get them performed in their school. I was curious about the band. Went to Google them out. Voila!!! The band in the movie is actually The Click Five.

All of them look young, wonder what their age is. However, they definitely got some matured voice. And I start to like them already. Hahaha. “Empty” is certainly a great song. To say that they are actually talented is a humble description. They do work hard to come to this stage. They do not depend on their handsome faces like some other boy bands. They’ve got some real talents and vocals. You can feel some “Beatles” in their songs.

This is like what people always say, don’t judge a book by its cover.

“Jenny” is another hit. I have heard it on the radio and didn’t know that it was from The Click Five. They even won the MTV Asia 2008 Knockout Award! How ignorant I was!

Kyle Patrick rocks!!!
