Valkyrie. Walküre.
Went to watch Valkyrie last Sunday. I admire Tom Cruise, even when people said he looked like a monkey and behaved totally inappropriately in Oprah Winfrey’s show, I don’t care. I admire him of his looks, of course, and his talent. Some said he couldn’t act. Well, I’d say that depends. He did great in Rain Man and The Last Samurai. Rain Man is still my all-time favorite.
When I know Tom Cruise is starring in Valkyrie, I know I must watch it. It’s a great movie with great history. It was a tragedi. A well-planned plot that went wrong.
From Wikipedia:
Operation Valkyrie (Operation Walküre) was an operational plan developed for the Reserve Army of the German Army (Wehrmacht Heer). The plan was approved by German dictator Adolf Hitler, who intended it to be used in the event that a disruption caused by the Allied bombing of German cities resulted in a breakdown in law and order, or a rising by the millions of forced laborers from occupied countries working in German factories.
In an ironic twist of fate, however, the German Resistance—led by members of the Reserve Army and including members of the Kreisau Circle—modified the plan with the intention of using it to take control of German cities, disarm the SS, and arrest the Nazi leadership once Hitler had been assassinated in the July 20 Plot. Hitler’s death was required to free German soldiers from their oath of loyalty to him (Reichswehreid). After lengthy preparation, the plot was carried out in 1944.
Apart from Hitler, only General Friedrich Fromm, commander of the Reserve Army, could put Operation Valkyrie into effect, so he had to be either won over to the conspiracy or in some way neutralized if the plan were to succeed. Fromm, like many senior officers, knew in general about the military conspiracies against Hitler but neither supported them nor reported them to the Gestapo.
The key role was played by German Army (Wehrmacht Heer) officer Claus von Stauffenberg, who was in charge of German Reserve Army’s Walküre, a role which allowed him access to Hitler for reports, and required his presence in the coup—which ruled out another suicide attack as planned earlier by other officers. After the first attempt had to be canceled and declared an “exercise”, Stauffenberg placed the bomb on July 20 and hurried back to Berlin to assume his pivotal role.
Fromm ordered the executions of General Olbricht, his chief of staff Colonel Albrecht Ritter Mertz von Quirnheim, Colonel von Stauffenberg, and his adjutant Lieutenant Werner von Haeften. Shortly after midnight, the condemned men were led to a mound of earth back lit by idle vehicles where each was executed by firing squad in the courtyard of Bendlerstrasse headquarters.
Have You Ever – Brandy
I just find that this song is so meaningful.
Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can’t sleep at night
Have you ever tried to find the words
But they don’t come out right
Have you ever, have you ever
Have you ever been in love
Been in love so bad
You’d do anything to make them understand
Have you ever had someone steal your heart away
You’d give anything to make them feel the same
Have you ever searched for the words to get you in their heart
But you don’t know what to say
And you don’t konw where to start
Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can’t sleep at night
Have you ever tried to find the words
But they don’t come out right
Have you ever, have you ever
Have you ever found the one
You’ve dreamed of all your life
You’d do anything to look into their eyes
Have you finally found the one you’ve given your heart to
Only to find that one won’t give their heart to you
Have you ever closed your eyes and
Dreamed that they were there
And all you can do is wait for that day when they will care
What do I gotta do to get you in my arms baby
What do I gotta do to get to your heart
To make you understand how I need you next to me
Gotta get you in my world
‘Cuz baby I can’t sleep
Leonardo DiCaprio
Came across this movie while surfing the web. I’m so excited and glad to see Leonardo DiCaprio has another new movie. Kind of waiting for something new from him.
Body Of Lies – The Movie
I wouldn’t say that I’m his biggest fan. Watched Romeo & Juliet, didn’t have any idea who that is. Just know that he’s a cutie pie. Watched Titanic when I was 18, boring yet touching. Then came The Man In The Iron Mask and The Beach. Nothing great about them. I love Catch Me If You Can. Leo is much more matured in that movie. The Aviator was another big hit. He again proved that he could act. Blood Diamond is good too. Leo is definitely a great actor. He is trying lots of different roles recently. I’m impressed with his acting and effort as a producer.
Leo is an environmentalist as well. Hats off to him. He is the narrator cum producer for The 11th Hour, an environmental documentary about global warming.
Can’t wait to watch Body Of Lies!!! Bet Andrew would like this kind of movie… But we hardly have time for dating nowadays.
See more of Leonardo DiCaprio here.
The Click Five
Been seeing this band in the music store long time ago, listening their songs on the FM too… But I was never really interested in checking them out. Their song “Empty” is kind of a hit on the FM radio, and I kind of like it. Still, to me they’re too boyish like… Hahaha… Not suitable for mature girls like me. :p
Woke up this morning, after shower and everything, I on the TV. Saw this movie, wasn’t sure what movie it is. Well, since I got nothing better to do, might just continue watching. Towards the end of the show, only I know the movie is called “Taking 5″. It was about a band named 5 Leo Rise being kidnapped by 2 girls just to get them performed in their school. I was curious about the band. Went to Google them out. Voila!!! The band in the movie is actually The Click Five.
All of them look young, wonder what their age is. However, they definitely got some matured voice. And I start to like them already. Hahaha. “Empty” is certainly a great song. To say that they are actually talented is a humble description. They do work hard to come to this stage. They do not depend on their handsome faces like some other boy bands. They’ve got some real talents and vocals. You can feel some “Beatles” in their songs.
This is like what people always say, don’t judge a book by its cover.
“Jenny” is another hit. I have heard it on the radio and didn’t know that it was from The Click Five. They even won the MTV Asia 2008 Knockout Award! How ignorant I was!
Kyle Patrick rocks!!!
Heath Ledger
Another good actor found dead in his own apartment in NYC. A shocking news.
Watched a few of his films. You must admit that he was really a talented actor. He was so charismatic that you just couldn’t take your eyes off him when he talked.
He was only 28, a year older than me. It’s so sad to see another brightest star faded away.
Mission Impossible III
Just watched MI: III this afternoon. Gosh… still love Tom Cruise. He is still as charming as ever he could be.
Oh, Maggie Q looked extremely stunning in that red dress!!!
Harrison Ford
It was by chance… Few weeks ago, bought 3 DVDs, Indiana Jones series. I’ve always wanted to watch them again. Personally, I feel that they were great movies, worth to watch over and over again. The first time I watched the movies was about 10 years ago. Well, you know, 10 years back then, I wasn’t so much into Harrison Ford, thought he was too old for me. Hahahaha…
That 3 DVDs were lying on the table, I didn’t touch them since the day I bought them. Then last Friday, on the TV, so happened there was this old movie of Harrison Ford, Witness. I was so shocked and surprised that he was so charming and handsome when he was young!!! He just looked gorgeous!!
It got me wondering how he actually looked like when he starred in Indiana Jones. Well, last night I had this strong motivation to watch Indiana Jones. Half excited and anxious, there comes Indy!! My glasses almost dropped. Gosh, he looked younger and charming than I expected!!! I don’t remember he looked like that 10 years ago when I first watched it! Geez… now only I realised what I’ve been missing. Hahaha.
I can now understand why my father likes him so much, and my mother is practically singing praises for him. Hahaha…
And now, he’s old and wrinkled. But he still carries this charisma and charm with him.
Way to go Harrison Ford!! I shall be your fan then.
