Fresh.New.Air.
First of all, one of the many reasons that keep me on my blogging journey is that I know there are people out there reading my blog and take good interest in it to actually LIKE some of my posts. No words need to be written or spoken, just a LIKE and I know someone is sharing the same thought or interest. Thank you people, for liking my posts. :)
I too, take great interest in the people who LIKE my posts. I’ll often check out their profile and if they have a blog too. Yesterday, someone LIKED my post on “Bryan Adams”. As usual, I clicked on the Gravatar, it shows Moses Melkonian. Looked for his blog, Moses Junkyard, clicked. Surprise, surprise. A new, young, talented artist. I wouldn’t label him as merely a singer since he writes and composes the songs on his own.
I’m impressed with Moses’ new work piece, We Are Mighty, We Are Young. The video (shot by Aaron Leaman) may look simple, but that’s what it’s all about. Great music doesn’t need fantastic video to tell the story, the song itself is great enough. Love the rhythm of the song. I’m impressed that Moses does not go into the main-stream pop music what others seem to be doing. We Are Mighty, We Are Young is pretty groovy. I was swaying my body a little while listening to it. Don’t believe me? Just listen to it and you’ll understand what I mean.
I was googling about this young artist, all I could get is this interview with Steezy Street. Then I went on to YouTube, wanting to see what else he has. Gosh, I found Lunar Lull! So soothing and comfortable. Moses sounds so different in Lunar Lull.
How long since we have someone who dares to be different?
Let’s hope Moses could stay in the industry and be different for as long as he could.
Seriously, you don’t know what you’re missing if you have not heard this brilliant artist.
Ahh…… Bliss of the week to have found this amazing star. :)
Bryan Adams
Have u really ever loved a woman?
You will know this if you and I are from the same era. :)
For quite a while back then, I was pretty crazy in love with Bryan Adams. I would look everywhere I could to buy his albums, even old ones. I would listen to every of his songs and memorize the lyrics. It was pretty much of eat and sleep with Bryan Adams. :) At this point in time, I do love him still.
Why does Ashley who always loves the good-looking hunks love someone like Bryan Adams who isn’t got the looks?
There’s one thing you probably haven’t know. I’ve got a thing for men’s voice. Hahaha. Men with throaty voice or some may call it the manly voice, would get the most attention from me. I could listen to Bruce Willis’ voice and drool over it. I would go dizzy when Liam Neeson speaks. Andy Lau’s voice makes my legs go weak. Andrew’s voice? Makes me feel warm. :)
Bryan Adams has got a very unique husky voice when he sings! It’s like a magnet and I’ll be like a piece of soft metal, hopelessly drawn to him! Hahaha. Don’t believe me? Try listen to some of his songs and you’ll understand what I mean. Try listen to this “Please Forgive Me”, my favorite with his most husky voice.
So, it isn’t the looks that really got me, it’s the whole package. :) He’s not just a singer, he’s also a song writer and a photographer.
By the way, the most loved football star David Beckham, does not have my love. Have you ever heard him talking? You should, and you’ll know why I do not love the most handsome man as they claimed he is. :)
Hmmm…… Writing about Bryan Adams reignites the passions I used to have for him. Listening to “Please Forgive Me”, melts my heart.
Another one to charm your night away……
Ghost Protocol
The installation of kitchen cabinets and wardrobe last Saturday was a nightmare. I felt so sad. All I could do was sighing and sighing. Andrew, on the other hand, was tired. He was so busy with the house even when he was off from work for 2 days. He wanted to take his mind off the house for a while and proposed to go for a movie in the early morning of Sunday.
Mission: Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol is something Andrew has been talking about since early of the year. He is so impressed with Tom Cruise performing all the stunts on his own instead of using a stunt-man. Tom Cruise has been my idol for a long time. Andrew only likes his movies in the recent years. Partly because of me, he has seen more of Tom Cruise’s movies. He has been telling me he MUST watch MI4. Hahahahaha…… 5 years I’ve been waiting for another MI movie. What a long wait.
Ghost Protocol, a great one. Although there are things which may look impossible and man-made, it is still a great movie. Seeing Tom Cruise risking his life climbing the Burj Khalifa is already exciting enough, worth every penny you paid for a movie ticket. Mission Impossible never lacks in action. Everything is well woven that you will never feel bored. There is humours too, which made me laughed out loud quite a number of times.
I noticed, Tom Cruise doesn’t play cool and handsome in the recent MI movies as much as the earlier ones. I still remember he kept showing people how beautiful his hair was in MI2! LOL!
Love the movie so much. Of course, LOVE Tom Cruise too! :D
Now, let’s see how beautiful Tom Cruise’s hair was in MI2. Just watch and you’ll understand what I mean. :P
The Man That I’ll Never Get Bored Looking At
He’s handsome, charming, sweet, good-looking, charismatic…… He looks even more charming as he ages. He can carry all sorts of look and still maintain his own characteristic. He rarely comes under the spotlight of the media, he is said to have been avoiding the media. He is very low profile. He is a mystery. He has come a long way……
Need I say more? :)

Criss Angel, The GHOST
When I first saw Mindfreak on the local TV channel, I was thrilled. I’ve heard father mentioning about this “ghostly” magician before, father called him a “ghost”. Hahahaha. I wanted to see just how amazing this magician is that could make father thinks so highly of, even better than David Copperfield.
I am pretty sceptical of magic. I know they’re just tricks that play with your illusion, there is nothing really magic about them. However, Criss Angel makes me believe in magic all over again.
Criss Angel, a magician and illusionist. His show, Mindfreak, is getting more and more exciting and mind-blowing. For most of it, I know they’re just magic tricks. However, there are some that really got my jaw dropped open and impressed. I now truly understand why would father call him a “ghost”. He even performed stunts that is pretty gruesome.
Just look at this mass levitation (or perhaps hypnotization) by Criss Angel. I’m not sure if he is still playing with our illusion. You be the judge and decide. :)
I am now a total Criss Angel’s fan! :D Criss Angel ROCKS!!! MINDREAK!!!
Jessica Ellen Cornish aka Jessie J
It’s not about the money, money, money…… She sings.
I love the song “Price Tag”. When I first heard it, I thought it was Pink. She sounds so much like Pink but her voice is more crisp. Then I heard her singing “Who You Are” last week, I fell in love with her voice even more.
According to her, “Who You Are” is a song that she wrote, and to encourage people to be who they are, especially the teenagers. Indeed a very meaningful song. Sometimes we think too much to ourselves, we wanted to please others so much that we lost ourselves and we lie to ourselves so often that we forgot who we really are.
Don’t lose it all in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It’s okay not to be okay
Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart
Tears don’t mean you’re losing
Everybody is bruising
Just to be true to who you are
Listen, to every word that she sings, and feel it. If you have been through something at some point in your life, listening to this song is just going to stir that memory up.
Somehow, I prefer the boombox version.
Cowboys Craig & Ford
Daniel Craig’s first James Bond movie, I was impressed. His body is screaming I-am-HOT and his piercing blue eyes are oozing with temptation. His second James Bond movie, I was smitten. I’m waiting for his third James Bond movie! In the meanwhile, I always keep an eye for movies that he starred in.
First time when Andrew and I saw the trailer of Cowboys & Aliens, we were laughing away at the movie title and the plot. So lame! Hahahaha…… Saw it second time, we were both thinking, “hmm… Harrison Ford with Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde, not bad”. Third time we saw it, we were saying, “hey… perhaps we should watch it for the sake of the cast and the cowboys, it doesn’t look that bad”. Fourth time saw the trailer in the cinema, I told Andrew, “let’s watch it! I wanna see Daniel Craig, and Harrison Ford!” Hahahahaha……
Like I said it many times before, I don’t usually find a movie bad, if I said it is bad, it is really BAD. Cowboys & Aliens is just one of those movies that I would say, bad. The plot is so lame. The story is unclear, the characters are a mess, the aliens look more like monsters…… If it wasn’t for Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, guess I wouldn’t even bother to watch it. Ya, ya, I knew the story wouldn’t be good, I got attracted by Daniel Craig, that’s all. :P After the movie, I told Andrew, “sigh…… The movie would be a total epic fail if Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig weren’t in it”.
I couldn’t believe that the director was the one who directed Iron Man. I shall say he did a good job in directing, it is the story that sucks.
So folks, I have warned you. If you are a fan of Daniel Craig, you can’t miss this one, for all his charms and blue eyes and hot bod. If you love Harrison Ford, don’t watch the movie as he looks terrible in the movie. If you just want to see how bad it is, wait for the DVD then. :)
Jang Geun Suk #2
Finally I’ve finished watching Mary Stayed Out All Night (or Marry Me, Mary). I must say I still prefer Jang Geun Suk in “You’re Beautiful”. He has more facial expressions in the latter.
I find his character in “You’re Beautiful” more of a “man”. Hwang Tae Kyeong dares to love and dares to hate. When he decides and that would be it. That’s how I feel. Kang Moo Gyeol is so “draggy” and emotional. Also, I prefer the way he dressed in “You’re Beautiful” and his hair! He also looks more compatible with Park Sin Hye.`
Think I’ll watch “You’re Beautiful” again, just to see his mischievous looks. :D
So, you get what I mean? ^_^
Jang Geun Suk 张根硕
I am not a Korean drama fanatic. However, 8TV has been airing Korean dramas (Best of the East) for the past one year or so at the time of 8.30pm, that is the time where I usually get home after my dinner. Switching on the TV whenever we get home has become a habit of both Andrew and myself. If we got home earlier, we would watch the 8pm Chinese news on 8TV and then whatever show that follows. So, you could say that I was kind of forced to watch the Korean dramas. Hahaha. I don’t watch all of them, I only watch those to my likings. Some of them I find it too lengthy and boring, but some are really good. Hmm… Think I’ve watched quite a number of them.
The first time I saw him was in “Beethoven Virus” (情迷贝多芬), he was playing the character of Kang Gun-Woo, a trumpet player in orchestra. His hair was short back then. I thought he looked cute and sweet.
When I saw him again in “You’re Beautiful” (原来是美男啊), I asked Andrew, “hey, is this man the man in that Beethoven drama?” Andrew is better at recognising people. :D It’s the same person! Jang Geun Suk! He looked so different in “You’re Beautiful”! So “rocker” and punk, with black eye-liner some more! The sometimes-spiky-sometimes-long hair made him look even more mysterious and charming. Adoi…… The more I see him the more I like him. I couldn’t wait for 8TV any more, I went on PPS to watch it. Hahaha. Towards the end, I am smitten with him. From “joe-hae” to now “saranghae”. Alamak!
He can sing too! Walau ehhh…… So handsome, so tall, so slim, so charming, with such a manly voice and he sounds so heaven when he sings…… Aiyoooo…… Guess what, he is only 23!!!
You must be saying me at this age still fall for such a young man? LOL! Just admiring only, no harm right? I’m sure the guys also love those young girls. :p
Luckily I’m not alone. Melissa likes him too, and I’ve just read Cheryl’s blog, who also share the same affection for Jang Geun Suk. Hahaha.
I’ve finished “You’re Beautiful”, tonight am going to start “Mary Stayed Out All Night”/”Marry Me, Mary”. :D
With short hair. This is how he looked like in Beethoven Virus.

Need me say more? Kakakakaka……
Hear him sing, you will melt!!!
Dreaming Away
Have you ever waken up to a dream of a dream? You were deep in sleep, having a dream, when you woke up, you were still in a dream. You woke up another time to the reality. I had dreams like that before, only a few times. But I couldn’t remember them. Yes, how often do you remember your dreams?
After Shutter Island, learned that Leonardo DiCaprio has another movie coming up soon. It is as mysterious and bizarre as Shutter Island. It is called Inception. I’ve no idea why it was called Inception as the trailer I saw earlier didn’t have any conversations. I knew I just have to watch it because the trailer looked so amazingly strange.
Luckily, the movie didn’t disappoint me. Leonardo’s acting is unbeatable. Everything he does in the movie could only get you more into it. Before you know it, you actually get sucked into the movie so deep by the character he plays. He has this charm or charisma that you just couldn’t take your eyes off of him. That makes you pay attention to the movie.
If you still can’t understand what the movie is all about, perhaps the movie fails to reach you. It’s not your fault, Inception, as well as Shutter Island, is not meant for those who do not like lengthy conversations. I ain’t gonna tell you the story of the movie, if you’re interested, go watch it.
The music in the movie is awesome! Most of the time it is the music that keeps the movie suspended. Salutes to Hans Zimmer. Am gonna grab the movie soundtracks.
Not forgetting Ken Watanabe, who played a supporting role in the movie. He has his own charms too.
An amazing movie indeed. You’ll start wondering, if you are living in a dream or reality. The dream and the reality, is just a sleep away.
This is the trailer I first saw. It’s compelling enough to make you wanting to go to the cinema, without anything being spoken.
In Loving Memory
You never said goodbye.
Someone tell me why.
Did you have to go?
And leave my world so cold.
Is he really gone?
To the fans, he is never gone. His voice is still surrounding us everyday if we let it.
To his family, they may have felt his absence more than anyone else in the world.
It’s been a year, without realising it. It feels like it is only yesterday.
I couldn’t help but got teary this morning when I heard his voice coming through the radio. (Shh…… Andrew didn’t know, he would have laughed at my silliness if he knew. He is pretty skeptical about people tearing for an idol that they have not met or touched. :) ) I wonder if it was me who get almost emotional at everything recently, or it was the song that made me teary. But I know that I do miss him and feel sad for what he had to go through. All he wanted was to relive the childhood that he had never had the chance to live. The circumstances just did not allow him the luxury to do that. Was he guilty? It no longer matters anymore. He is now free from it all.
His faces are all over the TV channels again. How could one believe that he is gone when basically he still lives in our memory and our life? You can’t deny the impact that he had made and in fact, he is still making an impact on our life.
Try listening to “You Are Not Alone”, and tell me that you are not moved by it and tell me you do not miss him. It is a very emotional song. Soak yourself in it and you’ll understand why.
It is one year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death. Whether you love or hate him, he remains the King of Pop, that no one could ever replace.

Shutter Island
Leonardo DiCaprio did it again, in Shutter Island. And it’s another Martin Scorsese’s film DiCaprio starred in.
I missed his Body of Lies in the cinema, I told Andrew I wasn’t going to miss this Shutter Island again this time. Hahaha. I like DiCaprio, not because of his good looks, but more of the way he works his charms in a movie. Have briefly mentioned about him in my earlier post.
He looks even more matured in Shutter Island. Fatter too, but that doesn’t make him less charming.
The movie, I’m impressed. The plot, the characters, the line of the story, the twists…… They’re all woven together so perfectly. There are times where lengthy conversations may make you fall asleep, but you won’t. You would have all your nerves in alert condition to pay attention to every details in the movie. Yes, that is pure Scorsese’s magic. The same way he had you in The Aviator and the Gangs of New York.
The end of the movie wasn’t unexpected, but it was nicely and carefully crafted to only reveal the entire truth at the end. The mystery was hanging in the air right up to the very end of the movie. Sadness, dark humors, tragic, anger, mystery, suspense…… You could feel just all of them in the movie. Nope, I’m not exaggerating. You’ll know what I mean after you watch it.
Do not expect too much of actions in this movie. If you weren’t into thriller and suspense, you will not enjoy Shutter Island. It is long too, almost 2 and a half hours long. You will have to need to prepare yourself to really engage in the plot. If you ever felt one tiny bit of boredom in the middle of the movie, well, you can forget about watching it till the end. :)
Enjoy your movie. Or I would say, enjoy Leonardo DiCaprio. :D
P. S.: Andrew and I found one funny point in the movie. The whole institution played along with one person for such a long time. Salute their efforts, man! If that was real. LOL!!!
MY FM DJ 林德荣

Another Fallen Star
Stephen Gately, most of us would have known him by the name “Stephen from Boyzone”, or “that cute guy from Boyzone”, or at a later stage “that cute gay from Boyzone”.
Boyzone is one of my favorite boy bands since school. My younger sister and I actually like Stephen more than Ronan Keating who seems to be the most popular in the group. We noticed that Stephen was the only one that would always look straight into the camera whenever it came to his face. When he sang, the song was written all over his face, he never failed to express. When he went solo, it was then everybody realised he got a beautiful voice too.
It’s just so sad that we’ve lost another great talented artist. He was only 33, at the top of his career. So sad…… A heart wrenching tragedy indeed.
Perhaps it’s not the end. It’s a New Beginning for him.
Goodbye Stephen. You will be missed, forever.
Him, Again.
I think this is my 5th post about Michael Jackson. I know I never blogged about him while he was alive, and to blog about him now may only make me looking as if following the trend and news. Well, he IS now everywhere, on the TV, internet, news, music store, bookstore…… How can one-self not think of him when practically we are surrounded by him? Before this, when he was alive, the world had never been surrounded by this much of Michael Jackson. Don’t you agree? Not even when he was involved in all the accusations and having his concerts.
MJ’s most anticipated “This Is It” video, is coming soon. It’s a video all about his rehearsals on his never-get-to-do-it concert. Finally, we will get to see Michael Jackson performing on the stage for one last time.
Since he was an idol, I’ve never met him and I would never meet him now, he has always been in my heart and mind, he will always stay in my heart. In fact, him being dead doesn’t really change anything, except that no more “new” news and songs from him in the future. No more live performances. Oh yes, how could I forget! His great contributions to the children and the world. With his death, no one could or would continue what he was doing. That would change a lot of things. How sad. Guess most of the parents now would be begging for MJ to be alive instead of cursing him and calling him names that he had never deserved.
Enough of Michael. Now I am waiting impatiently for his video. Saw the trailer of it, awesome! His dance moves are unbeatable! You rock the world, Michael!
P.S: “Man In The Mirror” just can’t stop playing in my head! Weird……
Michael Is Still The Best
Michael Jackson’s burial is tomorrow. If Wan Yi didn’t tell me this afternoon, I wouldn’t have remembered.
For the whole month of August, NTV7 played his concerts and performances during all the Saturday nights. I only managed to watch one, the HIStory concert, which I have watched numerous times until I’ve lost count. Nevertheless, it is still great to watch.
From the shock of his death, to the realisation of he is truly gone, to the now he is going to be buried for good…… It has now ruled that MJ was indeed murdered. Negligence or not, MJ’s physician has caused great loss not just to the family, but to the whole world.
I still couldn’t believe all the accusations towards MJ on child sexual abuse. Look what he had done for the children. For someone who had done and contributed so much for the children in need and turned around and abused them?
Can time heal all wounds? Including this one that caused the whole world to grieve?
Michael Jackson was the best dancer and performer, and he will always remain as the best dancer and performer.
One video to remind ourselves, how much of effort MJ had put in to make this world a better place.
Random #1
I do not know what to write. Hahaha. I was back at home with my family last weekend. I was so lazy that I did not go out and meet any of my friends. Brought my camera back, but it was sleeping in the bag and didn’t get to do what it is supposed to do. LOL! Can you believe that I did not take a single photo over the weekend?! That is something new to me, if not for you. :P
This week onwards, I wouldn’t get to rest over the weekend. I’ll either be doing photoshooting or having fun. LOL. July and August are going to be fun, fun, fun!
About my photography, I’m taking small and steady steps. Hopefully with the coming assignments, I could do better then.
iPhone 3GS is coming soon!!! I asked Andrew if he’d be getting it, he said nope. Hahahahaha. I wonder if Maxis would offer to the current iPhone owners a plan for trade-in like what they have in the States. LOL. Ashley, you gotta stop thinking that and stop spending!
News about Michael Jackson are still everywhere. His sister, Latoya, is now saying MJ was murdered. Gosh…… What’s next?
I still miss him though. Saw his HIStory concert while I was having dinner with Andrew last Sunday, in a Mamak restaurant. My jaws dropped open so wide when I saw him dancing. Dancing and singing were in his blood, no doubt about that. The way he moved was just amazing and so natural. MJ made dancing looks as easy as drinking water.
That reminds me of something. Gotta go grab some DVDs and CDs of MJ. Original of course. :) Andrew was joking that since he is now dead, there’s no reason to support his originals. LOL! What a good theory.
Going to KLCC tonight? To go or not to go??? Hmmm……
P.S: Why do I miss MJ so much? Geez……
Michael Is Now Gone, For Real.
Ever since after his death, I felt that everyone was living in denial of his death. All the events that followed, were more like dramas for the whole world to see. His autopsy, his toxicology report, his will, his children’s custodian, his burial service, his grave…… Everyone is so looking forward to see/read all that. Until his memorial service, we all just had to face the cold hard fact, that he is really gone. He is now only living in our memories, in our hearts.
Yesterday Andrew forwarded an email to me, inside it was full of photos from MJ’s memorial service. When I saw the photo where MJ’s daughter, Paris was being comforted by Janet Jackson, the emotions and the tears just hit me out of nowhere. Called me emotional or whatever. I am still feeling sad over his death. Why am I being so sad for some singer that I’ve never met before? I don’t know, don’t ask me. I’m not always like this, Heath Ledger died I didn’t feel this way. Princess Diana died I didn’t feel anything like this too.
We took MJ for granted. For all the years when he was still alive, all the news about him were of negativity. For most of the younger generations, those who are below 20 year-old or in their early twenties, would never bother to get to know more about Michael Jackson, about his songs, his materpieces…… My housemates for instance, they are all either 20 or 21. It is only after MJ’s death that they started talking about him, browsing all his videos through Youtube, listening to his songs…… There was once I caught one of them watching MJ’s concert on Youtube and his face was showing that he is in awed of MJ’s moves! I couldn’t help but laughed, thinking to myself, perhaps that was his first time seeing MJ’s moon walk. LOL! I wonder if my children in the future would appreciate how great MJ was.
Of all his greatest songs, I love this one the most. It has always been in my head and sometimes, it would just come to my mind with no reason. Especially for the past 2 weeks, it’s on my mind like almost every single day. Hahaha. Soak yourselves deep in the lyrics, you’ll sure understand what they all mean and appreciate the way MJ sang it, right from his heart.
Man In The Mirror ~ Michael Jackson
Don’t expect to see MJ in this music video, you’ll be disappointed. Click and you’ll know why.
The King of Pop is gone. But his name will always be remembered by all of us.
Hmm…… I wonder… If there are life in other planets, would they be listening to MJ and mourning his death too? LOL! I think too much.
King Of Pop: Always Will Be
I guess some of you may wonder where has Ashley gone to? I normally blog pretty often, but it’s been 4 days I didn’t update anything. Friday was a tiring day for me, went to a seminar in Subang, after dinner and all that, I got home around 10pm. Saturday I had an appointment with Christine in Damansara. Sunday I was at home but later in the evening went to Seremban for seafood dinner. And here I am today. (More photos in the next post.)
Early morning of 26th June 2009 (local), a news shocked the whole world, from young to old. Our beloved King of Pop died, of cardiac arrest (heart attack), at the age of 50. It was only few weeks away from his London concerts. How sad……
I am not exaggerating to say myself have been living in the era of MJ. 80′s was the prime time for MJ, I’ve been listening to his songs when I was just a small child. My eldest sister used to listen to him a lot, having to live in such a small room, how could I have missed the songs? :) I still remember 10 years ago, second elder sister bought the HIStory double-cassette album, for fear that the prophecy of MJ was going to die at age of 40 would come true. LOL!
I’m not sure if you guys have heard of his ABC song when he was still in Jackson 5. That was a cute song! “ABC… … 123… … you and me… …” I think I know that song from the Sesame Street. Hahaha.
Earth Song, They Don’t Care About Us, You’re Not Alone…… All the great songs…… Can you deny his talent? Well, lots of talented artists out there now. But, none of them have ever written such impactful songs. When MJ was singing the Earth Song, I bet the human race would never have imagined our world indeed needed to be saved. Look now, the HOME movie. Why didn’t we listen to MJ years ago?
It was sad that at the later years of his life, all the negativities surrounding him. Allegations of child sexual abuse, illnesses, business, bankruptcy…… How much can a man take?
Hitz FM was playing MJ songs for 2 days, 8TV replayed his concerts on Saturday…… For the past 3 days, I was basically surrounding by MJ’s voices and faces. Andrew and I were both amazed by his voice and dance moves.
I love the tribute that the 8TV did, the name of Michael Jackson appeared on the screen, followed by his song “You Are Not Alone” with the lyrics.
Michael Jackson,
You are not alone,
For I am here with you,
Though you’re far away,
I am here to stay.
You are not alone,
For I am here with you,
Though we’re far apart,
You’re always in my heart,
For you are not alone……
Terminator Salvation
Andrew and I watched Terminator Salvation about 2 weeks ago. Now only I blog about it, because I’ve totally forgotten about it. Hahaha. My forgetful self is back. It has gone from bad to worse recently. Within one minute I could have forgotten what I wanted to say or what someone has told me.
Whenever I thought of Terminator, I’d think of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s famous line, “I’ll be back!” LOL. However since Arnold would not be in this movie anymore, I didn’t expect that line to appear in the movie at all. But it did! It was a lil’ bit funny to see Christian Bale saying that in a serious face. :)
I’m not a fan of Christian Bale, never really like him in whatever sort of movie. So, this time I was more into the movie than the actors. There is another man in the movie, Sam Worthington, as Marcus Wright. He is more watchable than Christian Bale. Surprisingly I find that he did well in the movie, even better than Bale.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie. The only thing I don’t quite get it is, Kyle Reese, father of John Connor is younger than John Connor himself! Okay…… I gotta re-watch the previous sequels…… Perhaps he travelled back to the past and fathered John Connor and now he is younger than John Connor. LOL!
Star Trek
I’ve never been a fan of Star Trek, but I know a lot of people are crazy about it. I’ve watched a few episodes of the drama series, but I was so lost! I did not know what the story is about, did not know the characters and everything in it seemed so weird and bizarre to me. I quit following it.
It was last month when Andrew and I went for a movie and we saw this Star Trek Movie trailer. Geez, it looked awesome! Okay, we decided when the movie is out and we must watch it.
I was so tired and sleepy yesterday. Wanted to go home to rest after work. I even turned down a shopping trip with Phoebe. I just do not have the desire for shopping now. Weird huh? A once impulsive buy-anything-that-she-likes shopaholic does not have the desire to shop anymore! That is good news to me and Andrew, bad news to the shopping malls. LOL.
I was craving for Nandos. Told Andrew I would want to have Nandos for dinner and he was ok. Well, Andrew doesn’t like Nandos, he prefers Kenny Rogers. On the other hand, I hate Kenny Rogers. Hahahaha. Last night he compromised, we had Nandos. After a full and satisfactory diiner, we went to the cinema to check if there’s any interesting movie. Andrew suggesting to watch Sniper (Hong Kong film). I said I was tired, let’s watch it some other day. Then…… “Star Trek is on!!!” Andrew said suddenly. My eyes straight went from sleepy to wide-open! Hahahaha. Star Trek it is! Let’s queue! LOL! Fortunately, there wasn’t any crowds! We were the first in the line.
We were 5 minutes late for the 8pm movie. Anyway, we still bought the tickets. Luckily, the show had not started yet when we went in.
Oooohhhh…… It is a great movie. Fun, sad, exciting, hilarious, actions-packed, eyes-opening…… Nice!
I was surprised when I saw this man! Sylar!!! Sylar from Heroes is Spock in Star Trek! My goodness, when did he become this charming? Hahahaha. It took me a little while to get used to seeing him acting all good and Mr. Nice Guy. There is Chris Pine too. I only recognised him when I got home and saw The Princess Diaries 2 on the TV. I asked Andrew if they were the same guy and the answer is affirmative. HA! What a coincidence. He looked so boyish in The Princess Diaries but looks so macho in Star Trek. There’s a few familiar faces as well.
Well, Star Trek is a nice movie. Go watch it and soak yourselves in the suddenly-all-seems-so-possible space. I bet there will be some sequels coming up soon, real soon……
Valkyrie. Walküre.
Went to watch Valkyrie last Sunday. I admire Tom Cruise, even when people said he looked like a monkey and behaved totally inappropriately in Oprah Winfrey’s show, I don’t care. I admire him of his looks, of course, and his talent. Some said he couldn’t act. Well, I’d say that depends. He did great in Rain Man and The Last Samurai. Rain Man is still my all-time favorite.
When I know Tom Cruise is starring in Valkyrie, I know I must watch it. It’s a great movie with great history. It was a tragedi. A well-planned plot that went wrong.
From Wikipedia:
Operation Valkyrie (Operation Walküre) was an operational plan developed for the Reserve Army of the German Army (Wehrmacht Heer). The plan was approved by German dictator Adolf Hitler, who intended it to be used in the event that a disruption caused by the Allied bombing of German cities resulted in a breakdown in law and order, or a rising by the millions of forced laborers from occupied countries working in German factories.
In an ironic twist of fate, however, the German Resistance—led by members of the Reserve Army and including members of the Kreisau Circle—modified the plan with the intention of using it to take control of German cities, disarm the SS, and arrest the Nazi leadership once Hitler had been assassinated in the July 20 Plot. Hitler’s death was required to free German soldiers from their oath of loyalty to him (Reichswehreid). After lengthy preparation, the plot was carried out in 1944.
Apart from Hitler, only General Friedrich Fromm, commander of the Reserve Army, could put Operation Valkyrie into effect, so he had to be either won over to the conspiracy or in some way neutralized if the plan were to succeed. Fromm, like many senior officers, knew in general about the military conspiracies against Hitler but neither supported them nor reported them to the Gestapo.
The key role was played by German Army (Wehrmacht Heer) officer Claus von Stauffenberg, who was in charge of German Reserve Army’s Walküre, a role which allowed him access to Hitler for reports, and required his presence in the coup—which ruled out another suicide attack as planned earlier by other officers. After the first attempt had to be canceled and declared an “exercise”, Stauffenberg placed the bomb on July 20 and hurried back to Berlin to assume his pivotal role.
Fromm ordered the executions of General Olbricht, his chief of staff Colonel Albrecht Ritter Mertz von Quirnheim, Colonel von Stauffenberg, and his adjutant Lieutenant Werner von Haeften. Shortly after midnight, the condemned men were led to a mound of earth back lit by idle vehicles where each was executed by firing squad in the courtyard of Bendlerstrasse headquarters.
