Celebration

Love Is In The Air

First of all, I am seriously and terribly sorry for not blogging for so long. Work, house, family and friends occupied most of my time for the past few weeks.

It is February, the month of love. Wanted to write about this as I’ve seen how people went crazy with food and gifts on Valentine’s Day.

If you know me, you’ll know that I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. I’ve mentioned it again and again, we shall celebrate love each and every single day, not just one particular day. Furthermore, Valentine’s Day has gotten so commercialised now. Every restaurant is offering special menu on Valentine’s Day itself. Florists mark up the prices of flowers (sometimes even triple) on that very day. Jewellery shops have all kinds of designs specially for the day just to fish your money from your wallet.

I don’t like the thought of it, that Valentine’s Day has become so commercialised that it lost its meaning. Seriously, if I want to splurge on food or gifts, why must I wait for that particular day? I can do it any time of the year.

The love, is in the air. You don’t need to dedicate a day to celebrate love. Are you telling me you don’t feel the love as strong as the other 364 days?

Some has told me that Andrew is a lucky man, that I don’t celebrate anniversaries and Valentine’s Day, save lots of money, time and hassle. Well, they should probably say that I am lucky to have a man that loves me 365 days and shower me with the same amount of love (if not stronger) every single day. :)

I love YOU. Have you said that today? :)

Lucky End of 2011

Year 2011 ended great!

Lucky star was shining upon me at the very last minute! I got the present from the MD, and it’s an iPad2!!! :D Although I have one, who wouldn’t be happy to win another one? :) I was so happy! When the MD called my name, I thought he was joking! LOL!

image

Un-boxing my new iPad2 :D From the MD. Now, Andrew is using my 16GB whilst the 32GB new iPad2 is mine. Wuahahahahaha…… :P

My boss was telling me not to stop dreaming yet. Just before I managed to ask him what he meant, he handed me a L’Occitane paper bag with a gift box inside. “Here, for you.” I was so surprised! This is the first time he bought me a Christmas gift! Double happiness! :D Andrew was saying it’s an appreciation gift as well. Hahahaha……

image

It’s a Peony Set! :D Aww… Smell lovely!

image

On the contrary, I feel a teeny bit of uneasy. Yes, he appreciates what I have contributed thus far, that is also sort of reminding me to continue doing the best. Do you see that invisible “pressure” haloing over my head? -_- Ohmmmm…………..

Will the good luck at the end of year 2011 follow me to the year of 2012????? I hope so! Ah…… Everything is so full of hope now.

I am so full of hope even with the house issue I have with Kubiq.

2012, end of the world or not, let’s live like there’s no tomorrow. :) Cheers!

This Is It, 2012!

The movie, 2012, has created a lot of fear in a hell lot of people. I say, if the end of the world is coming tomorrow, why worry now? You’re still going to die if you worry, so why not die happily? And, everybody will die together with you, you’re not alone. So, why fear? I have so many things that I want to do, and yes, I fear death. However, I do not fear the end of the world. The selfish part of me is thinking, everyone is going to die with me, why worry? The angel part of me is thinking, everything ends, so I could continue my journey on the other world, why fear? :)

Okay, end of the world or not, life has to go on. Here I am, hoping for a better 2012, looking back at what I’ve done in year 2011.

My many firsts in year 2011:

  1. First time been to Melbourne, Australia.
  2. Took my first heli ride in 12 Apostles, Melbourne.
  3. Got my first iPad (iPad2)!
  4. Went to Seoul for the first time.
  5. Gotten the house key to my first house!
  6. First time been to Cameron Highlands.
  7. First free dinner in Nando’s! (Wuahahahahaha)
  8. Gotten my first Chuck Taylor All Star :)

Didn’t travel as much as I did back in year 2010, most of the times busy with the house. The most memorable one would be the heli ride over the 12 Apostles, amazing!

For year 2012, I will…

  • Exercise at least once a week
  • Read at least one book a month
  • Eat healthier
  • Sleep early (latest by 12am)

I think I can easily do the second and third, the exercise requires strong determination though. Sleep early…… Which means cut down on TV time……

We shall see……

Happy New Year! Here’s wishing everyone a greater and healthier 2012! World peace! :)

Jingle Bell. Jingle Bell. Jingle Bell Rock.

‘Tis the season to be jolly!!! YAY! Christmas is almost here!

I’m not a Christian, but I love Christmas. ‘Tis a season to share, give and receive love. I love the Christmas ‘smell’ in the air. Everywhere is so Christmas-sy. You see, the magic of Christmas. Whether you’re of Christianity or not, you celebrate Christmas. It is so contagious. :) You just want to get into that jolly mood. :)

This year, we may be able to get ourselves a Christmas tree in the house. Andrew and I are already hunting for one. We are so excited. Although we are slowly building the home with the limited dime, we would still want to get the home into the festive mood.

The Christmas shopping shall start any time soon. I don’t usually buy gifts for every friend I have, only among a small group of us that we would exchange gifts. Also, we always have gifts exchange and Christmas celebration in the office. This year, guess I could do a gift exchange with Andrew too. :D

I am already feeling like Christmas…… Christmas, Christmas, can you come faster? Hahahahahaha…… I love Christmas!

With Love

3 good and happy years. :) Happy, is the most important thing in life.

We quarrel and fight like every other couples, there are ups and downs and unhappy moments too. However, the happy ones always outweigh the unhappy ones. I can still say that I am happily married. In fact, Andrew has been showering me with all the love and care. Sometimes I think I am a spoiled child, I throw tantrums just to get more attention.

Last night, I half-heartedly asked him how shall we celebrate this special day, wasn’t expecting him to answer. I was so concentrating on my Smurfs’ Village and I didn’t hear what he said. When I was done with those little  blue people and lifted my head, I was surprised to see that we were in KLCC’s car park! Didn’t expect him to really go somewhere for some dinner. He has been picking up the tab for the past few days, so I told him I shall be the “host” for this dinner. He was sweet enough to tell me the dinner would be on himl. :)

He wanted to have the dinner in KiKi, there we were, having a great time in KiKi Taiwan Cuisine.

image

Top: Andrew’s Sweet & Sour Chicken Set (so expected of him lah). Bottom: Stewed Beef Set. The stewed beef is nice! Must try. The portion is big too, I was so full.

image

Camwhoring with iPad whilst waiting for the food. The restaurant attendants were looking and giggling at us playing with the iPad camera! LOL!

Wishing myself, Happy Anniversary! May our happy marriage last forever. :)

Nando’s During Public Holiday

First day of Raya, went to Mid Valley. Been craving for Nando’s for weeks! So, there I was, having Nando’s during Raya. :D

When the meal was served, I wasn’t too happy.

image

This is Andrew’s order, the amount of fries, lesser than what we usually get. It’s ok, he could still live with that.

image

This is mine. The whole thing just wasn’t in good presentation, the sauce was all over the plate, the rice was “messy”, and my favorite grilled vegetables, were missing the usual mushrooms, cucumber and brinjal. All I got was carrot and bell peppers. :(

I was famished and since it was a Raya, I thought perhaps there was some shortage of supplies, didn’t really bother much. Was just surprised that the standard of Nando’s was compromised because of public holiday. At the very least, this time they gave me a spoon whereby usually I had to eat the rice with the fork. Hahahahaha.

It’s alright, it’s Raya, maaf zahir dan batin.

Perhaps I should stick to Nando’s KLCC. The service there is also better.

KiKi Taiwan Cuisine – Suria KLCC

Supposed to go for a Japanese cuisine with Andrew, for his birthday, but he was being nice and not wanting me to splurge so much on the food, he suggested this Taiwan cuisine, KiKi by Fong Lye Restaurant. KiKi is there since last year, but we did not give it a try as we know that it’s the same with Fong Lye and we’ve been to FL few times, so it never crossed our minds to dine in KiKi.

KiKi is located on 4th floor of Suria KLCC, just another branch by Fong Lye Restaurant in The Gardens (Mid Valley City). I wonder why it is called KiKi and what has it got to do with cat? There is this cat cartoon on their signboard, name card and menu. Anyway, the cat looks cute. :)

The decorations and everything is pretty similar to Fong Lye, but KiKi is a bit more comfortable as there is lesser patrons. Full attention from the waiters. Unlike Fong Lye in The Gardens, so often we had to call for a few times in order to get someone to attend to us. The menu is similar too, it seems that KiKi has lesser a-la-carte choices.

I was surprised with the food. They taste slightly better than Fong Lye!

image

The menu.

image

The back of the menu.

image

Chrysanthemum Oolong tea, RM12 for 2 persons. I usually go for the tea. There are still other choices of tea to select from.

image

Set meal: Fresh tomato fried eggs with fish, RM19.80. This is nice, better than the one in Fong Lye.

image

Fuyooohhhh…… Love the gravy!

image

Set Meal: Fried sliced beef with green onion in claypot, RM19.80. This is so yummy and I couldn’t have enough of it!

image

The beef is so tender and juicy! My favorite.

Oh, not forgetting the soup that comes with the set meal. The soup is so, so, so yummy! I wonder, is it the Ajinomoto or they truly use the genuine ingredients? Hahahaha.

Now, I can see myself frequenting KiKi more in the near future. Hahaha.

Happy Birthday to my dearest husband ever. :) Wish you success in every aspect of your life. XOXO

AIDS Awareness & Women’s Day

Went to The Gardens Mall in Mid Valley city 2 weeks ago, with Wan Yi, Melissa and Nicole. Wan Yi was going back to Singapore and we wouldn’t be seeing her for some time, hence the small gathering to bid her short farewell, until we meet again.

After the lunch, we were surprised to see the AIDS Awareness campaign in The Gardens. All those photos with various local artists/celebrities holding up different messages about AIDS. What a nice campaign! It is all truly about educating the public. I wish they could do it in Suria KLCC and Pavilion KL too, where more youngsters and crowds are.

It was the International Women’s Day on 8th March, told Andrew I would like to celebrate MY day. No celebration on Valentine’s day and anniversary, ’cause we don’t celebrate love on one particular day, we celebrate love everyday. However, Women’s Day, how often do you celebrate yourselves as a woman? I bet not so often, or perhaps never. That is the day I want to celebrate for being a woman, no one appreciates myself better than I do. Don’t you agree? So being my husband, Andrew of course has to celebrate with me. Hahaha.

Went to The Gardens again, saw the AIDS campaign photos again, but this time on the other side of the mall. Wow, they’re different. I shall let the photos do the talking.

I think it was good education to the public, Andrew thinks otherwise after seeing all those public display of condoms. He was saying we shall educate people about sex, not like this, it seems that they’re encouraging people to have sex, sex and sex. LOL! Safe sex, my dear, safe sex. We can’t deny that we’re now living in a society where sex is so widely “advertised”, education on safe sex, STDs, AIDS, responsibilities and monogamy, is a must. We are having a lot of baby-dumping cases, averagely 1 baby-dumping case in 2 days! Guess what, 80,000 Malaysians are living with AIDS. We should really educate ourselves about AIDS and safe sex!

Ladies out there, love yourselves and your body. If you don’t even love or have respect for yourselves, who’s gonna love or respect you then? No condom, no play.

Guys out there, love and respect the ladies. If you can’t show your love and respect to the ladies, how do you expect them to love and respect you in return? Love her, and you shall have the respect.

Note: Photos taken using my Galaxy S, surprisingly good!

Wish For A Wish – Birthday

What? It’s that time of the year, again? Geez…… Time is really flying pass!

Guess what, this year I’ll be having my birthday in Melbourne!!! Hahaha. Did I choose the dates on purpose? Of course I did! LOL! Well, with a little bit of coincidence. I can’t wait, you know, celebrating birthday in another country! How’s it going to be? I don’t know. Perhaps there won’t be any celebration, but it is still going to be a special one. :D Go on laughing, but silly Ashley is all smiling at just the thought of it.

New iPad 2 is out! Gosh, with front and rear camera! 30% thinner than iPad 1! And the iPad 2 smart cover! Have you seen it? Gosh…… Though it still looks pretty the same with iPad 1, iPad 2 is simply gorgeous (although the rumors about the UBS port stay as a rumors, bah)! It has white! Furthermore, the price is going to be the same as iPad 1!!! AHHHH!!! I want one!

Emailed Andrew yesterday about my birthday wish, he in return, emailed a link to me, about iPad 2 is just a teaser for iPad 3, which is coming real soon. Nah, that was bulls***. Even if it was real, it won’t be so soon. Do you think Apple is stupid enough to mass produce the iPad 2 now only to launch iPad 3 soon enough to replace iPad 2? They sure are going to make a big fortune first!

iPad 2, when are you going to be mine???

Watch this video and you’ll get “poisoned”. LOL.

Valentine’s Surprise

It’s not our (Andrew and I) habit to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We both think the same that, one does not have to wait for one particular day to celebrate love with his/her loved ones. Even during our dating days, we have never celebrated Valentine’s Day. However, he did buy me gifts during Valentine’s Day when he feels like to. Yeah, not every year, only when he feels like to. :) Well, that is enough, to make me happy.

Today, as usual, it’s going to be a normal day for us. I do not expect any flowers or gifts or a romantic dinner. Just when I was busy multi-tasking (working and planning Melbourne trip at the same time), I received this email out of no where.

I rubbed my eyes and read again. It’s from him all right, but I thought his email account has been hacked! LOL! This is not an everyday thing you’d get!

That really caught me off guard. While in the midst of all the business, it is so sweet to receive an email like that. Nothing fancy, no fabrications, as blunt and plain as that, but the message is loud and clear. :) That also showed that he actually was thinking of me when he was at work.

Who says my husband ain’t romantic? He is, in his own way. :) Sometimes you just gotta appreciate even the smallest thing in life.

I’m contented, with what I have for this Valentine’s Day.

*I just couldn’t shake that smile off my face! LOL!*

Gong Xi Fa Cai

I’ll be travelling home today. I foresee that I may not be able to blog everyday for the coming week as it is the most important festive season for us chinese. :) I’d like to spend more time with my family instead of with the computer.

Here’s wishing everyone a very happy Chinese New Year. May the year of Rabbit be the year full of happiness and joy. May your businesses/careers/studies ‘leap and bounce’ greatly. :D

For those who are not celebrating, happy holidays.

During this festive season, eat and drink all you can but be mindful of your health and safety too. :)

A mini gathering @Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant (via This is Me; Melissa’s Blog)

I seriously believe that our almighty TIME is flying on a rocket! Hahaha. It has been a year since our Taiwan trip! Good grief!

It was a coincidence that we planned to meet up on this day, 22 January. One year ago, this particular day, we were in Leo Foo Village (theme park in Xinzhu, Taiwan) having fun. Yes, Melissa, you’re right. :) We miss our Taiwan trip so much and have been wanting to relive the moments. Since 3 of us were already in the mall, Alex was on his way too, both Wan Yi and I called our lovely husbands to come join us for dinner too.

Here we are, sitting in Fong Lye in The Gardens for our dinner! So nice to see 6 of us sit, eat, chat and laugh together again! I HEART you all!!!

For the details on the food, please visit Melissa’s blog at the bottom. :D

A mini gathering @Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant On last Saturday dated 22 January was exactly 1 year since we were in Taiwan. It was on 20 January 2010, since our trip to Taiwan together. If  I’m not mistaken, on 22 January 2010, we were at LeoFoo Village right Ashley, Wanyi??   Wanting to remember these sweet memories we had, therefore we made a small anniversary dinner. Wanyi suggested to have Taiwan food. Apparently, Fong Lye is the Taiwan restaurant which came across our mind.   … Read More

Pre-Chinese New Year Dinner

With the help of a few other colleagues, we organised a dinner before the company closes for the Chinese New Year holiday. It has become a tradition to have this dinner before the CNY, in Cantonese, we call it “Sau Gong Jau”.

This year, we decided to buy some gifts for each of the staff. So that everyone would get to have something to bring back home for CNY. We got Eu Yan Sang’s chicken essence and Tai Thong’s dried meat. Everybody was so surprised and happy to see the gift. LOL.

Since we have some Muslim friends, we went to Spring Garden Restaurant (Halal) in KLCC for the dinner. Mind you, I made the bookings 3 weeks ago in order to get a private room! Last year I called 2 weeks in advance and I couldn’t get a private room.

image

Testing my handphone camera first. :D

image

Spring Garden KLCC

image

First thing of course would be Yee Sang.

image

Braised shark’s fin soup with Bamboo pith, dried scallop and crab meat. This is not real shark’s fin of course. This is the best amongst all the 9 dishes.

image

Steamed grouper with soy sauce. The fish was not fully cooked! Ish.

image

Sauteed white prawns with Sichuan style. Very unique, not bad.

image

My boss complained about the fish, and they gave us additional dish, complimentary. :D Don’t know what vegetable is this, but it is so juicy and crispy. :)

image

Special fried rice. Dull and tasteless.

image

Desserts – Boring.

There are another 3 dishes in between, I was too busy eating and forgot to take photos. Hahaha. When I took photos, my boss said “ish… again! Faster lah. You going to take photos of all of them?!” Kakakaka……

Out of the 9 dishes, the soup and the roasted chicken were the best. The rest of them are so-so only. There was this double-boiled sea coconut with white fungus dessert, it was so sweet that I stopped drinking it at the second sip. Eewwww……

The standard of the food has dropped so much. I wonder why.

Chinese New Year 2011

It is only a week away to the most celebrated and biggest Chinese festive season, Chinese New Year! :D

I am already in the CNY mood. Done my CNY shopping last weekend. It actually isn’t the CNY that got me excited. It is because I am going to spend the whole CNY holiday in my hometown! It’s been 2 years I did not have the reunion luncheon with my parents. Finally this year, I get to spend my CNY with them again. All thanks to the short holiday. :)

Hmm…… Was interrupted by someone just now, and now I do not know how to continue with this post! Geez……

Let’s just end it here before I go out of the topic.

Gong Xi Fa Cai! :D

2011 Says Hello. 2010 Says Goodbye.

It has become my yearly ritual, to look at what I have done in the past one year. I must say that every year, it just gets better. There is nothing to regret or I would want to do it differently if I were given a second chance.

I thought I travelled the most in year 2009, obviously I was wrong. I travelled so much in 2010 and everybody was kind of like asking where on earth did I get the money. Well…… I don’t know what to say. There’s no need to explain too. :)

Again, there is always the first time for everything. Year 2010, the many first’s:

  1. Went to Taipei, Taiwan for the first time in my life.
  2. My first 30th year!
  3. Gave my Andrew dearest a surprise birthday gift.
  4. Had my first personal portraits with Melissa and Wan Yi.
  5. First time been to Bali, Indonesia.
  6. Finally set foot in Disneyland Hong Kong.
  7. Got my first Coach tote bag.
  8. My blog hit the first 10,000 visits.
  9. First time ever lost a handphone! My precious iPhone. :(
  10. My first online blogshop.

That’s about it. I travelled so much this year and I totally enjoy my life as it is now. I am not filthy rich, but it is proven that I don’t need to be rich to enjoy life to the fullest.

However, from now on, I have to really cut down on unnecessary expenses. Andrew and I have reached an agreement, no more fancy food in the coming year. I, on the other hand, have to really say bye-bye to my impulsive shopping habits.

Soon, there’ll be the OZ trip. I have told Andrew to leave the trip planning to one of his colleagues as she is good in planning budget trip. I just hope that she would not overly compromise on the quality.

All right, I shall only reveal my new year resolutions in year 2011. Right now, Happy New Year 2011. May everyone has an even greater 2011. Last but not least, WORLD PEACE. V^_^V

Cheapo Surprise. Real Surprise.

Few days before Christmas, Andrew and I went to Memory Lane in KLCC for last minute Christmas shopping. While Andrew was queuing at the cashier, I saw this milky bear with an incredible price tag, RM10!!! I almost screamed and I quickly grabbed one.

Me: Wei…… (with the “manja” tone) Can you buy this for me? Puhhllleeesseeeee.
Andrew: (Looked at the bear wide-eyed) HUH?! What for? NO! Put it back!
Me: Duh! It’s RM10 only!!! It’s cheap you know! Puuuhhhhllleeeessseeeeee…… Buy lah. I want…… Christmas present lah……
Andrew: NO! Bought you so many and now you just chuck them aside, this one just adds to the pile only. NO! Don’t want!

:( With all the unwillingness in the world, I basically dragged myself (yes, with both hands down on the side) back to the shelf full of the milky bears, took one last look, then put it back. :( Sorry, you can’t follow me home. *Sobs*

Before we left, I stole one last glimpse at the bear, and I asked one last time, “Really cannot buy meh? I really like it oh.” Of course the answer I got is negative. :( Kanasai (Sorry I have to use this to express my disappointment)…… With all the pity look on my face and he could still say NO!!!!

Christmas eve, after work, Andrew suggested to go Mid Valley Megamall. Wah!!! I was surprised that he suggested that! He said, “Of course you wouldn’t want to go home now.” Hehehe. Speaking of who understands me better. :P

He even treated me to my favorite, Nando’s! Hmm…… I was thinking perhaps he was guilty of not buying me any Christmas present. Anyway, I was already a happy person with the Nando’s in my stomach. :D

Went home, came midnight…… I was grumbling that it’s such boring Christmas eve, no pressie to open. Cheeky Andrew came in to the room with that milky bear!!! Hahahahahahahaha…… I was smiling from ear to ear. :D

Me: Eeeeeeee…… Bear bear!!! When did you buy it???
Andrew: Got lah……
Me: Thank you ah…… Thank you leh…… Xie xie ni ah……
Andrew: Oi! Enough of thank-you. ‘Sot sot’ de……

Then, I went back to my Facebook and TV. Obviously still soaking in the joy of having a Christmas present. :D

Half an hour later, that cheeky Andrew, came in with a big present.

Andrew: Nah, for you. *Smiling evilly*
Me: What?!
Andrew: For you lah.
Me: Don’t joke with me lor. You bought this for your aunt is it?
Andrew: For YOU lah! Take! Open.
Me: No lor…… Not for me lor. Later I open then you’ll ask me to wrap it back.
Andrew: Walau ehh…… For you lah!!! You think I’m so cheapo to just buy you that RM10 bear?!
Me: Hahahaha…… Why not? I’d still be happy if you just gave me that bear. *Opening the box*

WOW!!! It’s a glass snow ball!!! :D

I like glass snow balls or crystal balls, with or without music. I just love to shake them and see the bits flying inside. I don’t know why, it gives me a kind of serenity when I’m watching it. The prices for those big ones aren’t cheap, that is the only reason that stops me from collecting. Now, I have the first one and it came from someone special. :D

You may call me vain, for always wanting a present. To me, a present isn’t just a thing, it’s a gift of love. Big or small, cheap or expensive, all that matters is the heart. He pays attention to what I love and like, and he shows it in the action. That is what matters the most. If your other half would to buy the same snow ball for you, knowing very well that you do not like it, trust me, the result would be different. It’s the matter of knowing it, and doing it. :)

Thank you my dear.

Jingle All The Way2010

To let you have the idea of the importance of this gathering, I actually postponed my trip to BP home town (okay, I sound so sweet right? Hahahaha). :D Angie is back from Australia and I was so glad that she could make time for us on Christmas.

Was discussing with Christine about where we should meet. We were thinking of dinner, but then both of us thought, “we wouldn’t have much time to chat and catch up, let’s make it lunch!” LOL.

Then we found Poco Homemade, saw it in Berry’s blog before, the place looks special and unique. The place is not really so hard to find, there’s a very easy-to-read map in their blog. It’s just that Poco is not facing the main road, you will miss it easily. So, remember to always look to your left or right (depends on which direction you’re coming) for that little shop with pastel blue exterior. :)

Christine was the first to reach, both of us sitting and chatting and eating in Poco, waiting for the other 2 ladies to arrive.

Poco isn’t as spacious as it seems on the photos. It is pretty small, accommodating up to 20 persons or so perhaps. The decorations inside are pretty vintage and simple. It feels like we are back in the school days with those specially made wooden tables. Feel pretty much like home too.

The menu! So creative. There’s another menu made of wooden board. :)

I’m sure some of you may find this familiar. Yep, the trick that we used to play in primary school. :) It’s in Poco too, with the menu written on it.

Poco’s menu is pretty Japanese. I’d say most of them are of Japanese style. There is Katsu Don, soba, udon and Japanese cake.

Omelette Rice with Curry, RM13.80. With the Ho-Ho-Ho, it is so Christmas-y. :D

It is quite a lot! However, this is so-so only. The curry isn’t spicy at all and the rice is pretty “dull”.

Japanese cake. With squid, prawn, veggie and egg. :D This is delicious! Must try! (Sorry, I forgot the price. RM10 or so I think.)

Vivian and Angie came, but they have already taken their lunch. So, we went on to order all the desserts! Hahaha.

Green Tea Pudding with Red Bean, RM4. The green tea is so strong and it is so refreshing and aromatic!

Molten Chocolate Cake, RM5.80 or so.  Sorry I couldn’t remember exactly how much. This is super yummy! The waiter asked if we would like to add a scoop of vanilla ice-cream! Of course we said YES! :D

Peanut Butter cake. The name says it all. It tastes good and sweet, just that it’s pretty dry to eat on its own. It would be better to dip this with some creamer or milk. Have a cup of coffee to go with this one would definitely be heaven too. :)

Tofu Cheese Cake. We got curious because of its name, so we ordered it. There is different layers of tastes in this cake. The tofu came first, then followed  by the cheese and then all of them melted in your mouth together. If you do not like tofu, please don’t be adventurous. :) I love tofu, but honestly, I find this weird. :P

Rum Mascarpone. Super-duper delicious! You gotta try this. The rum may come off strong initially, but the sweetness followed and the chunky nuts and raisin blend in so well! Love it.

Overall, we like the desserts more. :) We have not tried the rest of the food, I shall return to try them all out. :D Perhaps with another bunch of crazy friends.

You may notice there isn’t any photo of drinks. Poco doesn’t have drinks? Nope. I was too thirsty, by the time I realised, my glass was already half  empty. Anyway, the drinks are, normal. There isn’t anything to shout about. Some of them do not even worth the price. I suggest you to try the green tea, RM2 per cup. :) Not that it is nice, it’s the cheapest compared with other drinks which do not taste fantastic. We drank a lot! That’s because we talked a lot! LOL!

For the address and the map to Poco Homemade, you may visit their blog. To avoid disappointment that you may not be able to get a table, I suggest you to make a reservation before you go. Or, go early. They open at 12pm.

Here’s some photos of us having fun in Poco. :)

Vivian brought this cute Santa Claus hair band! What a coincidence that we both wore red. :D

Having fun with the artwork on the wall. :D

A surprise from Vivian. :D

And Chris got creative with all the props! LOL.

Angie, Chris and I headed to One Utama. Chris got me this arm massager as Christmas gift. :D Sorry my dear, didn’t get you anything in return. Thanks for the gift!

Had such a wonderful time with the girls. A special Christmas indeed. :)

Happy Christmas 2010

It’s Christmas eve! Finally, my favorite festive of all time is here!!! Okay, it’s nothing to do with my religion. I just love Christmas. You have Santa Claus, Christmas tree, mistletoes, snow, elves, carols, Christmas songs…… Everything is everywhere!!! Whether Christian or not, people are celebrating.

Ti’s the season to be jolly! Where are you going tonight then? :) I’m not celebrating with a bunch of friends tonight, it’s going to be just Andrew and I. Guess I’ll do some shopping then.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas and happy holiday!

Do not drink and drive! Celebrate passionately, eat and drink moderately. :)

Late Birthday Post

I’ve been wanting to blog about this but it has always slipped my mind. Bad Ashley.

This year birthday, which was in April, I received some unexpected gifts from friends. They came really unexpected and I was very touched with their gestures. As years gone by, I do not expect to receive birthday presents from friends and family. It is the thought that counts, and I would prefer spend my birthday with my family. Gift or not, doesn’t really matter to me. My worst fear is, spending birthday alone. Perhaps I am used to spending my birthday with my lovely family as I grew, to be alone during my own birthday has always been my nightmare. Nightmare happened once and I wish that it would not happen again.

The unexpected gifts, I must say these friends really understand me well. They know what I like. :) Love them so much. I haven’t had the chance to wear them, yet. It’s just because I do not want to dirty them.

Thank you, my dearest one-in-a-million friends. I was surprised, and I am deeply grateful for the gifts. (Not sure if they’re going to read this. Well, I’m just going to say thank you again.)

Now, let the photos speak for themselves. :)

The “Holiday” charm is from friend, whilst the 4-leaf clover lucky charm is a gift I bought for myself. :)

Lovely “butterfly” necklace. This is just so “Ashley”. Haha. :)

Note: Soon, I shall make a count for my Thomas Sabo collection. LOL. :p

Courtyard Garden Restaurant, Damansara Heights

Last week Andrew has already told me that his friend was planning a birthday surprise for her boyfriend, Shaq. Shaq, is actually Andrew’s school mate. We got to know Jennifer, Shaq’s girlfriend since last year. Why is his name Shaq? Hahaha. It’s his nickname since school because he played good basketball, is tall and big, like the NBA basketball player Shaquille O’Neal. :)

The birthday dinner supposed to be on Friday, but Shaq’s family was here in town, gotta postpone the dinner to Saturday. Here we were, at Courtyard Garden Restaurant in Damansara Heights.

My jaw dropped open so big when I saw the prices in the menu. We already expected it to be expensive, since Andrew has promised Jennifer to go, we had to keep to that promise. For a Wanton noodles it costs RM20! A clay-pot assam noodles needs RM28. I told Andrew to better order something which is more worthy than a plate of noodles! LOL! They offer fusion menu, Asian delights and western. All of us went for western! Hahaha.

I ordered an asparagus soup, RM9, and Black Olive Crustecean with scallops and tiger prawns, RM35. Andrew got himself Butter Fish (cajun fish), RM45. Most of us ordered pasta! The pasta is nice I must say, but I couldn’t finish mine as it was too oily (although it’s olive oil) and it was a lot. Andrew’s butter fish wasn’t exactly what I like, there was this fishy smell and it was too dry. Overall, we enjoyed the dinner. For us who ordered pastas, we were happy. :) Worth the price or not? Hmm…… You could actually get the similar thing from TGIF. You go figure. :)

If you would like to go for a try, do not get stunned by the prices, I warn you first. :) Will I go again? Hmm…… I don’t think so. :P Unless you’re the one who pick up the tab. Hehehe.

While having my pasta, I had a flashback of our times in Taipei, having our lovely lunch in Mr. J’s restaurant. I’d still prefer the pasta in Mr. J’s restaurant. Gosh……. I miss Taipei so much.

Please pardon my photos quality, taken by my miserable 2MP iPhone 3G. It is still better than none.

Geez... O.P. Ribs, RM220 per kg!!! What is that??!!!

My asparagus soup, not bad. Not thick enough though, pretty watery.

The Black Olive Crustacean! It is nice, they're not stingy in the ingredients. Pretty healthy with all the greens, olive oil and tomatoes.

Andrew's Butter (cajun) Fish. Love the greens, but the fish is a bit too dry.

The birthday boy! And we had Baskin Robbins ice-cream cake for desserts. :D

Shaq got a box of Marlboro as birthday gift, and he gave us one to keep. :) No, Andrew and I don't smoke. This is purely for collection.

Surprise Cooked

It was a little hilarious that they thought I was going to COOK something for Andrew. Yes, I was cooking, but not food. :) I was anxiously cooking a surprise for him since 2 months ago. Oh, the surprise did involve food though. Haha. Just that I wasn’t the one to cook it.

Been searching for bakery that could actually do a Ferrari F1 car design. It is either too expensive or they just simply could not do it. There was a baker quoted me RM1000 for a cake like that! Gosh!

Seeing that all hopes were gone, decided to just order some cupcakes with cute animated arts on top of them from BunsInTheOven. I hesitated for a while because I had to collect the cupcakes on my own, they do not do delivery. It was in the middle of March, when I saw they had made a series of F1 Ferrari theme cupcakes, I knew that I was so going to get it or else I’d be sour! Hahaha! I was so disappointed when they told me they couldn’t make it on 3rd of May, which was Andrew’s birthday. :( I was so determined to give him a surprise. So, I accommodated to the baker’s date and postponed the surprise to a week later.

No regrets! Andrew loves them! He couldn’t bring himself to eat them, they are so cute! What is more contented than seeing the man you love loves the surprises you gave? :)

The cupcake was of chocolate flavor. It is very moist and soft and fluffy, not too sweet, very yummy indeed. The sugary arts on top of the cupcake was too sweet though. I guess that’s why the baker didn’t make the cupcakes too sweet, the sugar on top is just enough to compensate that.

Guess I will be ordering more themed cupcakes from them in the future. :)

Miyazaki Hayao 宫崎俊

This name came to my mind out of nowhere. I’ve watched many of his animated films. Few years ago I even bought a collections box with 6 animated movies in it.

Last year, bought a DVD of his new movie, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (悬崖上的金鱼公主). I didn’t know the movie was from Miyazaki Hayao until I bought it home. I was more interested in the Ponyo on the DVD cover, it was so cute!

Here is the official trailer in English.
